Everyone Will Be Building Chicken Coops Like This Now

- I built the ultimate mobile chicken coop that goes anywhere. It has every feature you can imagine on a backyard chicken coop. It has water misting, an rv ventilation fan, off-road wheels with a lift system, solar power, and a battery bank plus more! This coop has power so you can even heat it in the winter. It's a luxury DIY chicken coop built the HAXMAN way! I wish I could take credit for the jack and wheel idea on the chicken coop but I saw a picture of a smaller coop online where somebody did something similar. Unfortunately, the builder wasn't identified so I can't give them credit.

🐔 ingenuity- [ in-juh-noo-i-tee, -nyoo < ]
- the quality of being cleverly inventive or resourceful; inventiveness:a designer of great ingenuity.
- cleverness or skillfulness of conception or design: a device of great ingenuity.
🐓🤓
🐔 (0:59)- Annals comes from the Latin word annus, meaning year. As the word itself suggests, many annals are yearly records, but this is not always the case. You may encounter the word annals in the phrase “annals of history,” which refers not to one specific historical record but the collection of all recorded history.🐓🤓
🐔 (19:24)- Why is bird poop white?
Actually, bird poop, per se, is not white. Birds, unlike mammals, do not have separate exits for urine and feces. Both waste products are eliminated simultaneously through the cloaca. While mammals excrete nitrogenous wastes mostly in the form of urea, birds convert it to uric acid or guanine, which reduces water loss in comparison. Uric acid thus forms a white sticky paste. So the white part is actually bird pee; it is the dark center that is the poop.🦅🤓
🐔 What does PETA do?
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), goes after haxmen who drop kick their chickens into the neighbor's yard.🐓

You are to be commended for your humour and your editing skills, good sir!
Thank you!
The best in the home improvement sector IMO!
Let's be honest Adam. The Blue roof is to protect your family and the chickens from the space lasers. It's not just a Chicken Coop. It's a bug out shelter from the lasers.
But in other news....AMAZING COOP!
I’m so bummed. I meant to make a joke about that and I forgot. 😄
@@HAXMAN Once we are all gone it will only be the chickens who survive.
@@MajorChisholm We live in sad times, where blue roofs are a necessary part of any build...
(Remembering Lahaina) :(
Brilliant!!!! 😂😂
I always thought it would be cool if someone could come up with a roomba type device with programming that would monitor the chickens as the graze and move the tractor over when they're ready. Completely over engineered for a tractor coop, but the idea makes me smile!
Thank you! I have all these tools I don’t know how to use since the kids dad passed last year.
The way you go about explaining when, how and especially WHY is such a relief!
Most of the instructional creators on TH-cam just assume I would know enough to keep up with their narration. Well, it’s very discouraging to get completely lost half way through an instructional because you don’t understand a basic task ☹️
I was not lost even once during your tutorial. And you make me laugh! I actually feel good 😊
Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Thank you Gigi. I’m sorry for your loss.
Awesome coop.
If you're gonna go to the trouble of using wood glue, you might as well use the waterproof Titebond III.
For many years now I've been using Titebond III to paint (with brush or roller) on all surfaces of my outdoor wood projects before I apply paint. It acts like the ultimate primer -- hard and waterproof, and makes the wood last much much longer.
I've run tests on wood glues and titebond III performed much better than any other glue tested.
I'm gonna watch this a few times, cause mindblown
I just happened upon your video and boy. I’m glad I did. You’ve got quite the sense of humor you, your wife and your daughter. I thoroughly enjoyed watching you build the chicken coop, and I enjoyed all of your little interactions with the hawks.
Man, I would absolutely love the plans for this build. It's the way I need to build here in TX for our small yard. Maybe a bit large for our needs, but I love the idea of a tractor / run style that gives them grazing ability and keeps them safe from predators.
I would love to have a set myself. 😂
Not to step on Haxman's toes but there are several small farm channels on here who use chicken "tractors". A couple that come to mind are Hollar Homestead and Sow the Land. I believe they both have videos that show their builds.
@@HAXMANcome on Haxman, draw up those plans for us non genius types. 😂
Funny thing... I got a KFC ad on this video. Not the kind of chicken I want to have.
😄
😂😂🤣🤣🤣
So did i
Me too😢
Me also.
