This is by far the best eschatological exposition I have heard on Revelation. I'm so used to it being a go-to guide to those "left behind" and am glad that someone finally explains it in a way that is more of Doxology that actually makes sense and is applicable today . I will admit that I HAD the misinformed viewpoint that Israel is our spiritual "rabbit's foot". Praise God for His wisdom revealed through His servants, and thank you Dr. Baucham for challenging unbiblical dogma.

@joanarc7963 He's very wrong on numerous points and it's scripture ALONE that can be used to prove he's incorrect I love listening to him, but I know he's wrong based on God's sovereignty, scripture and character. It never ceases to amaze me how many Christians believe God when it comes to his promise to never abandon them, no matter how far they've fallen, yet this same God made this promise to Israel, yet somehow, those promises in the eyes of Christians means nothing, to them and then alone is God faithful, not to Israel. Voddie - I've learned so much from you and will continue to listen to your sermons. You're a gifted teacher. However, when it comes to the Book of Revelation, I have to say I'm going to stay with your friend John MacArthur's view. I've been following reformed teaching for several years, and I'm astonished that I've been called by God! It's been the greatest thing that's ever happened to me and I love the Lord so much because of what He's done. Bless you and your ministry - rational folks can disagree on some eschalogical things - but we who get Jesus right are blessed with salvation. One thing is certain, we'll know one day, and how we finally end up in the presence of Jesus won't matter to us, praise God!
He's actually very wrong on many facts, if you let the bible be its own interpreter, you'll realise he's dismissed allegories and symbols the bible use regularly in reference to object, places or things, in favour of ones that suit his own narrative
1 Kings 20:23 God is also God in the valleys of suffering and persecution. This is exactly what the apostles and the early church body experienced and has continued since until the fullness of the gentiles has come in. Praise the Lord for sending us the Comforter.

This was an awesome sermon and I believe the pastor is absolutely right as far as geometric Allegiance. But I believe that the pastor also takes a few liberties. One of which is the explanation of the mark of the beast being placed on the hand or the forehead. That's very specific and we can see that actually happening today. Further what about the 144,000 worldwide of the Jews that will be spared that will be evangelizing the world. I agree that this is a spiritual war but I also recognize, too, the literal. If we read the minor prophets it's very specific about the judgment of the Israel people, it speaks of judgment against Israel then & now. First how they turned their back on God then but also TODAY and that judgement will be upon them. Yet He then proclaims the forgiveness of His people and the judgement & end of of the "Nineveh peoples & the ALLIES Nahmun 1:11 - 15 : vs 12 - "This is what the Lord says: Although they have allies and are numerous, they will be cut off & pass away. Although I have afflicted you, I Judah, I will aflict you no more" . vs 14: the Lord has given a command concerning you, Nineveh (referring to the Assyrians), You will have no descendants to bury your name. I will destroy the carved images and cast out all Idols that are in the temples of your gods and I will prepare your grave for you are vile". Further in vs 15, God promises He will fulfill His vows. "No more will the wicked INVADE you; they will be completely destroyed". Obviously this is referring to a completely physical & spiritual end which hasn't occurred yet! But pastor is correct that we, as Christians, fight a spiritual battle constantly and need to constantly reviewing OUR walk in righteousness! So I believe both concepts are valid. Also in reference to Armegedan: in Hebrew Armegedan is derived from two words: Har & Magdon which speaks of the "Hill of Megiddo" which is in the "Valley of Jezreel or later called Megiddo" is a 200 mile long Valley infamous for many military battle and is the most militarily strategic point in the Middle East. Is Revelations referring to this as the spot for a physical battle called Armageddon? That may be in question yet that's scripture reference here. One thing for sure is that a great battle WILL take place with the physical description of being so extreme that the "blood of Christ's enemies (the Assyrians & it's allies) will be up to the main of a horse" which is ruffly 6' deep. That's quite unimportant physical image.
