    Genesis 19:1-11
    Voddie Baucham Sermon
Genesis 19:1-11 is a clear statement on the sin of sodomy. Unfortunately, there are many in the “Christian” community who have come to doubt, or even refute this fact. The homo-sexual movement has succeeded at clouding the issue through creative exegesis, ad hominem attacks, and genetic fallacies. Nevertheless, the Bible is clear.

In God's providential timing, we reached this passage the day before the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Genesis 19:1-11:
The two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them and bowed himself with his face to the earth 2 and said, “My lords, please turn aside to your servant’s house and spend the night and wash your feet. Then you may rise up early and go on your way.” They said, “No; we will spend the night in the town square.” 3 But he pressed them strongly; so they turned aside to him and entered his house. And he made them a feast and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.
4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house. 5 And they called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them.” 6 Lot went out to the men at the entrance, shut the door after him, 7 and said, “I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly. 8 Behold, I have two daughters who have not known any man. Let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please. Only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof.” 9 But they said, “Stand back!” And they said, “This fellow came to sojourn, and he has become the judge! Now we will deal worse with you than with them.” Then they pressed hard against the man Lot, and drew near to break the door down. 10 But the men reached out their hands and brought Lot into the house with them and shut the door. 11 And they struck with blindness the men who were at the entrance of the house, both small and great, so that they wore themselves out groping for the door.

2 Peter 2:5 says that "Noah was a preacher of righteousness" it didn't do the whole world any good, and every single one of them perished in God's wrath.
Have you ever heard the term 'the same sun that melts the wax, hardens the clay' ???
The world will never be a better place by godly men faithfully preaching God's word.
God's people, however, will be led to love their Saviour more and obey Him more, while the perishing world goes from bad to worse.
That is the way it has always been.

@Mr right It's a biblical reality, that this world will never be a great place for followers of Christ Jesus. As the word says, all who desire to live a godly in Christ will be persecuted.
Pursue the Lord with all our hearts minds and strength!!! This is our all in life, and what a great pursuit this is, knowing that it is the Spirit of God within us causing us to strive.

So refreshing to hear a pastor dish out the REAL doctrine on homosexuality. I’m so exhausted of churches that have caved to the culture and either avoid the topic entirely, or, worse, now affirm homosexuality for the sake of social justice “inclusivity.” It’s sickening. Thank your for preaching the gospel of what we all know is true before society was gaslit into accepting and celebrating this. We are a nation under the Lord’s judgement.