I love the humor in your video this was very time-consuming and hilarious at the same time keep the good editing and channel going brother I know it's a lot of work I love the idea of this chicken coop but I honestly could not afford to do it I don't think and the tools I'm a rigid man myself but I'm sure this will give a lot of inspiration for others again I love your humor
ahh man the Voldemort bit caught me off guard, laughed so loud i woke next doors baby up
😁
Always a treat to see a new video!
Thank you!
Chicken math ... it is real.
I watched my first HAXMAN yesterday. Frankly, I was surprised how entertaining & informative it was, way more entertaining than what I was expecting! No offense. This chicken coup sealed the deal & I’m now subscribed!
Rad! I suppose I’d have to put a slightly larger wheel with the kind of ground I’ve got. But a simple upgrade would be to modify the jacks to accept a drill/driver/etc to crank handle instead of doing it by hand.
I watched my first haxman video yesterday: your humour definitely makes these videos worth watching .
Also I’m enjoying this idea of the chicken coop, I want something similar in my garden (to keep the dog away from chickens when I get them)
Loved the video. Not only informational but funny as hell. The only thing I would change is the nestboxes. I would spend the money and use a roll out nest box. Cleaner eggs and no damage to the eggs. Other than that seems like a perfect build for a small flock.
Very good, this is the standard of quality people should be striving for, it's better to build something to last, congrats on your build.
Master Craftsmanship, Showmanship and Educational film...all in one! You...are the King, yes wifey...there will be no livin with his genius self now! Bravo! Great Great Video!
Great video and always nice to see a square head screws in the video. A trick I learned when caring sheets of plywood is stand it tall put your back to it, and then put your hands on the edges while squatting just a little bit hold onto it and lean forward, carry it like a backpack. Great videos always be safe. Keep the chicken safe.
The hawk poo in the face had me rolling. Love the coop!
Awesome work as always. I remember finding your channel a few years back and was shocked you only had like 32k subscribers. Glad you are over half a million. You will break the million mark in no time. Great build and great bullshit. Keep rollin!
Thank you!
I'm glad to see that you've built a better stronghold for your feathered friends. It seems to be well fortified against land predators, air predators and space lasers. Well done!
Thank you!
Switch to Koop Klean for bedding!!! The bark causes bumble foot and the Koop Klean is soft chopped up hay, I use the deep litter method in winter and it works beautifully. Definitely can’t use the deep litter method in summer in Florida but I still use the KKlean and it is soft and absorbent so each evening I done a pretty blue throw away glove and clean any dirty litter out of the coop and add another layer of KK. It costs $27.00 a bale that is compressed, so you get a lot of it in a bale. No more bumble foot for my ducks and chickens. I do use foot covers on my girls if the seem to be limping and it had been a tremendous advantage. Amazon had them. I bought a pair made patterns and make them for my girls. I could have patterned them but keeping a chicken or duck still long enough without getting pooo all over was not worth it 😂😂
You guys are so funny!! And so talented!! I tried not to be jealous of your great woodworking skills! Ha!!
Just when I was wondering where the hell the Haxman's been, a video pops up. It's not even my birthday. Rad!
I love it when Homesteading BobbyDukeArts uploads a new video
I’m really disappointed in you…..no big screen for the chickens 🤣
Just found you.. subbed.. lol
You're a hoot brah!
Great channel.. thank you!
:)
it is called chicken math!!!
I Hate you!! haha I was drawing up plans to do something exactly like this! Now if i put a video out, everyone will say i copied you! awesome job though, man!
I hate it when that happens. 😄
Getting me pumped to come back to the states and rebuild my coop. The humor was on point!
Woah!!! Nice Chicken Coop! I’m only 45 seconds in and a chicken already got sent into orbit 😂
😂 Thanks Roy!

New subscriber here, I am loving your videos, I have watched 3 in a row now. You need your own TV Show! 🤣❤👍
Wow, thank you!
Okay, I am so happy to have my first set of chickens, I have been begging my husband for years.... but coming upon this video is even more glorious. You are awesome, keep making videos!!!
Hawks are my Spirit animal. LOVED your moment at the meeting. I held my breath thinking that hawk would go for a finger when the food went flying. OUCH!!
WOW - the world needs more Haxman men, for sure, for sure. Well done, you well-skilled hunk of capabilities. 🏆♥
😄 Thank you!
U r hilarious! I wish I could build the way u do. Generally I don't watch videos that require such a high level of skill, tools, materials, etc, but it was so much fun I have subscribed!
Wow, thank you!
