    You know I don’t really understand why your views are so low man! This video really explains everything and is super complex! I’ve been working at a motorcycle shop lately as a mechanic and honestly transmission stuff is the only thing I really needed a freshen up on but man I gotta say thank you so much, cause basically with any two stroke the transmission is gonna work the same! I love how detailed your work is and I would be definitely looking forward to getting in contact with you in the future!!! We should start a little side hussle helping our friends and stuff build their bikes to where they wanna be! Let me know if you do any kind of machine work or anything man! • @GarageAddiction

    • @jordanerickson478
      @jordanerickson478 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GarageAddiction I ended up figuring it out. The rod,ball, plunger was easy to follow. It was the push rod that falls through the case that activates the clutch that I couldn’t see. Mine slipped out an inch while I installed basket . Just had to remove basket and seat the push rod fully before putting the rod, ball and plunger in.

      Taking the clutch off is 15:00 - 20:00 in reverse. Need to take off the whole right side cover, the clutch pack (bolts, springs, plates), the plunger, nut, washer, and then the baskets. What are the main causes of the bottom end going bad besides running it low on oil?

    • @GarageAddiction
      @GarageAddiction  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wear over time or lack of oil are probably the biggest contributors. I've had cranks and bearings last well over 200 hours running 32:1 in all my minis. The YZ I just replaced them while I was in there, they were still in great shape.

      I believe I used an impact to get it off. You can use the clutch tool in the basket to lock up the gear or I’ve heard everyone talk about a penny in the gear mesh to lock it up but I’ve never felt too keen on putting that much torque on a penny in the gears.

    • @FoursquareT
      @FoursquareT 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Garage Addiction I have a gear lock tool but won’t work because the basket is too close the bolt to get a socket on it.

    • @GarageAddiction
      @GarageAddiction  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh you know, that sounds familiar, I may have ended up holding the rotor on the other side of the engine with a strap wrench to torque it. I think it’s in the ballpark of 60lbs which should be doable without an impact if you’ve got another set of hands.

    Amazing video man!! A+++ 👍👌💪
    I had a question for you, I'm buying a 2015 yz85, and I guess the chain came off the rear sprocket and bound up in the front. I guess now it only goes into neutral and third. Any idea what the problem could be? Where I should start? I work on cars, and put a big boar kit on my pitbike awhile back, but this will be my first attempt working on the transmission (if that's even the problem). It definitely looks like you know what your doing, any help would be very appreciated 🙂 thanks again for your the amazing video!! Cheers

    • @GarageAddiction
      @GarageAddiction  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! You could start by looking at the shift star by pulling off the right side cover but my guess is something grenaded in the transmission which means you’ll have to split the cases and see what let go.

    • @FloridaBikeSupplyOnline
      @FloridaBikeSupplyOnline 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GarageAddiction You were totally right. It looks like a gear popped and pushed out (or split) the right side crankcase. There was pieces of a gear and a big hole once I opened up the side. I just ordered a bottom end that needs a new crank, and I'm hoping I can reuse the crank that's in there right now. I'm not sure if the bent crank in the new bottom end might have messed up bearings and seals? Is there a way to tell if the bearings and seals are bad in the bottom end I just ordered? I've watched your video here like 30 times, I feel like I already know this thing front to back lol. Thanks again for all your help, your a god!

    • @GarageAddiction
      @GarageAddiction  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FloridaBikeSupplyOnline If you need to swap the crank I would just do bearings and seals at the same time. It would suck to do all the work splitting the cases just to find a bearing goes out a few miles down the road. You can put a little load on the inner race and spin it to see how it feels, it should feel fairly easy to spin and be free of any notchiness or gritty action. Seals are harder but if there is any indication of oil weeping past they're bad.

    • @FloridaBikeSupplyOnline
      @FloridaBikeSupplyOnline 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, sorry for asking so many questions! 🙂 Your fast at responding and always have great info 👍👌 So I noticed that my swingarm is missing the rear chain guide mount. I didn't notice it when I bought it, I guess it there was a bunch of little problems 🤔 any thoughts on how I can fabricate one? Or should I just buy a new swingarm? Or do you think it'll make a big deal? Other then guiding the chain and keeping it from comming off, I read that it's also there to protect feet from getting sucked up in the chain and sprocket? I'd love to save some money, I'm kinda broke atm. I could afford the chain guide itself, but buying a new swingarm for just the chain guide mount kinda sucks. What do you think, have you ever ran across a problem like that? Thanks again for everything, your the man! Cheers

    • @GarageAddiction
      @GarageAddiction  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Chris Cameron I have the mount on my kx65 but I don't run a guide on it. I'm only on asphalt and not jumping the bike so I'm not too worried. You could probably make a bracket that clamped around the swingarm with the mounting points for one pretty easily by bending some steel flat bar. If you or someone you know can weld aluminum you could probably cut up some round stock and remake the original mounts. You might also be able to find a used swingarm on ebay for cheap but that's a lot of work for a little bracket.

    You had to pull the crank through on the stator side again because you didnt align the rod correctly when you pulled it through the first time, good way to bend the rod and destroy the crank 🤦‍♂️

    • @GarageAddiction
      @GarageAddiction  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the dial indicator, the smaller bit goes through completely to allow the indicator through and the bigger bit is to make a hole for the shoulder to sit in the plug.