I'm not understanding how he is interpreting this. Is he saying the mark of the beast and you cannot buy or sell if you dont have the mark has already happened? That the antchrist and the false prophet have already been thrown in the lake of fire. Help me understand because I know I won't be able to reach voddie to ask him. I do like his messages that I've heard. The eschatology has always been confusing to me because there are so many Christians that have different opinions on it. And everyone believes they are right. So what do you think guys about the idealist approach to Revelation? Revelation 1 uses the word "esemanen" which means to signify but do you agree that everything should be taken allegorically? How about the parts the sound really literal? Because those plagues that the angels poured sound very....literal.
You need to be careful with Revelation and take it into it's context. The entire book is highly symbolic. Just about everything written in Revelation has an allegorical or metaphorical meaning. It's a wonderful book. But you need to be careful applying certain passages to our time.
I’ve lived my whole life up till now surrounded by people who can’t get enough of the end times doom and gloom attitude. And I’ve wonder for years why these people are so hungry for this kind of stuff, I don’t think it’s because they are hopefully anticipating the victory of Jesus, it’s something else…it’s almost as if they love fear and love making everyone else afraid. But is fear really a good tactic for witnessing to non believers? For some maybe… but I think more people are hungry for hope.
That has no correlation with each other. Christians in an oppressive country can love thy neighbors more deeply than more members in the "freest country to ever exist" loving thy neighbor isnt limited to whatever country you're in.
Although I agree with a lot of his messages for the most part I disagree with this message. Can Revelations be figurative but it can also have a literal meaning. He made the accusation that people that believe Revelations literally believed that the United States will be standing with Israel in the battle of Armageddon for the most part the people I listen to they don't see the United States in that light. There was at least one other area where he painted with a broad brush that I believe goes against what some people that believe Revelations literally believe.

I love Voddie but I don't always agree . Why be confused? The scriptures especially the Old Testament accounts of the nation of Israel is clear about how we as Christians should respond. We see how God used the nations to admonish/judge Israel, but he also judged those same nations. We as Christians do not replace Israel. See Romans 11. Does that mean everyone who is a Jew has salvation, of course not, no more than Gentiles. But God clearly is not finished with the Israel in the flesh so at some point all Israel will be saved (remnant) . Paul was clearly talking about natural Israel. Now I believe that Revelations reveals in part how they will be saved. Revelation to me is a combination of literal and symbolic occurrences. We also see how this same way of prophecy was used in the Old Testament. So do I support them? Yes I support that they are STILL God's People in the Flesh . Roman's 11:1-2 Isaiah 45:17the But what does that mean. I support the truth of God's Word and his promise for the land that he gave them. That is where I lend my support as a nation !! People also misunderstand and quote Romans 9 to debunk Roman's 11 but as a letter does it not come BEFORE Romans 11. So thus it should be read in that order. Romans 11 is the confirmation of such. I think Voddie is not understanding what is meant when people say they support Israel. Maybe some but not all. As Paul said as God cast away "his people"............ God has not cast away his people which he foreknew!!!!!
I've found that studying Jewish writings and history such as the book of Revelation, from actual Messianic Jews who have studied their own writings and history is a much better way to have the book interpreted.
Godly wisdom would consider to discern the difference between the nation of Israel and the person Israel. The nation is geopolitical, and the person is those of faith that can not be contained by geopolitical borders.
Absolutely is a big word when it comes to Revelation. I believe this is between you and the Holy Spirit. I don’t know the truth of what John saw. I only know that my Savior Jesus Christ has redeemed my soul that I’ll live forever with Him. This is a non-dogmatic part of the scripture. Maybe we are not to know until it happens then it will all come together for us. BUT I have been blessed by Voddie though I disagree it question some of his dogma. I’ll save my trust in Jesus, thank you very much. Jesus is the only TRUTH.
