I want 343 to give us the option of customizing meny backgrounds and the music for them. And loading screen customization too, I want my old CE loading screen back.
While that would be cool, all authenticity will be lost and the fan base will be disconnected. The best example I can give is this: "Dude u remember the halo infinite title screen?" "Mine didn't look like that, I customized it on the first day of release back then. Lol I forgot what the default menu screen and default menu music was." "Oh. Ok."

What i liked about the old one is that it looks like there's a massive city throughout the entire underneath of the ring, but in the anniversary version, it just looks like regular sci-fi alien engines.

CE really made me feel good about these rings, and I’m very happy I can finally see this ole model again and see it for the style it was in full HD. Thanks again!
Not gonna lie, that remastered anniversary render of Installation 04 makes it look eerie as all hell. Gives me chills. That, and added with that bright ray of light from above adding to its supposed sacredness....

Halo: Combat Evolved the game that started it all. I can’t express how much doubt I have in 343. Their name goes as follows 3 steps forward 43 steps back. They have potential if they would just listen and take notes from what made Halo work.
I hope we find a way to get the 360 backgrounds from the Mythic Multiplayer disc included with ODST working in MCC. I'd love to get full res uploads of them.
When I watch this and listen to the music I can, just for a moment, recapture that childlike wonder I had playing this game for the first time. Even just playing CTF on blood gulch for the 100th time it felt like a special experience.
You can use Chimera and an uncompressed bitmaps / refined version of this in Gearbox CE at 4k natively (OG graphics obviously). It looks wonderful. I wish MCC did a lot of the improvements the same way Chimera does them.
It just occurred to me the camera purposely avoids showing closeup shots of the ring surface in classic graphics since there's no bump mapping or other depth, so it looks pretty fake. So they kept it to distance shots to hide it and keep the camera pointed at the underside of the ring for most of it. Anniversary fixed this and the ring surface looks much better, now there is varied terrain and a lip on the ring to keep everything from falling off the edge. But the camera still tracks the same so it's hard to see. Thanks for sharing, as a PC gamer I never saw the anniversary enhanced version of this.

yess CE loading screen x100, and I know its redundant with SSD loading times but it's part of the atmosphere and experience, dammit.

It's so beautiful. I can't believe how spoiled 7 year old me was back in 2001 with this cinematic menu.
You know, now that Microsoft added dynamic backgrounds to Series X/S consoles they could very easily make these into the Xbox home menu backgrounds.
