    • Lament of Isis and Nep...
Nefertiti, the legendary queen of Akhenaten, ruled Egypt during the 2nd century BC.
In this piece it is imagined that Nefertiti dreams of the magical birds of the Tuat, the land which ran parallel to Egypt, surrounded by a vast range of mountains.
The Tuat began where the sun set and ended near the place where the sun god Ra rose. Along the river that ran through it were many kinds of magical creatures, including birds of all kinds. When Nefertiti awakens she remembers the song of the birds and she along with the court musicians created the music heard here.
The music here seeks to evoke a magical otherworldly scene from those ancient times, and the instruments and sounds within are thought to originate from the realm of dreams.
The CD of Ancient Egyptian music is available on CD Baby, iTunes and Amazon.

Thanks for the detailed and informative commentary. We still only have a fragmented understanding of the profound mysteries of ancient Egyptian religion and their world view.

We are the decendants of Pharoah Akhenaten - Moses from his grandson King Gaedhealh who went to Ireland in 1389BC and founded the Gael people as the name Gael derived from his name! And he named Scotland after his mother in Egypt Princess Scota!

Thank you Dawoud Kringle, for listening and the kind words. You are correct - we will never know what ancient Egyptian music really sounded like, but so much of our music has the secret presence of ancient music embedded deeply within it.
