CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Sheila (Beverly D'Angelo) sings "Good Morning Starshine" while she drives with the others in a convertible.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Milos Forman's adaptation of the tribal rock musical Hair stars John Savage as Claude, a quiet young man from the Midwest who becomes friendly with a group of New York hippies on his way to begin basic training in the military. The repressed Claude is quite taken with Berger (Treat Williams) and the group of freedom seekers who reside in Central Park. The group encourages Claude to go after a debutante named Sheila (Beverly D'Angelo). Legendary choreographer Twyla Tharp masterminded the dances, which attempt to flow from the natural settings of the film. The film includes most of the more famous songs from the original play, including "Donna," "Aquarius," "Easy to Be Hard," "Let the Sunshine In," "Good Morning Starshine," and the title number.

My mother would wake me up singing this to me, many many moons ago as she would say. One of our favorite movies to watch together.
Its actually been the same moon. Earths always had only one moon. I can testify to this personally, due to my profession. (the overnight shift at Walmart) where i take, sometimes 8-9 cigarette brakes throughout. So, ive spent quite a lot of time staring up at the moon and can say with absolute certainty that there is only one.. smh, kids today..
As a friends 14 year old daughter asked when hearing this just recently - "Mum, why can't they write songs this good now?"

Beautiful crane shot at the end. Milos Forman really outdid himself in this film.
I just noticed that the main star in this scene is the hair of all of them. The guy was really good when he was good.
However, Beverly D'Angelo is NOT IN THE CAR in that final shot!
It is ... today we'd just deploy a drone ... I watched it a couple of times to convince myself it was a crane, but it's way too stable to be anything else. Masterful.

I always wondered why this song is "Good Morning Starshine" and not "Good Morning Sunshine". Yes, the Sun is a star, but no one who speaks English as a first language has said anything like, "The star is shining! What a beautiful day!" or "I should go outside and get some star light to wake me up."
Have you heard the lyrics of some of the other songs in this musical? Comparitively, these lyrics are quite sane and tame.

In the play, Sheila (who is a hippie activist from NYU) is in a relationship with Berger . Funny you asked .
@@AutismThespian1993 Yeah, I knew that, but the movie is totally different. So I'm confused, because in the film I "have to" believe that Sheila loves Bukowski more. But just from this scene it is obviously debatable.

in the blazing hot desert I think you can take off your coats and scarves
not every desert is hot allllll the time. especially in the early morning right after it was dark and cold all night
that's true. It doesn't look like morning when this was shot. But being in the Mojave desert around Fort Irwin training center California where this was filmed it does get mighty hot trust me. Anyway I was just being a smart ass of course its not hot all the time.

its not always hot during the day. just saying. I live in the desert and pipes freeze and break during winter.
From someone who's lived in the remote Australian Outback, deserts can get notoriously cold at night and in the early morning until the sun warms the day up - especially in winter.
