Chaps work I never liked them till I had a kick back on a fire in Oregon and it stopped the chain on my 064 Sthil we used with the North Umpqua USFS fire crew. Saved my right knee

@@davestinson5691 Yes, the Kevlar strands bind up the sprocket, and the chain stops. Instantly. Then you get to think about how the chaps saved your leg while you clean out the mess in the sprocket. If you ever had this experience, I promise you won't start a saw without them. Stay safe!

If you’ll put an elbow pointing down coming out of the filter it will keep your hose from breaking down. Great videos. I enjoy watching.

Makita's good kit. I use a lot of it.
As for the chaps & helmet: Please use them - I ran a forestry business from 1979-84 & always wore eye, ear & head protection. Came very close to a bad cut through not wearing kevlar inserts one time, with the chain brake on the saw being my saviour (36 years later, I still have the same Husqvarna 266, though it's not seen much use in 25 years).

I watched the 'New Chainsaw And Plow Truck' video a few days ago and the lack of safety kit was worrying... legs, arms and fingers just dont grow back!. good on Makita, we run a couple of the smaller Makita's ( the 36v battery saw is a great tool in own right) saws for quick and simple jobs but all our others are Husky.... lol weird really as I was a Stihl repair tech for many years!

I was in a tree with a new saw and was holding it in an odd position when the saw grazed my pants. I instantly let go of the trigger and saw a streak on my pants from the teeth. Almost had a heart attack. Next day ordered some saw pants. It was my one chance warning from the big guy upstairs and I was not going to ignore it.

always helmets, I cut a tree down, a clean drop into a field, the ground shaking was enough for a leaning rotted tree to break apart and a piece of the truck hit me, it scraped down my face and broke my leg, that close to death, ALWAYS wear a helmet

My wife works at the local hospital in Blenheim (top of NZ South Island) and forestry workers are second only to farm workers regards accidents at her ED department. To be fair, I think those forestry incidents are more crush than cuts, but they certainly see some chainsaw related accidents.

Just a suggestion....you might want to add a 90 degree elbow between the hose and filter. My hose developed a kink at this point, summer heat helped the hose to kink more easily. With the elbow the hose hangs straight.

Those Chaps could save a leg or your life Chris , I have seen a demonstration film how they clog up and stop the chain quickly.
I saw a woman on British TV. 29/06/2020 (d/m/y), on a game show called ‘Pointless’ she was being asked what she did in her spare time at home. She replied, “I watch TH-cam, of a man in the U.S.A. digging holes , making ponds with an excavator , with the camera mount behind him and you see all of the digging” . Noted the nipple was galvanized pipe. Old rule of thumb, never use copper or galvanized pipe or fittings etc with diesel fuel. The zinc in the galvanizing will be leached out by the sulfur in the fuel. Same for copper, The ionized metal is then in a form that can travel throughout the fuel system. The biggest issue is that when injected into the cylinders it can clog the injector tips causing them to dribble instead of spray. I've had numerous problems with such over the years. In fact I've walked away from stationary engines that had such in place, telling the customer why and that when you get that fixed I will come back and repair your issue. It doesn't tale much to occlude the micro hole that atomizes the fuel.

I think the Hitachi is fine, might come in handy where you might have to leave an escavator somewhere, or good for breakdows, one breaksdown, have the lowboy deliver usable one and send in the other if it can move. Also while that new Volvo goes in for a new bucket, Old Betsy will run the show. That last job had a lot of concrete aroung the pipe. They used a 700 series komatsu to lift 9' by 9' precasts for a storm drain. Smaller 330 did the digging.

Very Nice Samples from Makita. Using a Chainsaw without wearing Chaps is Dangerous because if things go South, you have NO chance to make it since you’re out in the Woods away from Civilization. It’s the Biggest Mistake someone using a Powersaw can make. Owning a pair of Chaps is one thing but taking the few minutes to put them on is a different story. They Can and Will Save your Butt, I Guarantee it. 👍

Please tell me you didn't just use white plumbers teflon tape ... aren't you supposed to use fuel resistant yellow or blue teflon tape? Great vids sir!

I've been working with jet fuel for 34 years and al I've seen used was the white tape.