      Part 1/2
Except it's not the truth but based on a lie or terrible errors depending on the motives of the speaker. Connecting homosexuality to Genesis 19 is like connecting Trump to Russia. It's sad to see the butchering of Scripture for an ideology.
First, Jewish writing and multiple areas of Scripture Genesis 6, 18, Job 1, 38, 2 Peter 2, Luke 17, and Revelation 12, tells us what Genesis 19 is about. And it has nothing to do with homosexuality.
Is homosexuality a sin? Yes. If we were all gay humanity would cease to exist which is contrary to God's design.
However, to attach God's judgment on Sodom to homosexuality contradicts the rest of Scripture.
For example Leviticus 18:1-4 God says
Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God. 3 According to [a]the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their ordinances. 4 You shall observe My judgments and keep My ordinances, to walk in them: I am the Lord your God. 5 You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them: I am the Lord."
Moses lived in 1500 BC, and Sodom was destroyed about 2400 BC. God acknowledges that up until that moment the Israelites, Egyptians and Canaanites all practiced this list including homosexuality. If homosexuality causes God's judgment then why did God allow the practice and others to go on for 900 years after Sodom? Also, God never mentions the punishment of Sodom in Leviticus 18. You'd think the passage would have some mention of the connection to Sodom if our understanding was correct. Why did God not destroy Egypt? Why did God not go to Egypt and Canaan and say stop your homosexual practices or I will destroy you?
We know in the Bible via Jesus and Peter that the Flood and Sodom are linked
      Luke 17
26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30, Even so, will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed."
      2 Peter 2
4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to [b]hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; 6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; 7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked 8 (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)
So the simple question is what were the angels' sin during the flood and Sodom that sent them to Hell in advance of everyone else?
I don't know why some Christians ignore some basic biblical facts when trying to understand this topic.
Job 1 tells us that Satan went to and fro from Heaven to earth.
6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and [e]Satan also came among them. 7 And the Lord said to [f]Satan, “From where do you come?” So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”
Here the term "sons of God" is used.
      Job 38:4
“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. 5 Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the [b]line upon it? 6 To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, 7 When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Luke 3: 38 the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.
Christians Galatians 3:24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Genesis 6:1-4
Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. 3 And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive[a] with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” 4 There were [b]giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
Son of God= a being created directly by God, not offspring. Angels, Satan, Adam, Jesus, Christians (born again made into a new creation)
But what blows my mind is that Christians ignore the book of Jude to understand this topic.
Jude 1:6 And the angels who did not keep their [c]proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; 7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the [d]vengeance of eternal fire. 8 Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries. 9 Yet Michael the archangel, in [f]contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves. 11 Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.
14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, 15 to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”
Enoch 1 which is not fiction as many claims since here is chapter 1 of Enoch 1
“9 And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of His holy ones To execute judgment upon all, And to destroy all the ungodly: And to convict all flesh Of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”
Then in Enoch 1 chapter 6 it quotes Genesis 6
      Enoch 1 chapter 6:1
“1 And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto them beautiful and comely daughters. 2 And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: ‘Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men and beget us children.”
Then the story continues in Enoch 1:6:3
“3 And Semjâzâ, who was their leader, said unto them: ‘I fear ye will not indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin.’ 4 And they all answered him and said: ‘Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual imprecations not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.’ 5mThen sware they all together and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. 6 And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. 7And these are the names of their leaders: Sêmîazâz, their leader, Arâkîba, Râmêêl, Kôkabîêl, Tâmîêl, Râmîêl, Dânêl, Êzêqêêl, Barâqîjâl, Asâêl, Armârôs, Batârêl, Anânêl, Zaqîêl, Samsâpêêl, Satarêl, Tûrêl, Jômjâêl, Sariêl. 8 These are their chiefs of tens.”

      Part 2/2
"chiefs or kings of ten"?? We read in Revelation 12 that Satan and his angels are cast out of heaven to earth.
7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, (P)who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him....12b Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”
Rev 13, the Beast with 10 horns rises
Rev 17: understanding of the ten horns.
12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. 14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”
      Rev 18
2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!
The reason we don't understand Genesis 19 is that we're ignorant of the fact that God and angels (Genesis 18) came and interacted with humanity, and that Satan and his angels did as well. And at some point they will again when they're banished from Heaven.
      Revelation 13:4-5
4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” 5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months."
People at some point will worship this person called the beast knowing Satan has given power to him.
Honestly, the irony is that it's not the homosexuals that have brought God's judgment on America but the Church just like Israel did for its idolatry.
Christians in America worship the god of America not the God of Israel. America never appears in Scripture and yet so many believe an Americanized version of the Bible. As a non-American I can't believe the blindness of Christians today.
America is dead even the vulgar Chris Rock says America is more divided than ever and Jesus said in Mark 3:24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
The US dollar is dying, banks are collapsing, the country is broke, both parties are completely corrupt, the media is corrupt, and government agencies are corrupt. With all the support the US has sent Ukraine it has no ammo.
      www.cnn.com/2023/02/17/politics/us-weapons-factories-ukraine-ammunition/index.html
-NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday that the “current rate of Ukraine’s ammunition expenditure is many times higher than our current rate of production,” which is putting “our defense industries under strain.”
A recent report authored by Seth Jones, the director of the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ International Security Program, warns that America’s assistance to Ukraine has “depleted US stocks of some types of weapon systems and munitions, such as Stinger surface-to-air missiles, 155mm howitzers and ammunition, and Javelin anti-tank missile systems.” Jones also told CNN that CSIS war games showed in a Pacific conflict, the US runs out of “key long range munitions,” like long-range anti-ship missiles, in “less than a week of the war.”
Honestly, it's just sad to me how the Church in America seems completely unaware its nation is dead and why, and then gets so much wrong doctrinally. Some days I just don't know what Bible or what Jesus they're talking about.

