Damn man, I love Dewey’s development throughout the series, he went from being the dorky but lovable cop in the first Scream to a person who has deep emotional bonds with the other survivors, and David Arquette just really sells it all, man. Big props to him.
I think out of the main trio Sidney and Gale have more significant character arcs like you can see them have major changes in personalities. However seeing Dewey's 'downfall' in Scream 5 is actually heartbreaking, although I guess it is realistic for some people going through mid life crisis.
Yeah, Maureen Prescott created ghostface for the first 3 movies. Amazing to think about. It was almost like Sidneys moms past sins manifested into what would be her ghost.
I don't know why, but the scream that Sidney makes when Jill knees her in her stitches is one of the best screams I have ever heard. It really sounds like she was in immense pain and I cannot gush about that small detail enough. I also cannot talk enough about how much better Scream 4 is, with all the deleted scenes spliced back in. They really do add to the film and make it more OG Scream feeling, especially since it means a little more time with characters before they die xD
I love how Jill’s motivation also works into the commentary on reboots; Jill’s trying to capitalize on Sidney’s life and legacy by fashioning herself as the new Sidney. But she didn’t earn that title, she just took the hard won survival and famous name of her cousin to literally make a shitty remake. And yes she got what she wanted but like the remakes of slashers, she ultimately left almost no impact and can’t hold a candle to the original.
Jill also was tired of hearing about her cousin every single day. And plus it seemed that she was annoyed when her mother/Kate always talked about Maureen and her scars, etc.
Kirby Reed should have been the final girl for this film. Her personality being geeky, witty and feisty but also deeply brave, resourceful and likeable is really unique as she fits into 3 character archetypes in the Scream series, Tatum - the feisty best friend, Randy - the quirky geek and Sidney - the final girl, making her truly unique. Her fate being left unknown for 11 whole years until confirmed alive in Scream 5 is quite legendary for a horror character or even for film characters in general. Can't wait to see her back in Scream 6!
Kirby actually answered the question about Michael Myers’ weapon wrong. She answers with a “butcher’s knife”, when Michael actually uses a chef’s knife.
Jill is by far my favorite Ghostface ever. She wanted to be an influencer before it was a thing and I was genuinely shocked that the “new Sydney” was a killer
Agreed, she was arguably the best Ghostface in the franchise. Her motive to become the New Sydney was completely original and just brilliant. She’s also the killer who comes closest to getting away with her scheme
Her motive is way ahead of its time and completely took the whole theater where i was by surprise when she revealed herself as the killer, the scene when she stabs and hurts himself to take the suspicion off her is pure Gold
I’m gonna be honest, the motive felt a little cheesy to me, but the execution was immaculate. Probably because Jill Roberts is an amazing actress. Also the sequence of her setting up the crime scene and getting swarmed by reporters was brilliant

Jill's jealousy was rooted in desiring to be her, whereas Roman's issue was about their shared mother's rejection, with Maureen rejecting her birth son and "choosing" Sidney, who would develop a celebrity victim reputation with adoring fans and a film franchise inspired by her life. This would have aggrieved Roman, as he technically sparked the chain of events to convince her mother's killer to do the job. Ultimately, both relatives have very similar motives, but subtle and important differences. As Roman's maternal first cousin, they act similar due to their neglect/abandonment issues related back to Maureen Prescott (for Roman, how Maureen rejected her birth son, and for Jill, how Maureen's sister failed to be a proper caretaker due to her grief and possible attention seeking issues from the fame related to her sister's infamous murder. 3.Kate is the second person to be killed by a relative her own daughter Jill Roberts later Jill would later be killed by Sidney. It has been speculated that Charlie did not want to kill Kirby, so he didn't stab her deeply enough to kill her. Charlie wanted Jill to think Kirby was dead so she wouldn't go back and finish the job. Charlie said "already taken care of", but left her to bleed out still moving. This is probably one of Scream 4's movie mistakes. However, although unlikely, Ghostface might have washed the blood off his face mask. 7. Examples of this are: When she was about to go outside to investigate a noise, much like Sidney did earlier when she heard the sound of windchimes. When she and Sidney locked themselves in her basement to hide from Ghostface. This is what Sidney did in the first movie when she locked herself in her bedroom when Ghostface attacked her at her house. Kirby is the first character within the "new generation" of teens we are introduced to following the opening kill; a tradition utilized in the original when audiences were introduced to a then-adolescent Sidney Prescott after the sadistic murder of Casey Becker. This could be an indication of her status as the true "Sidney" character of the movie, as they both become sole teen survivors of their respective origin movies. 