If our people who are destroyed for lack of knowledge would study history it would help. In The Great War, a war unlike any had ever seen on earth before, a devout Christian General, leading CHRISTENDOM, fought the Battle of Armageddon(it was in all the papers) against the Islamic Caliphate (carrying the spiritual authority of Rome as decreed by the Eastern Orthodox Church when the conquered constantinople), and won. Thanks Voodie. I have to say; I enjoy this discussion more than anything else right now for obvious reasons. Is this your favorite topic to express? We are all Jews inwardly with a circumsized heart and that's the point. The bible does say that he will bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him. I would need to look up exactly what that means in relation to believers in Christ being those people. The original Jews are the Gods chosen people and given his oracles is what I perceive but honestly havent looked too far into that. I know we are all Jews inwardly and no less important. I self studied war and its ridiculous that 200 million would fight in that valley. Its very difficult to imagine how an army of that magnitude would be supplied but maybe they have pillaging in mind or who knows how long in advance this was planned. I did have the viewpoint of standing with Israel like you said and I understand that they are just as sinful as the West is. I believe what your saying is that its a spiritual battle and our job is to be believers in Christ and to live like Christlike instead of focusing on where everything is going to take place and how. I do believe it's still important to protect that land because its the apple of Gods eye. Now, I'm wondering who bless those and curse those means whether its the first Jews or Christians with them. @@houseonthehill8485 Romans 11 answers this.. You misread the scripture for reference Exo 12:38 but in most cases of mixed multitude it is an addition. Like if I said... John came out of the store AND some little kids came out of the store with him. The little kids are not John just some kids who likely came with John and left with John. its the same as for the Nation of Israel. But we can see that God treats the strangers who obeyed worshipped him along with Israel in the same way during the exodus. Now we know that it was always God's intention (the mystery) that all men be saved, Israel and the Nations. So we are partakers of the covenant. I'm not sure about the covenant people in the sense you may mean it but we as Gentiles were (grafted in) thus partakers of the covenant. Abraham was the Father of many nations but that is another story. lol Jews in the flesh are a specific people group as outlined in the bible. Descendants of Abraham through Jacob (Israel) but Jews in the Spirit are all believers in Jesus Christ of which are the children of God.
@@BAHDK Romans 3 and 11 answers that also. First I think when we hear the word special we think of better than. Rather look at Deut 7:6... They are like a treasure, a private property or set apart. Roman 3 tells us that we are equally in sin. They are included in the all has sinned, Jew and Gentile. They were called according to God's purposes and plans Roman's which of course was to be a beacon to the nations and given the oracles. But not only that. Romans 11:26-29 says that they are enemies due to the rejection of the gospel BUT they are loved because he chose their ancestors . (Isaiah 41:8,9 He said that his gifts and call can never be withdrawn. We will see how this will take place after the age of the Gentiles are complete. This is why I believe parts of Revelation is the fullfillment of Romans 11:26-27. Isaiah 11:11-16, Isaiah 54:6-10, Jeremiah 3: 17-23. I could go on. So we must remember according to scripture that God is not finished with the Nation of Israel (Natural) As Gentiles we should continue to Pray for their Salvation but ultimately God will fullfill his promises so that All will receive his mercy to his Glory.

He won’t have to go naked and let others see his shame.” 2Pe 3:10 ISV But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief. On that day the heavens will disappear with a roaring sound, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done on it will be exposed. The elements destroyed by fire is the Torah the Mosaic covenant wich happened in AD70 Mat 5:18 ISV because I tell all of you with certainty that until heaven and earth disappear, not one letter or one stroke of a letter will disappear from the Law until everything has been accomplished. I love listening to brother Voddie on a lot of topics, except eschatology. He totally misrepresented what we believe about Israel, by no means do we say that everything Israel does is right. We also don’t believe that salvation is based on what we believe about Israel. Brother Voddie is very intelligent, therefore I’m surprised that he would misrepresent most of us who believe that Israel has been given the Land of Israel in an everlasting covenant. We also believe that through much suffering during the tribulation, Israel will be cleansed and will believe in Jesus, as the Messiah. All of Israel will be saved, specifically 1/3 remaining. Go back and read the covenant made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Salvation only through Jesus and no one else.

