    If you haven't watched this show yet - GET ON IT! I absolutely loved it and fell instantly in love with the plaid dress shown in episode 2 & 3. Luckily, my mom found this amazing plaid fabric a few months ago at a local thrift store and since I was too terrified to use it - I had it ready. So when I saw the dress, I knew I had to forget about my fear and figure out how to work with plaid!
    For this dress, I will be using a vintage dress pattern for the wrap top and I will be using my own skirt pattern - you can follow along here: • Making a Vintage Inspi...

    What outfit would you love to recreate?

    • @averyt9600

      It’s not from media, but I would love to recreate the Lady Duff Gordon “Happiness Dress”. It is both beautiful and technically impressive, but requires miles of silk! So I will likely make a project inspired by the design rather than a direct recreation.

      I mean I feel like everyone wants to recreate this one but - Katrina Van Tassel's black and white striped dress from Sleepy Hollow. Or the blue-gray one from the church scene, actually. The costuming in that movie is so glorious.

    Absolutely lovely! You are an excellent seamstress. I admire anyone who can tailor the way that you had to do with the matching plaids etc. Very very nice and yes, you should be proud. It's lovely and I can imagine wearing it a ton of different times for several occasions. You wear your clothing nicely as well. You have done an excellent job.
    I am a new subbie and I have sewn for years and years. My sister also is a seamstress and she can tailor beautifully. Love that dress! Enjoy your talent and saving tons that is so versatile.

    There is nothing wrong with being proud of yourself and your work. You did a great job matching those plaids. Being pleased with a job well done isn't arrogance. And I was super impressed with how spot on everything matched! Very good job!

    The dress turned out beautiful and it really suits you well :)
    You said that the darts were weird eventhough you did them just like in the pattern... I have the same problem with every dress I make. I always change the tip of the darts so that it fits better. There are many videos on youtube how to do that, it's very easy :)

    • @whatssewingon3511
      @whatssewingon3511  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much!
      I really like the look of the shorted then longer stitch and more curved/tapered tip of the darts.. so, I have only been doing it that way- I even made sure I stopped at the exact same length/line of plaid.. I don’t know, but it’ll just take practice

    • @whatssewingon3511
      @whatssewingon3511  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wool blend - but with matching patterns, even the slightest slip or tug from your foot could move the fabric and then it won't align -so knit foot moves them together