The following might help some Christians reform their views on the Bible and homosexuality. It's longer than most YT posts and was originally written to address reparative therapy for homosexuals, and the CONTEXT of the Bible's scriptures on homosexuality. It's important to understand the "HISTORICAL Jesus" and the "God of FAITH" are distinctions with a difference. Many folks read the Bible in a literal manner (as written/have FAITH in the words before one's eyes). And who am I to tell individuals what they should believe? There's another narrative, in my experience, which is more compelling and trumps literalism, the HISTORICAL record. You decide.
Since forever and a day I've seen folks like these on various media. They're a small subset of LGBQT people and have a right to their opinions. Most are typically what they have always been but learn to temporarily suppress same sex attraction. And some heterosexual females were often traumatized sexually, physically and/or verbally by males and chose to be with women as a reaction. Furthermore, the overwhelming majority of LGBQT folks aren't free to express their sexuality during their middle- and H.S. years (and often beyond), causing a long psycho-social developmental delay, one that isn't usually addressed until after H.S. or during college when many find like-minded individuals with whom to socialize. To make up for lost time many engage in promiscuity, excessive partying, bar and club hopping, drinking, drugging, going out most days of the week, and other hedonistic behaviors, which are anathema to their well-being, and catches up to them eventually, causing heartache and regret. While individual behavior determines hedonism, as opposed to sexuality, a trifecta of society, family and religion are influential in the suppression, discrimination, verbal abuse, physical attacks and murder the LGBQT community experiences, why many LGBQT folks are "hidden figures," tethered to their closets, engage the opposite sex in marriage and having children, are on the "down-low" (DL), or "out," and expend energy engaging in reckless behavior. Individuals whose nature is heterosexual, but internalized homosexuality for childhood and adolescent sexual abuse by their sex (m/f), can usually recover their true sexual identity with the assistance of competent mental health professionals. The best Christian religionists have demonstrated is an ability to get individuals to suppress homosexual ideation and behavior. Research also demonstrates one can't "pray the gay away" (so to state). Moreover, their motivations are centered in a misreading of the Bible, as ministers, theologians, lay-people and others have distorted the anti-homosexuality context of its "men sleeping with men," and related, scriptures. Christians (and others) need to do serious work, due diligence, to discern it. To learn it keep in mind that (1) "an ax murder isn't about the ax" and (2) there's a "distinction with a difference" between "homosexuality and homosexual," and, "heterosexuality and heterosexual," each one -- it's why homosexuals often have children the old-fashioned way (heterosexuality), and incarcerated heterosexuals often have sexual relations with their sex (homosexuality), for example. With context we'd learn: Why heterosexual men are their focus; why women play a tangential role; why Ancient Greek custom, and Ancient Roman law, condoned it under certain conditions; why the biblical references to "man's inhospitality to man" includes heterosexual males illicitly "knowing" men and women ("carnal knowledge"/rape); why the prophets were concerned about it; why beginning in the 12th Century the Roman Catholic Church started teaching the "Sodom & Gomorrah" story was (largely) about homosexuals, which is false; why neither the term ABOMINATION, nor anything similar, is in the original Biblical documents, which were written in Classical Biblical Hebrew, Ancient Aramaic and, in its first translation, in Kione Greek. ETC. Understanding those specific scriptures requires knowing something about those languages, the problems of translation, literary devices, the history of sexuality in the Ancient Near East, Ancient Greece and the Ancient Roman World (the areas in which the anthology of biblical stories take place), the biological basis of human sexuality, etc. The consequences of misunderstanding context, truth: (1) There's a mortal wage to be paid for putting words in God's mouth, as it's "biblically profane." (2) Gays have been grossly mistreated in His name, and "Caesar's." Absent context, "telling the truth while telling lies" (my quote) is the result. With due respect. (KFB, Revised 6.17.23)

Might you be unhinged, Rev. Ayala? And wrong.