Voddie says you can't take a puzzle book approach to revelation, then proceeds to flip the puzzle over and draw his own picture on the back. I don't know how anyone could listen to this and think it's accurate. Usually when people have to redefine terms and meanings there is an agenda going on. But you are right, they are not Israel, because the promise fallowed Jesus Christ, a spiritual seed. We are the people of Israel, the church is Jerusalem, and the temple is Christ. It was an everlasting covenant, not of a land of dirt.
Thank you Voddie for shaking up all that literal nonsense in these verses - a literal battle of Armageddon on the ground, etc. - and getting us back focused on the most important matters of all - the spiritual ones! But when dealing with the nation of Israel you should beware of throwing the baby out with the bath water: there is a clear thread running through scripture that says the Jewish nation is special to God, by God’s sovereign will they are his chosen people, and whatever Godless state they are in right now, he has plans for them in the future to reconcile them to his Son, our Lord Jesus (they shall look upon the one they have pierced). So I agree that does not mean blind indulgence with everything they do, and that political alliance is no guarantee of spiritual safety, but remember that historically any nation that persecuted the Jews never ended up doing so well…
What makes one a Jew? Allegiance to God? DNA? Just claiming you are one? 1. Allegiance to God, modern Israel fails this one spectacularly 2. DNA, modern Israel also fails this one. Sephardim have no more ancient Israelite and Canaanite DNA than modern Greeks. Ashkenazim don't even make it on most charts. I have much respect for Voddie but when he took on the post rapture view, and in one sermon said the devil really doesn't have any interest in christians because he had better things to do, i had to say "hold up wait a minute!" Scripture wouldn't tell us to put on the whole armour of God for no good reason. Scripture wouldn't tell us to resist the devil and he will flee, for no good reason. And i could go on. As far as post trib, how does that work? Jesus is going to snatch us up then bring us right back down to go to war with the anti-christ and his kingdom? No Voddie is wrong on both accounts. And we don't need any degrees from various seminaries to know this. Remember the Scripture says in all thy getting, get understanding. Just study the Bible, and get a concordance with the Hebrew and Greek translation. And remember the ancient latin septugiant and Volgate, the newer. If Voddie said those things out of context on simple things that a 5yr old can understand, I can't trust his interpretation of the most difficult book in the Bible.

Simple. In the book of Acts (Acts 1:9-11) when the apostles watched Jesus ascend into heaven, we know that He ascended LITERALLY into heaven (into a literal cloud). It is clear that it wasn't figurative because (1) the account is HISTORICAL (Acts 1:1) not PROPHETIC, (2) the apostles literally raised their eyes and looked up and (3) two men in white apparel (angels) asked them "Why do you stand gazing up into heaven?" (Acts 2:10-11) and then told them that "This same Jesus who was taken up from you into heaven will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.") And this LITERAL, physical coming is what all Christians await... There is a huge difference between "HISTORICAL" events and "PROPHETIC language" and the book of Revelation is a PROPHETIC literature. Prophets do not use literal language but rather metaphoric language of signs and symbols to express deeper truths (Hos.12:10)(Rev.1:1)(1Pet.1:11-12). Take for instance Isaiah 55 where it says (Isa.55:12... The mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.) Obviously mountains/hills don't sing and trees don't literally clap their hands (nor do they have hands) but it's a prophetic way of describing all creation worshipping God... Or in Ezekiel 32 when God used Babylon to destroy Egypt and it says (Ezekiel 32:6; "I will also water the land with the flow of your blood even to the mountains; and the riverbed will be full of you.") We know that never was there literally blood all the way up to the mountains and rivers were never made of human bodies when Babylon destroyed Egypt but it's a prophetic way of describing mass bloodshed... When we come across prophetic language we must not make the same mistake as John Darby, C.I.Scofield and their followers who take every word literally (despite the fact that Bible tells us that God, through His prophets, used symbols to describe deeper truths (Hos.12:10) and is the same reason why Jesus spoke in parables (Mat.13:10-16) so that only His elect, who truly care for His truth can understand Him). Most people fall into the ditch on either side: Dispensational-Futurism or Preterism because they follow men instead of studying diligently and rightly dividing the word of truth (2Tim.2:15)(2Pet.3:16)(Titus 1:10-14)...

