Trains and Trams at Zürich Oerlikon

The Oerlikon district in the north of Zurich is best known for the famous, namesake engineering company, which among other items built the iconic Crocodile locomotives in the 1920s.
At the same time, the SBB main line station Zürich Oerlikon is also the second largest train station in Switzerland's largest city. Nationwide, it ranks as the 8th largest. Since 2016 and the completion of a major expansion project, the station features 8 total tracks. Local as well as long distance trains call at Oerlikon, though the three types of doubledeckers from the Zurich S-Bahn are the most common.
This short film shows the full variety of freight and passenger trains running throuhg Oerlikon and was filmed in summer 2020. It also shows the VBZ trams on the other side of the quaint station building, which dates from 1914.

Dieser Kurzfilm aufgenommen im Sommer 2020 zeigt den lebhaften und vielfältigen Bahnbetrieb in Zürich Oerlikon. Als wichtiger Knotenbahnhof mit viel Durchgangsverkehr, halten sowohl Nah- wie auch Fernverkehrszüge in Oerlikon. Seit 2016 ist der Bahnhof auf 8 Gleise ausgebaut. Unweit vom Bahnhof sind die alten Bauten der Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon (MFO) wo auch die legendären elektrischen Lokomotiven und Ausrüstungen entstanden sind im der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts.