Hi we are new to your channel and oh my goodness how gorgeous is that you can go every little detail I loved it I watched it a few times so far peace and blessings to you and your family stay encouraged and encouraging be good to yourself 💯♥️Ms. Piper and The Powers's Family USA 🇺🇸🙏💜🕯️
I love your interactions with your children.❤ Mine often come into the workshop too just to be with me.
loving the new build videos. great humor. you seem to be having fun doing this new format and it shows in the quality of the content.
Thank you very much!
You are a wonderful source of information in so many subjects. While I don't (and won't) have chickens, I do plan on a greenhouse and some of these ideas a great for that. Thank you for what you do. (and for the chuckles along the way). Wishing you prosperity and safety in 2024 and beyond.
Thank you
We have bobcat issues they even took our guinea off the roof.
Great video👏 you never fail to disappoint and of course you're freaking hilarious 😂.
Now I have a question ❓ you mentioned you used treated 2×4s and I noticed you painted all sides of the wood.
I was told if you fully paint pre treated wood it will rot from the inside because pretreated wood needs to breath.
Can someone clarify this for me, please🤔🙏.
Thanks 😊
Thanks! I’m not an expert but I’ve done it for years and never had a problem.
@@HAXMAN thank you for the reply back, that's good to know 🙂
You don really do follow up videos to show subscribers how things hold up or things you’d do differently. Would love to see how your PVC plant towers are doing a year later
I have missed you and your antics. Thx for a new video ❤😊
Thanks so much!
Thank you!
This is one of the best videos I have seen on TH-cam.
You are realy making awesome videos. Such creative ideas , loved the message to the HAWK
Investing money and time for videos is what gets you subscribers and more $$$ later.
I subscribed because I see fun, laughter and no politics.
A gigantic Hi from Arizona to You and your Family
I admire and even envy your skills and expertise. This is a formidable challenge for the average person. You are far above average and you have the tools already. By the time I buy tools, materials and plans, I might as well buy the Carolina Coop. DIYs are not always cost effective for everyone. But I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. The hen house and run are truly amazing.
My husband and I are finishing our first coop build by ourselves. Found this video after a long day of building and man that was fantastic!!! I never expected to find this level of production quality on a chicken coop video. The chickens are kinda my thing but my husband goes along with it. This is the perfect type of content to get him to watch with me because it's entertaining and not bland like most chicken content. Keep at it!
Thank you! Best wishes on your build.
You voice overing your wife was perfection
Ditch the hand cranks and hook ur wireless drill up to it for raising, save your shoulder it’s the 21st century
As my son would say, you just need a gun. Too bad about the galvanize, it would have blinded the hawks as they tried to spot your chickens lol. Pretty awesome coop!
Just a kudos to your outstanding song selection ;) Oh and awesome idea for the coop!
This is the best channel on TH-cam. Very enjoyable video. I doubt I’ll ever need a chicken coupe, but I watched this entire video enthusiastically. Amazing.
Thank you so much!
Pressure washer will probably take the paint off the concrete pretty easily
Have you thought about adding a gutter and hooking up a farmer brad automatic chicken waterer to make watering your chickens easier?
2:12 - An Atlanta HAWK or maybe an Atlanta FALCON 😊
!!Great job with hearing protection But NO Eye Protection?? Awesome Chicken Residence!
The Harry Potter bit killed me. Well done sir.
You're my new Fav. Brother. I can't stop watching. This just inspired me on how to handle my crazy wife's great idea of bringing home 18 chicks from TS. 😂🤜🏻🤛🏻💪🏼 Game on!!!
Am I the only who thinks HAX could be BobbyDukeArts older brother? haha
Just found your channel and oh my goodness I want one!!! My husband just retired from the army after 20+ yrs and we moved out to the country. I started looking at prices for coops 🤦🏼♀️! Shut the front door! Living just a little NW of Fort Hood, (yes I know it’s now Fort Cavazos) I need this coop!! Being an extreme city girl and raising my 3 children (35,27,12) in the city. I am so honored to learn a different way of life and being able to expose my youngest child to it. We have 10 white tail Doe’s and 4 Bucks that come in our yard daily. Once at 6:45 am and then again at 8:10 pm. I go out in the yard with them (about a foot away) and throw some apple corn for them. Goodness knows if I’m not paying attention they let me know!! 🤣 We just started growing herbs and jalapeños. I can’t wait to venture beyond.