8. Charlie is based on Stu Macher, because he bares many similarities to him. Jill apparently seduced him into doing her bidding and, thinking that she liked him, he agreed to help her with her killing spree. Stu claimed in the first movie that he was peer-pressured into helping Billy. 9. Marnie last name is the same as Scream 2 victim Cici Cooper however it is unknown if they are related in some way. 10. Trevor initially appears similar to Billy Loomis, including sneaking into Jill's room to see her. Sidney herself notices this, and tells Jill that she reminds Sidney of herself at her age however, he ultimately serves as the remake of Neil Prescott. Trevor even wore clothes that resembled the clothes Neil was wearing in Scream while Jill ended up being the new version of Billy Loomis. 11. Jenny Randall and Marine are the remake counterparts to Casey and Steve 12. Robbie's character is generally a reference to both Randy Meeks and Kenny. Due to his cameraman operatic ways, he meets a similar, but more gruesome fate to Kenny. 13. TH-cam star Shane Dawson auditioned for an unspecified role in Scream 4, but ultimately failed to get the part, it is rumored that the role of Robbie was the part he auditioned for. Had he gotten it he would have been first youtuber in Scream franchise but of course that honor goes to Dead Meats own James and Chelsea in the fifth film. 14. Judy is the first Scream sequel character in a starring role to return for another sequel. (Nancy O'Dell also cameos as herself in three sequels.) She is also the first in general, followed by minor character, Martha Meeks. 15. Judy backstory of being an old classmate of Sidney's is an homage to a previously unused script. The character of Angelina Tyler, who was originally planned to be the Second Killer of Scream 3, had the same backstory. These elements were re-used in the form of a Red Herring.

I never comment on videos but you guys do so much positivity for all of us fans. You’re the sole reason Scream is my favorite all-time horror franchise. Don’t give up James and crew, we love y’all!
We need to start appreciating James and his team. He worked so hard to get this upload after numerous edits and uploads. Edit: As much as I am excited for the Scream 5 kill count, I still hoping for a Scream TV Series Kill Count One Day. The show is so underrated.
Amazing video! Fun fact: My old academic advisor at my university previously worked on _Scream 4_ as an art department coordinator. She told me about her time working on the sets in Michigan and she even gets to keep a _STAB_ DVD prop, which signed by the late Wes Craven and is now sitting in her office. She also worked as a set dresser on _Misery_ and in visual effects on _Species_.

James puts way too much effort into this show. He tried so hard to get this episode up and him and his team work so hard on every project. Thank you for the hard work james we all appreciate it!
According to Craven on the commentary, Jill being shot in the chest *was* meant to be ambiguous. They originally were going to have her be shot in the head, but Craven changed his mind because, in his own words: "You never know."
@@DavidKen878 Did I say I wanted an old killer to come back? All I said was what if. Especially since the killer said we have never seen one like them, which would be a cool concept considering we have never had a return killer, who knows there prey
@David Ken I mean with Scream you never know. I think it's an interesting theory, especially if it was said that Jill may still be alive. The only reason I don't think it's true is because Sid won't be in this one. So I would wonder why they wouldn't be going after her, but who knows
Going back to re-watch the old Scream Kill Counts before watching the Recounts has been such a blast! This channel has grown so much since back then, the amount of work that's gone into these really shows and I can't wait for the Scream 5 Kill Count!

I was a Scream fanatic as a kid, like 10-12 years old at the time. The trilogy DVD set lived in my original Xbox for awhile when that was released. I was fascinated by all of the BTS in the bonus features, I was full of random trivia and facts about the franchise. All of this being pre-TH-cam, I'm just glad Dead Meat is a thing and still crushing all these years later. I remember watching the original Scream Kill Counts and have enjoyed these updated Recounts (and your thoughts) so much.
Thanks for all the hard work, James! Sorry about the copyright malarky that keeps happening. You guys always turn in great work, though, and we appreciate it!
