“I can be the hero to my own story.”
Unlike Thai fighters for whom fighting is a way out of poverty, Sean Fagan of Muay Thai Guy didn’t need to fight for a living. He fought because he wanted to confront and overcome his own fears.
After a successful amateur career and building a strong online presence as the Muay Thai Guy, Sean decided to ride on the momentum and turn pro. But his journey as a pro didn’t quite work out the way he had envisioned.
He got knocked down 3 times in the first round in his first pro fight, and lost via TKO. He would lose his next 2 professional fights as well.
Enter self doubt: How can he still call himself the Muay Thai Guy and be 0-3? Should he just quit the fight life completely? Online haters and trollers add salt to the wound.
Listen to Sean’s story about how he dug deep to find the courage to face his doubts and fears. Perhaps it will inspire you to become the hero to your own story too.
Stay tuned for the full documentary.

Thanks so much for the feature man! It was a ton of fun and very emotional going through my career so far. Hopefully people can draw inspiration from my experiences inside and outside the ring!

Sean Fagan great stuff, guys. Really good story to share with everyone. Btw, did you know even Gökhan Saki apparently lost his first couple of fights too!? Perseverance is everything. You’ve come a long way with so much success especially out of the ring. Bravo. You’re an inspiration, mate😎👊🏽💯

Sean is a cool guy, very real and honest, no bullshit. Been following him a while and he has inspired me to push myself harder in sparring and fighting. It all scared the hell out of me when I started, still does in many ways but having guys like this out there talking openly really helps.

I really want to do muay thai but I'm 18 and just got a job and focusing on my courses happening soon, theres so much going on. Theres something about muay thai, whenever I watch combat sports nothing makes me feel the way muay thai makes me feel, I love ufc and boxing but I'd choose muay thai over that anyday. I swear my ancestors are thai 😂😂 cause damn the way it makes me feel when I watch muay thai, i dont know what it is, the clinching, knees, elbows, kicks, they make me face look like this-😍. I will start muay thai soon, soon I'll get my shit straight and balance my time

Great video, Lawrence. Sean Fagan puts out some of the best Muay Thai instructional videos on TH-cam and I'm a longtime subscriber of his. It's great to hear his story and this combined with your previous video of Ajarn Gae truly showcases the never say die mentality of Muay Thai fighters. Great job, again. #muaythai #4LIFE

Wow, superficially, I percieved him as fearless and dominating every fight. Now I see what a true hero he is by admitting that he is afraid and admitting his own vulnerabilities. Just like Georges St Pierre, these guys admit being afraid yet they face it; win or lose.

Even Mike Tyson was terrified before he got in the ring, to the point that he would be throwing up and trying to make up excuses not to fight. Finding that out blew my mind but helped me feel less out of place with my own fear. Good luck with your fight, own that fear and turn it into good energy!