I agree!!! Revelation should be approached with much prayer and wisdom. I believe that even in the allegorical language , it is explaining a very physical occurrence at times. Sorta like when the dream that Daniel interepted. We know that there were never any Huge man made with different metals but it's clear that there were physical nations that it represented along with how they came about. I see Revelation in the same way. Some are symbolic and some are literal, although I don't discount that even the allegory could represent a physical occurrence. Voodie is really reaching with many of his accusations of bible teachers and belivers on Israel. First of all the bible does not tell us to "ALIGN" ourselves with Israel. It does tell us that God choose a ethnic people to establish His special conevnant with. Much like Adam that people would mimic the character and behavoirs of its descendants. I think Voddie is a theonomist, He believes that we will eventually take over and things will get better and better until Christ's kingdom is set up on earth and that we're currently in the thousand year reign. I'm so used to it being a go-to guide to those "left behind" and am glad that someone finally explains it in a way that is more of Doxology that actually makes sense and is applicable today . This was an awesome sermon and I believe the pastor is absolutely right as far as geometric Allegiance. But I believe that the pastor also takes a few liberties. One of which is the explanation of the mark of the beast being placed on the hand or the forehead. That's very specific and we can see that actually happening today. Further what about the 144,000 worldwide of the Jews that will be spared that will be evangelizing the world. I agree that this is a spiritual war but I also recognize, too, the literal. If we read the minor prophets it's very specific about the judgment of the Israel people, it speaks of judgment against Israel then & now. First how they turned their back on God then but also TODAY and that judgement will be upon them. Yet He then proclaims the forgiveness of His people and the judgement & end of of the "Nineveh peoples & the ALLIES Nahmun 1:11 - 15 : vs 12 - "This is what the Lord says: Although they have allies and are numerous, they will be cut off & pass away. Although I have afflicted you, I Judah, I will aflict you no more" . vs 14: the Lord has given a command concerning you, Nineveh (referring to the Assyrians), You will have no descendants to bury your name. I will destroy the carved images and cast out all Idols that are in the temples of your gods and I will prepare your grave for you are vile". Further in vs 15, God promises He will fulfill His vows. "No more will the wicked INVADE you; they will be completely destroyed". Obviously this is referring to a completely physical & spiritual end which hasn't occurred yet! But pastor is correct that we, as Christians, fight a spiritual battle constantly and need to constantly reviewing OUR walk in righteousness! So I believe both concepts are valid.
Also in reference to Armegedan: in Hebrew Armegedan is derived from two words: Har & Magdon which speaks of the "Hill of Megiddo" which is in the "Valley of Jezreel or later called Megiddo" is a 200 mile long Valley infamous for many military battle and is the most militarily strategic point in the Middle East. Is Revelations referring to this as the spot for a physical battle called Armageddon? That may be in question yet that's scripture reference here. One thing for sure is that a great battle WILL take place with the physical description of being so extreme that the "blood of Christ's enemies (the Assyrians & it's allies) will be up to the main of a horse" which is ruffly 6' deep. That's quite unimportant physical image.
I'm not understanding how he is interpreting this. Is he saying the mark of the beast and you cannot buy or sell if you dont have the mark has already happened? That the antchrist and the false prophet have already been thrown in the lake of fire. Help me understand because I know I won't be able to reach voddie to ask him. I do like his messages that I've heard. The eschatology has always been confusing to me because there are so many Christians that have different opinions on it. And everyone believes they are right. What are your thoughts?
So what do you think guys about the idealist approach to Revelation? Revelation 1 uses the word "esemanen" which means to signify but do you agree that everything should be taken allegorically? How about the parts the sound really literal? Because those plagues that the angels poured sound very....literal.
You need to be careful with Revelation and take it into it's context. The entire book is highly symbolic. Just about everything written in Revelation has an allegorical or metaphorical meaning. It's a wonderful book. But you need to be careful applying certain passages to our time.
