    Those horns were so incredibly tight I thought they were a virtual instrument before he said they were live. Wow!

      Truly! He really got those horns to sit right in the mix. Beautiful top end sheen while not being abrasive. Thanks for bringing this one to us, Warren and Bob! Cant wait until I'm an academy member!

    Hi Friends, Bob Horn is an excellent mixer, a great guy and wonderful mentor! Here he shows us how he mixes Pop Horns and an Electric Guitars. Have you mixed Horns before? Recorded them? Please let me know your experiences! Have a marvellous day!

      Best trombone player tip ever:
      I’ve always struggled with iso-headphones while recording the bone.
      Then they invented earbuds !!!!!!! 👍
      Also (obvious but super important) just move around the mic until you find the right sound for the part you’re playing.
      The trombone, as all brass, have a really vast difference between soft, loud, mellow, “splat” (listen to the trombone part in the “1812 overture”, that’s a quadruple forte) shiny, etc. and MUCH of that comes from where you position your bell in relation to the 🎙 !!!!!
      Cheers

    Great video! I don't know why, but horns don't appear to be used that often in classic pop and rock music. What beautiful instruments! It sounds so amazing!

    Great vid to see how you break apart the elements for processing. BUT, the A-B comes off so much more discernable without stopping. Warren, you do it really well as part of your commentary. Dave Pensado, Mike White, the URM guys etc. all must have gotten the comments. Please pass it on to Bob, he's such a great mixer and it's a petty point but it's the reason for making an instructional video. Please continue to do marvelously!

    • @Producelikeapro
      @Producelikeapro  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for your great comment! I'm glad you enjoy the way I A-B. Interestingly enough many people prefer Bob's way over mine, I even read on a Forum once that this is the 'proper' way! Haha Hopefully between all of the approach everyone is happy and they get to learn great new techniques! Have a marvellous day!

    Mixing POP HORNS with BOB HORN 😂

  • @joebobhenrybob2000
    @joebobhenrybob2000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Interesting ...but I'd fire a horn section that plays that much like a keyboard. Did somebody mash them to pitch and grid with melodyne or something, maybe edit or add fake tremelo to that top trumpet?

    • @Producelikeapro
      @Producelikeapro  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for your comment! Haha really you would fire these guys? For my sessions you would definitely be firing some amazing players! I'd have to play you the recordings I've made here in LA with players we have here! They are very tight and have amazing intonation! Real players can play amazingly well!

      Produce Like A Pro agh sorry for being so negative. Trumpet players can be as bad as guitar players when talking smack.
      How many trumpet players does it take to put in a lightbulb? One to screw it in, one to say they would've had better tone, one to say they could have played it higher,one to say they wouldve swung it better, one to say they'd have used better articulation, one to say the dynamics should have been different... it takes a lot of trumpet players.

    • @Producelikeapro
      @Producelikeapro  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha I hear you my friend! Yes, how drummers does it take to change a light bulb? One and six to say how Steve Gadd would have done it!
