    How many dovetails have you made at once on a project? How many dovetails in all your woodworking (count each tail cut as a dovetail)?

      my tool chest came out to 70 and I still have to make the tills. I will never again do 11 on a corner...

      It's the nature of large case work and chests. I've never counted but I do a lot of them. The more you do, the faster you get and ime, the more you learn to love the process.

      @@scottm9605 Exactly! At some point, I'm sure it all just blurs together. For me, I've lost count, but not because I've done so many. I just don't know. But I think I'm close to 100 total, which is not much, but I do think that I've come a long way!

    I've never seen someone paint over their beautiful dovetails! It feels like hid away the dovetails. I love the piece though, well done.

    I got here after i saw your vidios where i found out some details about chanel analytics being a VLOGER and working at the same time is a lot of hard work

      Oh cool! Yeah, it's not easy, but if you enjoy it, it is a nice little extra. I love being creative, and making things (and documenting it) is fun, and the little money I get is a bonus. Now, if my channel took off, ... I wouldn't complain! HA!

    So I had been planning to do a boarded bookcase, but my wife really wanted me to have a top on the case which the boarded bookcase design does not. I was trying to think of changing the design or just slapping a board on top but then I saw this over on Instagram and started thinking of a way to make it larger, kinda combining the two. I might share it over there once it's done so we'll see how it goes. The good news is that right now the "select" radiata pine at my local lowes is cheaper than buying the next grade down. 1 8' board was 25$ and the 4' boards with knots were 15 each.

    • @TheHandToolery
      @TheHandToolery  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The boarded bookcase is so cool and different without the top, but i can totally understand wanting something more traditional looking. This fits the bill for sure. I almost put a back on it, but I ended up not because of the size. By the way, I’ve seen Joshua Klein do bookshelves on the M&T instagram. They are very wide and bare bones, but similar style!

    • @gizanked
      @gizanked 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheHandToolery I was thinking of just doing a bigger version of this but adding some stretchers across the back to strengthen it and stop the books from pushing out the back.