Inspiring. Awesome build and worth the wait. Keep it up 🤠
Glad to see you doing videos again! We missed you.
Thanks! These videos are taking me longer. Did you see the camper in the last video?
Oh how I hate thee Haxman!! 😉
Over the years I have built many coops for friends and family - I thought I was a Master ChickenCooper… let’s just say that once again you have proven that you are my nemesis!! Best overall build form/function I have ever seen. Well done 👍🏼!!!
Chicken coop is awesome. I hate to show this to my wife.I can hear her now. “ DO ONE LIKE THAT” “PLEASE”😮😂. Me as usual.. ok🤪
Now... I'm fairly sure... hawks with a British accent would have responded with a lawyer with their own terms... The hawks you have, I think are communist hawks... they want you to do all the work, and still have their 'snacks'... 😂
Love your video. If I might suggest; absolutely no paint where chickens live. If they start getting sick'ish, go to heaven alot, then check where they were pecking inside. Again like you film's humor. Sub
A black belt in bullshito is an excellent skill set 😂😂😂😂😂I promised God when I fine a word that expresses bullshito better that I will never say it again……😂😂😂😂😂
I'm subscribed and turned on the notifications a couple of years ago, when I tripped over your channel. For some reason, I don't get consistently notified when you drop a new video. What's up with that?
Glad that you have a black belt in bull-shito. Ha - very nice!
I wish I had a neighbor / friend like you that was into projects like I am. ... it'd be a blast building with you!!!!!
RE the English accent for the hawk lol, may I just gently chastise you, because in my experience, you have the accent of somebody from kind of like one of the southern or what you call the south, which is where #FoghornLeghorn is really popular I used to love that cartoon when I was a kid and I loved Eggbert and I also loved the little chicken hawk and the chicken hawk. I’m a chicken hawk and youre a chicken, so I am going to eat you. he just kinda had a maybe wayward use #OurGang type of speech where he had problems with his Rs They sounded like Ws if you know what I’m talking about. His name was #HeneryHawk
I wish I saw this video before I built my coop. That hardware cloth was HORRIBLE. It’s so difficult to work with
🙋🏼♀️🕊. Hi there. You made a chicken Castle for chickens 💞🕊💞🕊💞🕊
As soon as I saw those little wheels, I was like OMG your not doing that are you? I would suggest much larger diameter wheels. You could even make your own carriage wheels like they did in the old days. Not less than 20 inch diameter in my opinion. Bicycle wheels probably cant hold the weight. Then I would rig a lever raising mechanism. Bring the leveraged bar down and it raises the coop, lower it and the coop falls, or vice versa. The bigger the wheels the easier to move over rough or muddy terrain.
Oh wow! You're going to give the Carolina Coops guy a run for his money! Nicely done.
(Im super sorry for the really long comment/question but i don't know what to do and wanted to explain the entire situation im having. Please bare with me, lol.)
Sooo, ive had chickens for roughly a year now. I had absolutely ZERO knowledge whatsoever about caring for them. I kinda got thrown into being a caretaker unexpectedly and with no choice, at all.
But, i live basically in the woods and the coop is about 120-150' behind my house next to my pool barn. Ive been lucky and never had any issues with predators...
UNTILLLL the other night. I caught a raccoon lurking around inside of their fenced area where they roam.
I have 4 wireless Zmodo cameras right next to the coop/cage thingy watching everything. I have 2 outside the coop/cage thingy watching the front door and 2 inside the coop/cage. One watches the entire inside of it and the other actually is watching the inside of their of the actual wooden coop where they sleep and lay eggs and also a motion light that is secured to the top of the coop directly above the door.
Soo, I just watched to see if this raccoon could get in ane sure enough, he found a spot where i made a mistake and was able to basically walk right in. The bottom of the door was loose enough that he was able to squeeze in with no issues. I panicked and immediately ran up there in my shorts and slides and a flashlight only. As soon as the raccoon saw my light, he freaked out and i dont know if he ripped a hole into the chicken wire cage or if it was already there and i didnt notice it. Either way, he got out. Thankfully he did because he would have been freakin out and cornered when i ran in there not even thinking about him attacking me because he was cornered.
But, i fixed the hole in the chicken wired cage with a bunch of zipties and i blocked the bottom of the door off and i made sure the entire door was tightly closed so nothing could get in.