Apparently Richie's father and siblings were smart enough to follow Sidney's advice on not messing with the original because in recreating Stab II they didn't include someone pretending to be a love interest in their scheme just as it was in Scream II, even though love interest are often the killers
That “good place” reference for Kristen Bell’s kill at 4:05 is one of the reasons I love James commentary. Man’s never misses an opportunity for a reference!
The scream kill counts from 2017 were my favorite kill counts on this channel and seeing them get re counted makes me so happy. Thank you James and the whole dead meat team for these amazing videos.
This movie will always have a special place in my heart from being the first scream I saw in the cinema and during Annie's car jump scare someone got so scared they threw their popcorn in the air causing the whole cinema crowd to laugh during her death 🤣
It was also filmed in Livonia Michigan as well. The police station scenes were filmed in the old courthouse next door to where I worked at the senior center. Courtney Cox arquette even talked to a few of us. Set was literally within ten feet of our parking lot. Memory banked for sure
Just randomly came across this channel a couple of days ago and it is awesome. The videos are so well put together and it’s got me on a total scream obsession
Let's all appreciate all the hard work the dead meat crew put into these videos thank you James and Chelsea and zoren you guys mean a lot to everybody and the other crew members you guys make make me really happy every time you upload ♥️😂 but who else misses the character Randy Meeks could you imagine if he was in this movie
Indeed, I saw James post a short showing all the different times he tried to post this video. The Dead Meat Team are warriors. And yeah, Randy was my favorite character, and when I saw his death scene in S2 (at 10 yrs old on VHS) I was upset
I want to say thank you to James, Rebecca, Zoran and the whole Dead Meat Team. The work you all put into every video and every podcast and every single project that you do. Before I started watching this channel I stayed away from this genre and never watched any scary movies. That all changed when I first saw you on Drunk Disney and then the Kill Counts. Scream has become my favorite franchise. The production behind the scenes clips that you add really interest me and I love this series. So once again thank you! ❤

@@ameliacox1410 thank you lots of research and meeting actors at monsterpalooza/comic con over the years asking them for anymore info on the film and something about the characters we never knew. But mostly I go back and marathon the film's notice details nobody caught.
could you repeat that
@@Drift_-wk6kb repeat what?
Thanks James and the team for working hard to get this up! We appreciate you all!
The outtakes are honestly wholesome as hell. I love sets that can be both professional and just friends messing with each other.
so glad james spent so much time and effort into making sure we could get this video out without any restrictions. its so nice to see that james and dead meat as a whole genuinely, well, cares! so nice to see such a big youtuber that appreciates their fans as much as they do!
MY PERSONAL FAVORITE SCREAM!!!🩸🔪
Yooooooooo Chris!
samee
I would've enjoyed the cliffhanger ending and a revisit to that world with Sydney having no memory. SO glad you were finally able to get this one up.
Same, it would've been a better ending than the one we got imo
I never comment on videos but you guys do so much positivity for all of us fans. You’re the sole reason Scream is my favorite all-time horror franchise. Don’t give up James and crew, we love y’all!
We need to start appreciating James and his team. He worked so hard to get this upload after numerous edits and uploads.
Edit: As much as I am excited for the Scream 5 kill count, I still hoping for a Scream TV Series Kill Count One Day. The show is so underrated.
Yes pls🙏🙏🙏

Amazing video!
Fun fact: My old academic advisor at my university previously worked on _Scream 4_ as an art department coordinator. She told me about her time working on the sets in Michigan and she even gets to keep a _STAB_ DVD prop, which signed by the late Wes Craven and is now sitting in her office.
She also worked as a set dresser on _Misery_ and in visual effects on _Species_.
“If you don’t play my game I’ll make sure they make another Thankskilling” by far the biggest & scariest threat James will ever receive
He nearly went as white as a ghost
26:10 i swear kill count humor is top notch
25:32 this man James is afraid of thankskilling all the time like is turkey your worst enemy?
Will always appreciate the effort the dead meat team puts in to make such great vids, whether it be the kill counts, recounts, podcasts, etc.
I and others speak for all subscribers when we say we appreciate how much time and effort you put into these videos! And we appreciate all you do to make sure these videos are even able to be uploaded! We love ya, James and Chelsea!🫶🏻☠️🥩
I COULDN'T AGREE MORE
Agreed
They are legends we love you guys ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I've been watching James for years and he's made a largely positive impact on my life. It's so good having someone to sit down and watch on TH-cam.
