I love how this song foreshadows Liz and Ally's relationship. She pushes him away the closer he gets, she indulges his desire for romance but leaves it outside of her door and her home. She does not "stay and make his heart fly." But also, Davy and Yvonne sing part of this song at the end. There is no back and forth, they both immediately agree lyrically. Whereas with Liz and Ally there is a push and pull. It is very well thought out for a silly little indie musical.
I love this film so much and I can't help but laugh and be happy when I am watching it xx I love this song so much x It's just so sweet xx I love the Scottish accent xx
Its an enjoyable musical overall and this version of "Make my heart fly" is probably the one song that I actually prefer to the original Proclaimers' version. I think its just a bit sweeter than the more "in your face" version by the brothers and works better.
oldstuff yeah a song such as this needs a softer voice. The Brothers are fantastically talented musicians but their style of singing is the wrong style for this song
This is definitely one of my guilty pleasure films. The plot's pretty shite and no-one sounds like they're actually from Edinburgh (I've lived there my whole life so I know the difference between a proper Edinburgh accent and a generic Scottish one), but somehow the soundtrack's so good it just makes the film.
This is my favorite movie of all time, for so many reasons. It absolutely has a predictable plot given the songs it was based on, but there is so much to it that I notice with each rewatch (that being maybe 10 times). Every character is likable and I love the overall message
La La Land won Oscars. It was shite in comparison to Sunshine on Leith. This film had strong narrative continuity, it had hart without contrivance, it felt possible.
Is there any secret meaning behind the brids and bees phrases? I am non English, but it seems to me like there is something I am missing about the lyrics. Thanks :)

What a beautifully sung duet.
The overall arrangement just adds to the harmonic performance.
Simply beautiful.
2.37 - great note she hits there. Love it.
Adore it. Elevates the song to one of the best in the movie.
lovely overlooked gem of a film!
It never gets old.

It's a Scottish movie and it's great.
Liz: Gimme a ring
Ally: *proposes*
Liz: NOT THAT KIND OF RING
Love that foreshadowing moment. This whole song foreshadows their relationship and how it will end. Genius
Give me a ring...
Inside your 'door'? Never heard it called that before...
Guilty pleasure :)
2:37 damn
The walls are so thin I thin in those buildings I would just walk out into the hall and see what’s happening if it was in real life
Now imagining this happening, they finish and he turns round to see some guy leaning out his doorway with a look that says "the fuck" 😂
