DJI MINI 4 Pro D-Log M Color Grading Tutorial

- The DJI Mini 4 Pro is a great drone but let's see how easy it is to color grade the D-Log M footage from the Mini 4 Pro inside of Premiere Pro. D-Log M on the Mini 4 Pro is decent but it is not full D-log. The DJI Mini 4 pro color grading process is a little easier but you aren't able to push and pull the colors, contrast, and dynamic range.

Thank you for watching! These photography videos are usually directed at beginner photographers. Take the photography tips and tricks with a grain of salt and try to understand the tips from a beginner photographer's point of view.
❤❤very good video
naisu! thanks m8
Nice vid. U helped me so much
Glad I could help!
@@Watzac only bc of you i got the 600d and the fifty nifty from canon i could impress my mom the buy me one you are truly amazing for real
Also thanks for the video!
No problem!
Hey thanks for the info! Is there anyway to color grade on the iPhone or do you need a good computer to do it?
hello can you make tutorial for color grading and masking ? in davinci its called magic mask wich automaticly select subject and tracks it down and i can put color mask in it if its possible in premiere pro too
Another great video. Really gotta get my color grading lessons in. When you do your own color grading do you relay a lot or half on presets
Thanks dude, appreciate the love! I do 1 of 2 things, I either grade like you saw and then apply a lut and dial the intensity waaaaay down or I start with a lut, see what it looks like roughly and then kill off the intensity, adjust contrast and white balance then slowly increase the intensity until I get it to where I want it to be!
@@Watzac thank you for the reply brother !
Great tutorial, thanks! When you record D-Log M (in my case DJI Mini 4 Pro with ND-Filters) video, does it make sense to just leave camera options at Auto? Or will this ruin or make color grading worse? As a beginner I don't have much experience with Pro settings, so wondering if Auto was an option. 😊
My pleasure dude! Auto will make things tougher to colour grade as the settings are changing while you're filming. Best to lock them in and make sure the exposure is good when you start filming and then you can / have to adjust every time the light changes or you move significantly.
Hi Zac, thank you for the tutorial, it's really helpful. There are lut available at DJI website to convert D-Log M to rec 709. May I know if is there any particular reason that you follow another method?
Hey dude! I much prefer to have full control over my grade. The the conversion lut does a great job to get you closer to an end product though!
@@Watzac exactly the answer I was looking for as well. Thanks!
I feel like a novice would have to learn a lot before this video is of any use. It’s very advanced.
I agree but shooting log is for advanced shooters.
So whenever I add a mask to L color, the rest of my edits disappear so I end up having to add an adjustment layer and create a mask under opacity. How are you able to do this without these extra steps?
Hmm interesting! I’ve never heard of this or come across this issue 🤔 I’m not sure I can help you out here, sorry 🙁
Using the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone, DJI D-Log M mode, the Rec.709 LUT (Lookup Table) DJI gave us is not suitable for direct HDR video production. I tried to make HDR many times, but the color gamut required by HDR is Rec.2020, DJI can't provide Rec.2020 LUT, and no company on the Internet provides it. We must understand that Rec.709 is a color space and gamma curve designed for standard dynamic range (SDR) video, while HDR video uses a different color space (such as Rec.2020) and gamma curve (such as PQ or HLG).

Do you not need to convert the D-log M footage to rec 709?
can you do that in Premiere?
