Very well made! Thank you for putting this video up. It makes for a great resource for my gym where I train first responders and military. Thank you all for your service!
Wow, this looks intense. In the Marines we did PT with a gas mask on sometimes. I remember running through extreme hot conditions with a gask mask. That SUCKED. I want to be a fire fighter
Yeah man PT in full MOPP sucked ass. Its pretty relative to PT in full turnout (firefighting gear) Most smaller towns have a volunteer department, stop by one day and ask about membership. Most will pay for fire school, some will even send you to EMT school as well.
Just a quick correction, Bob Russell set the record in 2001, not 1991. Nice video, good to see FFs getting their props. One episode, you should do the entry exam, the CPAT. Here is an open invitation
At 37 years old at 165 pnds my polar watch was telling me that I was burning about 1400 calories in 90 minutes during my bodyweight circuit training. This summer, my hart rate at rest was at 46 B.P.M. at the age of 46 years old. At my prime at 25 years old, there was no watch to count the calories yet. How would it rank with your recruits?
Cross fit is just about the worst you can do, injury rate is very high, and you'll never be the same after a cross fit injury, herniated discs, acl tears, bad hips, you name it. You can do the same exact lifts, under a controlled environment or super set with other exercises that will not tax your main lift. Good luck in your fitness endeavour's
Their turnouts look a lot lighter. We still have the GX’s from like 2000-2010 era. Very heavy for starters. Our helmets are the traditionals. Considering we have two Engines, two Brushes, one Squad soon to be Medic and two Battalions I think we need a gear upgrade. Traditionals are a nice fit but personally I’d feel a hell of a lot more flexible and safer with a metro or XF1.
Kostas you know what man. I’m a firefighter from Canada!! If you have the drive and passion to fight fire. Then follow it. It’s the best career in the world
Kostas it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. Keep out of trouble and participate in your community as often as possible. For fitness get used to high intensity workouts and use a 60+ weight vest if possible so you can be used to wearing turnout gear. Also learn how to control your breathing when doing these types of training with weight on you, that’s major key

You don't need to train wearing turnout gear or a mask.......it's not going to improve your workout. Try to make your workout job related if possible. Forget about bench pressing and heavy squats and deadlifts, all have their place but the idea is to get fit, not injured. Many things can be done right in the firehouse without weights.....climb the sliding poles with only your hands, do pullups off the tip of the aerial ladder, do bear crawls on the floor, drag and carry sandbags ( can be made from sea bags/duffel bags) You are only limited by your imagination

Awesome Video. Aspiring Firefighter Here thanks for the upload.
You are the best
I just did something very similar to the fireman combat challenge for a recent interview testing date. ALL NEW APPLICANTS NEED TO TRAIN FIR THIS.
All firefighters should have to do this.
P. H
Donny Leonard we do...
Not all of them. Very few.
I’m with you on that brother. I’m gonna try this and see if my crew can do this.

the best was hung over puking in your gas mask. Semper Fi.
@@DonColfax Absolutely correct. I just did that about a month ago at 36 years old, so far this is the best personal growth experience of my life.
i have a question. have you ever trained in similar type of exercises? future firefighter here!!

power and cardio demand would be heavy duty for those guys
For a second I thought the challenge was not breathing on air and only the SCBA mask... lol
That's how I do my gear training. Going on air feels so much better after that.

I want to be a fighter fighter
WD 40? on the force machine??
I'm training myself for the Firefighter Physical Agility Test
dummy drag without handles ??
+tommy hoang Real people don't have handles, Pretty sure they are trying to make it as close to firefighting and rescue as possible.
