I love how you mix all the available methods and tools that make part of your thought process while sketching. Because narrowing down to one method is a recipe for boring results. Thanks!!!
Your lessons are fantastic. I've learnt so much from you. I will just note - I find the choice of background (asymmetric positioning of the wall paintings) flower pot wall stand quite distracting, but its a lovely set up nevertheless.
i love how you can explain these topics so clearly. Being a self taught myself i have learnt so many new things about art from your channel 😊 specially while drawing along with the live stream videos. i hope that your channel will keep growing.
Thanks for your comment. It makes me so happy to know that the videos are helpful for you. Let me know what you'd love for me to cover in future videos, too!
I love these lessons! My drawings can get lost when I strictly follow Loomis or Reilly methods so thank you for showing how they can be enhanced more loosely or just used as general guidelines.
Just discovered your channel. Very helpful videos, I will watch all you have posted! Is that a charcoal pencil you are using in this video. I love the darks, can't seem to get them with pencil.
So glad you're enjoying my videos. I wore in the description below the videos what materials I use. In this one it looks like I used the cretacolor Nero charcoals. They have a binder in them that makes them feel like graphite but they are dark like actual charcoal.
So we're not throwing the baby out with the bathwater. The initial loomis style sketch still maps out a direction to go. Best point: yes, the sides are not an ellipse. They are the shape of the face. Thank you. Subscribed.
THIS IS A EXCELLENT VEDIO BUT YOU SHOULD SLOW IT DOWN A BIT, I'M NOT TO CRAZY ABOUT TIME SPEED VEDIOS I THINK EVERYONE WILL UNDERSTAND YOU YOU EVEN MORE OF YOU WOULD TAKE YOUR TIME NO TIME LAPS 😊
Thanks for watching this video! What's your experience with the Loomis or Reilly method as a starting point for your portraits?

I stumbled across this channel just a few minutes ago but its feel like I entered heaven. Awesome videos!
Lol, welcome to heaven 😉 happy drawing to you!
Finally someone holding the pencil properly!

Thanks for letting me know :)
Agree. Background is distracting and incongruous, to me
So underated channel
i love how specifically this is my problem and this vid magically came out of nowhere thank you!

Absolutely! I know how it feels when things get so technical that all you have left are knots in your brain ;)
It appears that I've struck gold. What a great channel.
Yay! So nice to have you here!
Very good
Your comparison to drawing a tree is great because although I learn a lot through figure drawing I want to use the skills to do other things too.
Yes, it's all connected. When we have real drawing skills they can be applied to anything. What are you interested in drawing?

Just let me watch your video. Thank you.
hi this lesson is amezing ❤
Yay! So glad you think so.
@@CarolinPeters your welcome
@@CarolinPeters i want to invite you for my arttalk podcast show
Well this explains why I would always fall out hard on portraiture with the loomis method. Those side and front faces really were just too flat, huh.
So we're not throwing the baby out with the bathwater. The initial loomis style sketch still maps out a direction to go. Best point: yes, the sides are not an ellipse. They are the shape of the face. Thank you. Subscribed.
So glad you got something useful out of this :)
