While I am grateful that you have uploaded this important extract from Sheikh Hamzah Yusuf's longer lecture, I truly sincerely need to caution your team in the way you create your titles for these videos, which can be very misleading and risk causing fitnah to Sheikh Hamzah, because not once did he say that the world is meaningless, and the excerpt he read was from a kitab of another scholar, read in context. Please be more careful. As you can already witness from the comments, some ignorant ones have already begun to condemn him. It is utterly unjust.
Really disagree on this one... the world itself is made of meaning. Life is inherently meaningful. I dont think we muslims should be so dismissive of the world... this does not seem consistent with Islamic thinking in my eyes.
not the point of the talk, Sheikh Hamza Yusuf is just trying to remind us that this world is completely temporary and we should be racing towards our eternal resting place (paradise, in sha Allah). To race there would mean to take care of ourselves and others in this world, not dismiss it entirely.
If the world is meaningless then, it follows, its creator is not be taken seriously to say the least.
In old days relegios people harsh in life because of relegions

Seems like he is reading from someone’s writing and giving his own commentary; be good to know the source.