I was out there until 1:30 in the morning securing everything. About 20 mins after i was done with that and went back inside, he came back!! He couldn't get in this time, but now he knows theres a large hole in the back corner of it.
I set a trap at like 2:00 in the morening and watched. He out smarted me and actually was able to drag this large trap and pull it sideways which triggered the door to close. So, he just grabbed and pulled pieces out from the cage and just ate it that way. But, now he knows there are chickens there and theres a weak spot in the chicken wire.
He came back last night and i caught him working on that same exact spot where he made this hole that i repaired. He was making good progress on ripping this chicken wire. I fixed it, again and this time, i decided to put a small radio out there and leave it on. i was hoping that the talking and human voices would keep him away thinking there are humans back there. He didnt come back However, our power went out for a minute the next day and i forgot about the radio. I checked the cameras last night and there he was!! working on that hole again because the radio wasnt on. I think having a radio on really helps keeping them away because when its on he won't come around.
But, what can i do to strengthen that chicken wire?!? It seems like its not strong enough to handle their strength and now idk what to do..
Wow! Awesome! How much a month to rent and when can I move in... LOL 🤣 😂 🤣. This build is too good for chicken. Great job 👍
Outstanding project. Went out last week and spent about $5000 for the tools and stored them in the guest room. Can't afford the chickens now with the divorce settlement. Never thought I would have to choose between her and the chickens.....oh well.
Excellent video and great shots and camera work. You two rock!!!. Amazing chicken coop. Thanks for the video 😁👍🚜💨☀️
Thanks Mitch!
AMAZING! I am in Central Florida and want a coop. How do you protect from predators? We are having a terrible time with coyotes.
Love your videos! Humor and really educational. I always thought there has to be a way to make a coop solar for lights etc. just not sure how to do that. Hope to have a coop-not sure what family would want to help build it. I like Carolina Coops and your plan is similar without the cost! Built sturdy! Great idea to make it moveable! Thanks!
Have you considered getting a dog? Nate Petroski from Narroway Homestead has 2.
Edit: Okay, you have dogs. They can be trained to bark at the birds of prey.
Holy hawks, Batman. How much time did you spend on this project? With that said, I really enjoyed watching this. 😃
First time watching your video. Great job on the chicken tractor. Love your humor!!!! Very entertaining!
You sir, are the Dad I wish I'd been. Great sense of humor, mad skills, and just based on this video you get a sub! I want to start with a few chickens but time is an issue and a place to put a coop out of the wind (blows almost non stop where I am during the winter and I would feel like crap if I went out and my birds were frozen solid), but it will happen eventually. I love building and do the best I can with limited workspace and tools. I like using old pallet wood I get for free to make things that are useful and don't look bad. Anyways, great video!
Super cool chicken condo. I kept wondering how that massive coop would be moved out of the driveway. My son just made me a 16' x 8' hoop coop run and the chickens love it. We have hawks here as well.
😮😂 enjoyed this. I am familiar with all those jobs done by a farm raised husband.Thankfully you displayed only the good humor part. Is that even possible?
Also all holes drilled expose end grain which is basically a sponge…that’s a beautiful chicken coop so go back and caulk over those screw heads with a light film of caulk. It won’t keep you from being able to remove screws at a later date but it will keep your coop alive for many many more years than if you don’t.
Get some black chickens to mix in with your flock. Hawks can't tell the difference between chickens and crows. Hawks do not like crows they'll leave your chickens alone. Well it helps.
So, I learned I shouldn't watch your videos while in the cubed-office environment... haha
Ha! To use the words of my gma. Well I’ll be John Brown. It’s the Tah Mahal of Coops. Take that Hawks!
Just throwing this out there: I found that the Ace brand construction adhesive works every bit as well as the name brand stuff for significantly less.
This may be a silly question but I got to know. What are the big holes in the table for? Beautiful chicken coop. I was going to ask you if those tires were to narrow for a rainy season, but you answered that question. I wish you had the plans for this coop to sell.
They are for a downdraft sanding table vacuum. I wish I had the plans to sell too. 😂
watching you screw that roof down in the valleys hurt my soul man. Put screws in the PEAK and they almost never leak even if the screw head breaks off.
That chicken math came in to play part way through and you didn’t even know it was time for chicken math
The issue I have Is. How much did the total cost of the chicken coup and feed compare with the eggs and meat ? I can only have 3 and no roosters so buying eggs is still cheeper ( but not as healthy).