Most of Revelation is literal. People just have a hard time understanding that the spiritual realm is literally real too.
I’ve lived my whole life up till now surrounded by people who can’t get enough of the end times doom and gloom attitude. And I’ve wonder for years why these people are so hungry for this kind of stuff, I don’t think it’s because they are hopefully anticipating the victory of Jesus, it’s something else…it’s almost as if they love fear and love making everyone else afraid.
But is fear really a good tactic for witnessing to non believers? For some maybe… but I think more people are hungry for hope.

Although I agree with a lot of his messages for the most part I disagree with this message. Can Revelations be figurative but it can also have a literal meaning. He made the accusation that people that believe Revelations literally believed that the United States will be standing with Israel in the battle of Armageddon for the most part the people I listen to they don't see the United States in that light. There was at least one other area where he painted with a broad brush that I believe goes against what some people that believe Revelations literally believe.

I love Voddie but I don't always agree . Why be confused? The scriptures especially the Old Testament accounts of the nation of Israel is clear about how we as Christians should respond. We see how God used the nations to admonish/judge Israel, but he also judged those same nations. We as Christians do not replace Israel. See Romans 11. Does that mean everyone who is a Jew has salvation, of course not, no more than Gentiles. But God clearly is not finished with the Israel in the flesh so at some point all Israel will be saved (remnant) . Paul was clearly talking about natural Israel. Now I believe that Revelations reveals in part how they will be saved. Revelation to me is a combination of literal and symbolic occurrences. We also see how this same way of prophecy was used in the Old Testament. So do I support them? Yes I support that they are STILL God's People in the Flesh . Roman's 11:1-2 Isaiah 45:17the But what does that mean. I support the truth of God's Word and his promise for the land that he gave them. That is where I lend my support as a nation !! People also misunderstand and quote Romans 9 to debunk Roman's 11 but as a letter does it not come BEFORE Romans 11. So thus it should be read in that order. Romans 11 is the confirmation of such. I've found that studying Jewish writings and history such as the book of Revelation, from actual Messianic Jews who have studied their own writings and history is a much better way to have the book interpreted.
Godly wisdom would consider to discern the difference between the nation of Israel and the person Israel. The nation is geopolitical, and the person is those of faith that can not be contained by geopolitical borders.
Absolutely is a big word when it comes to Revelation. I believe this is between you and the Holy Spirit. I don’t know the truth of what John saw. Thanks Voodie. I have to say; I enjoy this discussion more than anything else right now for obvious reasons. Is this your favorite topic to express? We are all Jews inwardly with a circumsized heart and that's the point. The bible does say that he will bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him. I would need to look up exactly what that means in relation to believers in Christ being those people. The original Jews are the Gods chosen people and given his oracles is what I perceive but honestly havent looked too far into that. I know we are all Jews inwardly and no less important. I self studied war and its ridiculous that 200 million would fight in that valley. John came out of the store AND some little kids came out of the store with him. The little kids are not John just some kids who likely came with John and left with John. its the same as for the Nation of Israel. But we can see that God treats the strangers who obeyed worshipped him along with Israel in the same way during the exodus. Now we know that it was always God's intention (the mystery) that all men be saved, Israel and the Nations. So we are partakers of the covenant. I'm not sure about the covenant people in the sense you may mean it but we as Gentiles were (grafted in) thus partakers of the covenant. @@BAHDK Romans 3 and 11 answers that also. First I think when we hear the word special we think of better than. Rather look at Deut 7:6... They are like a treasure, a private property or set apart. Roman 3 tells us that we are equally in sin. They are included in the all has sinned, Jew and Gentile. They were called according to God's purposes and plans Roman's which of course was to be a beacon to the nations and given the oracles. But not only that. Romans 11:26-29 says that they are enemies due to the rejection of the gospel BUT they are loved because he chose their ancestors . (Isaiah 41:8,9 He said that his gifts and call can never be withdrawn. We will see how this will take place after the age of the Gentiles are complete. This is why I believe parts of Revelation is the fullfillment of Romans 11:26-27. Isaiah 11:11-16, Isaiah 54:6-10, Jeremiah 3: 17-23. I could go on. So we must remember according to scripture that God is not finished with the Nation of Israel (Natural) As Gentiles we should continue to Pray for their Salvation but ultimately God will fullfill his promises so that All will receive his mercy to his Glory.

