I'm 26 my biggest regret is not becoming a fire fighter dreamt of this as a job since I was barley walking. So much respect for what they do and for salaries way under what's deserved.
Never too late I own a construction company and still became a firefighter EMT at 28 I am now 34 still work shifts and run a construction company along with being a former Marine and current coast guard auxiliary with a wife and 3 kids so trust me you can do it just have to want to hard work though
MIchael - WHAT are you waiting for???? You're still young and can do anything you put your mind to. GO FOR YOUR DREAM because life is just too damn short!! If you don't at least try it to be sure that's what you really want to do, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. Trust me......I know!!
After I graduate I’m gonna become a firefighter! Can’t wait! It may look hard but that’s why you train and after I’m pretty sure you will be good at it
This is absolutely OUTSTANDING!!!! I dare anyone anywhere to put down ANY fire department after watching this. KUDOS to each and every one of them. May they stay safe and know there are those out here who appreciate everything they do. God bless you all!
These videos are great . A lot of people think firefighters sit around all day waiting for something to happen. We train mentally physically practice firefighting and rescue skills. to perfection .high angle rescue subterranean rescue water rescue.Nearly all are cross trained certified firefighters and medics.Ready for anything that happens. Then we sit around and wait.
Update: it’s crazy that it’s been 3 years since my last comment. But I’m 18 and graduating high school and I go to academy in august. My dream is coming a reality!
The mix of the music and time lapse at 15:12 really drives me to working towards being a firefighter. The amount of dedication, passion and brotherhood that is needed is incredible. Its amazing to see how the best of the best work together to save the lives of the community. I've always had a passion for firefighting ever since I was in elementary school. It started when I saw my cousin graduate from the Florida Fire College. Now I'm 15 and my passion has only grown stronger. This video drives me to workout, research, and do everything I can to be prepared to become a firefighter. I look forward to progressing towards firefighting.
All done in 100+ degree heat, the typical temperature for half the year. I see them doing drill time all the time when the academy isn't running. Those 2 water tanks in the horizon hills segment can be seen when you look south from the 215 going into henderson.

How do you even get a slot into the academy? I’ve made a few calls but it’s only to take the test in Las Vegas? I’m currently in the marines and getting my EMT cert for when I get out.
Most firefighter runs are for wrecks, anyhow. BUT-I've always wondered what would happen if ALL homes and old tenements had sprinkler systems?? MUCH fewer casualties, but also less jobs for the FD
Contact the firehouse near you and talk to the guys there. I'm sure they would be happy to talk to you! They'll point you in the right direction to get all the info. you need. Good luck!
I did my training with 19 others . This class has too many students. How much hands on ate they getting. Looks like they spend more time running around and in that heat is just asinine in bunker gear !
Yeah some academies are there to just kick the shit out of you instead of actually teaching you. I went to an academy like that. The first day the literally told us to “memorize the book” how are you supposed to memorize a 1,600 page book? It’s not possible. They had us not only have the 1,600 page firefighter textbook but also an 800 page hazmat book so about 2,000 pages of material to learn without them actually teaching us the material. Tests would be half written questions with the lead instructor picking obscure passages in the text to ask questions over. We also weren’t supposed to be allowed study materials, outlines etc. We would start the day with almost 2 and a half hours of PT. Physically it got us in good shape but we weren’t doing well in the classroom at all.
Some fire academies run like military training with similar discipline and shaving their heads but once you’re a firefighter you can grow your hair but it does help to have short hair and little facial hair
Man the fire academy needs to do things military style. No one says sir yes sir. No one walks in position of attention with their hands locked to their side. Jeeze

Walt King Chill out man. Of course veterans deserve mad respect, but have some humility about it. There’s nothing unheroic about being a civilian fireman, and I tend to believe in the institution of fire/rescue/EMS a little more than the military. Take this as respectfully as possible, but having guns pointed at each other at all times to keep the peace is kind of a sad testament to mankind. It’s nothing more than a sometimes necessary evil.
@@pixelgamer2579 I guarantee you I had more guns pointing at me in Fallujah in a month then any civilian police officer has in their whole 25-30 year career and I've been out of the military 12 years but I'm a Federal officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons civilian police and First Responders our local public employees no different than any other local public employee they're free to quit and walk off their jobs whenever they want just like I am now as federal employee unlike the military who can be charged with AWOL or desertion in a dishonorable discharge but whatever you're free to have your opinion thanks to the military and veterans like I said Memorial Day is coming up go to the parade or event I see some of my fellow veterans!!😀😀😀

Theyre not just putting fires they conducted most kind of responses and rescue operations...still their services is in dire needed...
Are most academy’s similar to this training? Like the yes sir! Stuff and army posture etc?
Yes - very disciplined. Watch more of these training videos here on You Tube. They're really interesting to watch.
Here in the Phils firemen train like a military training...were part of the uniformed service...
How much college do you need it do you not need any to be a fire fighter I’m in 7th grade and I wanna be a fire fighter when I’m older
You need a 2 year college degree for it i know because im going to be a firefighter starting in a few months the classes
Depends on which state and county you live in
Anyone know how and what I should do/get in order to look good for a fire department?
Contact the firehouse near you and talk to the guys there. I'm sure they would be happy to talk to you! They'll point you in the right direction to get all the info. you need. Good luck!
Why has everyone had their head shaved?
To prevent it from getting stuck on things/their gear and it's easier to put on their gear.
No hair to wash and dry ----- oh the joy!!!

JT Turner alright thx sir I'm just trying to learn as much as possible so when I graduate highschool I can go straight to becoming a firefighter
U have to be bald?
Ephraim Alexis short hair yes
Some fire academies run like military training with similar discipline and shaving their heads but once you’re a firefighter you can grow your hair but it does help to have short hair and little facial hair
No! It's just easier to deal with but it has to be no more than a certain length.
It's a lot easier if you have short hair. Keeps it from getting caught, burnt, pulled etc.
Great I tuck that job and a got burnt
