I deliberately drew this map to not resemble any existing landmarks in North, Central, or South America (I served my mission in Panama and Costa Rica, so I am very aware of what this area looks like). The Church takes no official position on where the events of the Book of Mormon took place in Ancient America. It could have occurred in South, Central, or North America, the Yucatan Peninsula, Baja California, or in the United States. This is just a fun reference of the many cities and lands described in the Book of Mormon. We should not be distracted by geography, but focus on this wonderful book's true message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
America is a continent, not a country. If you take it at that mark, this answer is completely correct. If you want to narrow it down to one country, specifically the United States of America, don't be surprised if you found out that this hypothesis could be very wrong.

@@ponderfun4318 that is a very smart answer. We simply do not know where everything happened. Too many people like to cherry pick references that support their models. I served my mission in Chiapas Mexico and there's a bunch of history and legends down there. I find the Chibcha hypothesis quite interesting too (from northern South America up to about Nicaragua).

Thank you and yes, totally agree with your statement.
Thanks. It was interesting to see how many people have very strong opinions about the geography in the Book of Mormon.
Don't be duped by this fantasy map! The events of the Book of Mormon happened in ancient America.

So according to the map..Zarahemla was " Venezuela"!. The Land of Bountiful "Panamà", Desolation.."Mexico".