I love listening to brother Voddie on a lot of topics, except eschatology. He totally misrepresented what we believe about Israel, by no means do we say that everything Israel does is right. We also don’t believe that salvation is based on what we believe about Israel. Brother Voddie is very intelligent, therefore I’m surprised that he would misrepresent most of us who believe that Israel has been given the Land of Israel in an everlasting covenant. We also believe that through much suffering during the tribulation, Israel will be cleansed and will believe in Jesus, as the Messiah. All of Israel will be saved, specifically 1/3 remaining. Go back and read the covenant made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Salvation only through Jesus and no one else.

I have much respect for Voddie but when he took on the post rapture view, and in one sermon said the devil really doesn't have any interest in christians because he had better things to do, i had to say "hold up wait a minute!" Scripture wouldn't tell us to put on the whole armour of God for no good reason. Scripture wouldn't tell us to resist the devil and he will flee, for no good reason. And i could go on. As far as post trib, how does that work? Jesus is going to snatch us up then bring us right back down to go to war with the anti-christ and his kingdom? No Voddie is wrong on both accounts. How do you explain the return of Christ then if you’re taking Revelation so figuratively?
Simple. In the book of Acts (Acts 1:9-11) when the apostles watched Jesus ascend into heaven, we know that He ascended LITERALLY into heaven (into a literal cloud). It is clear that it wasn't figurative because (1) the account is HISTORICAL (Acts 1:1) not PROPHETIC, (2) the apostles literally raised their eyes and looked up and (3) two men in white apparel (angels) asked them "Why do you stand gazing up into heaven?" (Acts 2:10-11) and then told them that "This same Jesus who was taken up from you into heaven will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.") And this LITERAL, physical coming is what all Christians await... There is a huge difference between "HISTORICAL" events and "PROPHETIC language" and the book of Revelation is a PROPHETIC literature. Prophets do not use literal language but rather metaphoric language of signs and symbols to express deeper truths (Hos.12:10)(Rev.1:1)(1Pet.1:11-12). Take for instance Isaiah 55 where it says (Isa.55:12... The mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.) Obviously mountains/hills don't sing and trees don't literally clap their hands (nor do they have hands) but it's a prophetic way of describing all creation worshipping God... Or in Ezekiel 32 when God used Babylon to destroy Egypt and it says (Ezekiel 32:6; "I will also water the land with the flow of your blood even to the mountains; and the riverbed will be full of you.") We know that never was there literally blood all the way up to the mountains and rivers were never made of human bodies when Babylon destroyed Egypt but it's a prophetic way of describing mass bloodshed... When we come across prophetic language we must not make the same mistake as John Darby, C.I.Scofield and their followers who take every word literally (despite the fact that Bible tells us that God, through His prophets, used symbols to describe deeper truths (Hos.12:10) and is the same reason why Jesus spoke in parables (Mat.13:10-16) so that only His elect, who truly care for His truth can understand Him). Most people fall into the ditch on either side: Dispensational-Futurism or Preterism because they follow men instead of studying diligently and rightly dividing the word of truth (2Tim.2:15)(2Pet.3:16)(Titus 1:10-14)...

I agree!!! Revelation should be approached with much prayer and wisdom. I believe that even in the allegorical language , it is explaining a very physical occurrence at times. Sorta like when the dream that Daniel interepted. We know that there were never any Huge man made with different metals but it's clear that there were physical nations that it represented along with how they came about. I see Revelation in the same way. Some are symbolic and some are literal, although I don't discount that even the allegory could represent a physical occurrence. I will say that some parts of Voodie's revelation series helped enlighten me such as seeing the capitulation in Revelation which I had not seen before. But I don't think I have agreed fully with anyone concerning Revelation. lol