To learn it keep in mind that (1) "an ax murder isn't about the ax" and (2) there's a "distinction with a difference" between "homosexuality and homosexual," and, "heterosexuality" and "heterosexual," each one -- it's why homosexuals often have children the old-fashioned way (heterosexuality), and incarcerated heterosexuals often have sexual relations with their sex (homosexuality), for example. HERE SOME SCIENTIFIC TRUTH ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY:
+ The WHO,World Health Organization, stated clearly, that homosexuality is not a disease or disorder, but a healthy, natural born sexual orientation.
+ Evolution scientists stated in several publications, that homosexuality exists since sexuality exists, since 385 million years.
+ They also stated, that having homosexual members in the own tribe gives several evolutionary advantages, which explains the permanent share of 4-10% homosexuals of the population.
+ So the question would be rather: why putting an ethical limit on homosexuality, if its natural, healthy and even with a natural sense?

The reason I attended Regent was to get a biblical view of the biblical and cultural issues. Tragically, even within Christian universities the professors are compromised.

We need to be taught the truth and reach maturity. We can no longer in this day and time be like spiritual infants easily deceived, tossed to and fro by cunning and craftiness of wickedness. I stand with you in truth of what God has given us in the word whether I like it or not

It takes real courage and love of what they do to stand with the Biblical truth. I never thought I would live to see what has happened, preachers twisting the word of God to accommodate flourishing sin. GOD HELP US ALL. God Bless you Voddie, and thank you for a wonderful and truthful sermon.

With due respect: The following might help some Christians reform their views on the Bible and homosexuality.
With context we'd learn: Why heterosexual men are their focus; why women play a tangential role; why Ancient Greek custom, and Ancient Roman law, condoned it under certain conditions; why the biblical references to "man's inhospitality to man" includes heterosexual males illicitly "knowing" men and women ("carnal knowledge"/rape); why the prophets were concerned about it; why beginning in the 12th Century the Roman Catholic Church started falsely teaching the "Sodom & Gomorrah" story was (largely) about homosexuals; why neither the term ABOMINATION, nor anything similar, is in the original Biblical documents, which were written in Classical Biblical Hebrew, Ancient Aramaic and, in its first translation, in Kione Greek.

I was looking for the woman's shoes department and I asked where it was. I didn't realize that this person was trans until I came closer to HIM. Sorry, but I experienced the EXACT SAME REACTION as you did. I absolutely COULD NOT look at his face, as his face looked SO UNNATURAL to me. I immediately turned my gaze to the floor. I was so relieved when I walked away from him. I felt bad that I might have hurt his feelings as I was so sure that he could sense my discomfort; but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't look at his face. He truly looked unnatural, he even appear human, he looked like a ROBOT. Trans men are NOT women and they WILL NEVER BE women, NEVER.

    Proverbs 13:24 NKJV
He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly....
This same principle can be applied to pastors and their flocks if they don't want any of their sheep to go to hell..

I saw in another comment that this sermon is from 2009. Fascinating how far Rick Warren has fallen on this issue and issues like it. That shouldn't be surprising to anyone who has paid attention to Rick Warren's teaching and how he has not been grounded in God's word as he should have been. Contrast that to Voddie Baucham, who hasn't changed his tune in decades, and it's clear that the reason for this is that he is grounded in the doctrine of Sola Scriptura.

@Quiana White yeah I've noticed from a number of solid Bible teachers, like RC Sproul or John Macarthur, for example, that you can take a message from 30 years ago and they haven't changed in their commitment to scripture. When you are grounded in God's word you don't need to change to fit a changing world, you just preach what the book says.

Sin is Sin, and I agree with Dr. Bauchman not all sin is the same. Sexual sin is a deeper sin than all other sin. And homosexuality is even worse because it is unnatural. 1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?

This is happening in the Church of England and i believe there will be a split as many members are vehemently against the Archbishop of Canterbury's decision to bless same sex partnerships in church. So good to hear Voddie preaching biblical truths on this important issue

A bit over ten years ago, the independent Baptist Church we attended and a self-proclaimed fundamental pastor refused to preach this subject out of fear of government persecution. Needless to say, it went downhill from there.

@@kevinboone2178 brother you could have saved the unnecessarily long post. You also seem to be a supporter of the homosexual movement. Maybe I am misunderstanding you but TH-cam is not the place where I want to read a 30 minute post. If you are a supporter of the lbgtq that is your right but I do not support that lifestyle. Peace to you.