I have a fairly stressful life right now but just need to let you know the joy i get from these videos when i get a little time to relax! Thanks for working so hard for us James, Chelsea and everyone involved
The writing team have been killing it with the to-the-numbers bits the last handful of months. I chuckled a bunch at this one. Thanks for the persistence in getting out this video 👍
Love you all! I know this took a lot of work to finally get uploaded. Keep hanging in there Dead Meat crew. We get it.
18:19 - Amazing face acting! I hope we see Kirby doing something similar in Scream 6.
Omg what if Jill is the killer for Scream 6 lol with the return of Kirby
@@alonzokelly6539 Highly unlikely. Why do you all want old killers to come back so much?
@@DavidKen878 Did I say I wanted an old killer to come back? All I said was what if. Especially since the killer said we have never seen one like them, which would be a cool concept considering we have never had a return killer, who knows there prey
@@alonzokelly6539 So you think when Ghostface said "You've never seen one like me," that means one that's been in multiple movies? 😳
For Anthony Anderson, He was also a detective in Law and Order for quite a few years hence James sentence, "Hoping to bring some Law and Order to woods-" at 11:50.
My wife and I just finished Scream V. I saw it last week and told her we had to watch it.
She was so into it that we are currently watching the OG Scream.
Between viewings, I saw this drop and had to step outside watch it.
Can't wait for the Scream V Kill Count
Such a joy to really see how much James and his team work hard to make a beautiful, fun, informative, and respectful kill count and podcasts and other things (LIKE THE INSANE HORROR AWARDS LIKE HOLY SHIT MAN) Great work! Thank you
Thank you so much!
Dead Meat never disappoints. The Scream franchise has gotten much more familiarity among audiences, whether old or new. It's iconic in more ways than one.
We know this took a lot of work to put on TH-cam James and we all appreciate the dedication very much. Thank you
I got my mom into horror movies cause of this channel, she used to never watch them with me when I was growing up and now she can't get enough thanks to James and team for these videos
Ik everyone is very grateful for how much the entire dead meat cast works to put out amazing content. Love you all
My little Tally Hall obsessed brain is hearing James talk about Ann Arbor and The Blind Pig and idk it’s just making my brain smile.
Thank you James and Chelsea for working so hard to get this one up ^^
25:35 - Bro, just hearing this list helps me to remember *how many episodes of pure massacre horror glory this channel has really done.* I know its the ending skit and all, but man, I am just in awe. And all so he doesn't have to cover another Thankskilling movie..
Thanks you to everyone on the Dead Meat team! Yall are amazing and we greatly appreciate the effort.
These recounts have been amazing, thank you James and everyone else at Dead Meat for all the hard work and effort!! It doesn’t go unappreciated :)
I'm one of the admins on the Scream Wiki and the Designer of that Stab 3: Hollywood Horror poster. Thanks for including it in the video!!
Thanks for all the attempts for the fans around the world! We love you James!
I love how many subtle and non subtle references James makes in this kill Count.
Wow. James timed this franchise to end exactly one week before the friday Scream VI premiers. Love it!
One of the first horror movies I saw in theatres, it will always have a special place in my heart.
Much love to James, Chelsea and the dead meat team who work hard to give us good content♥️
I gotta hive it to Jill, her commitment to make a convincing field of evidence is amazing.
Thank you for working so hard to get this up!!! We love you all ❤️
18:54 the caption of the kill is everything 😂
Thanks for all the hard work, James! Sorry about the copyright malarky that keeps happening. You guys always turn in great work, though, and we appreciate it!
26:17 RIP Ghostface
Apparently Richie's father and siblings were smart enough to follow Sidney's advice on not messing with the original because in recreating Stab II they didn't include someone pretending to be a love interest in their scheme just as it was in Scream II, even though love interest are often the killers
That “good place” reference for Kristen Bell’s kill at 4:05 is one of the reasons I love James commentary. Man’s never misses an opportunity for a reference!
Thank you for putting this out! We know you worked hard to do so! We all appreciate you!
RIP wes Craven, a wonderful Director who gave the horror genre so much
Not even copyright can stop James! Thanks for all your hard work.
Crazy how long it took to get Scream 4 up when we’re all just waiting for Scream 5 😂 but very much appreciated. Thank you, all of Dead Meat!
24:31 one of the greatest moments in horror history.
The scream kill counts from 2017 were my favorite kill counts on this channel and seeing them get re counted makes me so happy. Thank you James and the whole dead meat team for these amazing videos.
This recount inspired me to rewatch the entire series, and boy did I fall in love with it all over again 😍 such an incomparable horror series!
This movie will always have a special place in my heart from being the first scream I saw in the cinema and during Annie's car jump scare someone got so scared they threw their popcorn in the air causing the whole cinema crowd to laugh during her death 🤣
Thanks James for working so hard on getting the video up!
It’s definitely worth the wait
We appreciate the dedication and patience the whole team puts in for these videos.
Also, thank you for never not dunking on Snyder.
😀
It was also filmed in Livonia Michigan as well. The police station scenes were filmed in the old courthouse next door to where I worked at the senior center. Courtney Cox arquette even talked to a few of us. Set was literally within ten feet of our parking lot. Memory banked for sure
26:05 bro just started naming all the most recent kill counts from werewolf by night to this one 💀
I'm so excited for Kirby to be back! Loved her in this one! So excited for Scream 6!
Much appreciation and love for you and your teams dedication! Copyrights can’t stop the meat train 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
So glad you were able to finally get this uploaded with TH-cam cracking down on you. You and your team truly are inspiring
20:49 Yes! Love seeing James and Chelsea in a kill count!
Jill is Billy
Charlie is Stu
Kirby is Randy
Trevor is Neil Prescott
Olivia is Tatum
Robbie is Kenny
Kirby is also Sidney
Kate is Maureen
Gale is Rebecca
Marnie and Jenny is Steven and Casey
You brought up the mtv series and I would love if you did a kill count on it! It’s so good in my opinion and deserves an actual 3rd season…but I do understand how long and hard a full season of television can be…I’m happy you did stranger things and chucky!
yes i loved the mtv series up until season 3. i’ve seen a lot of people asking him to count the tv series but sadly i don’t think he’ll be able to cover it
@@kellymonroy8802 it was so good! I wish season 3 was the real season 3 and we got closure to the story, and it would be a dream to have him cover it but sadly I agree. He might not be able to.
Aren’t there rumors Paramount+ is trying to make the actual s3 to tie up the first two seasons’ storylines?
@@saratrice3051 that would be amazing!! I haven’t heard those rumors
@@Slashes_To_Ashes I heard them on Behind the Mask. I do hope those rumors wind up being true. The second season’s special wound up creating more questions than answering existing ones about the show’s story and the James family.
24:49 I’m so disappointed you didn’t say “the haaaaa” 😂😂😂
Looking forward to your amazing cameo on Scream (2022) for the next Dead Meat video, James!
Amazing work on ReCounts videos dude!
Thank you for getting this up Dead Meat team!! I really appreciate it with yall getting this nice recount of one of my favorite horror movies ever.
So glad this got through THANK YOU JAMES AND THE DEAD MEAT TEAM!
Bro you guys are killing it with the "To the numbers!" moments. They're too funny. 😂
The fact that both Patricia and David made such a splash in their own respective horror series is pretty damn cool.
Edited to add: Both with Wes Craven too!
i know her character wasn’t as big of a character, but alexis arquette was also in the chunky franchise, so i think it’s really cool the three of them were all in different horror series :)
@@paigemarto5248 Oh dang! I had no idea that was was their brother!! Even though his role in Bride was small he was a surprisingly complex horror character. He obviously wanted to be hardcore but he had too much of that pesky compassion for human life for Tiffany to ever actually commit to him.
R.I.P dude. You left a bigger mark on this world than most of us can dream of.
One fatal flaw in this kill count. Jill was shot in the harr, not the heart.
I’m glad it finally worked on since we know how much effort this took to put. We love you and the work you do
So glad you were able to put this one out. The recounts have always been great, but the Scream recounts have been my favorite! I can’t wait to see the 5th one for some real metaness
I just was so obsessed with this one since I seen it in 2011 modernizing my favorite movie of all time. It got so much hate that I’m glad to see it reach a new audience now with people who enjoy it
I think you mean Scre4m
yeah, true.
