    Coroplast, not to be confused with Chloroplast.

    In the UK this can sometimes be called "Correx" which is a trade name and expensive, but Wickes sell "proplex" (which is the same) in 2.4 x 1.2 meter sheets for £4.20 - less than 1/2 the price of Correx. We have a very large (1.75m x 1.05m) cage using this and the only signs of ware so far are from nibbling. Actually they have nibbled absolutely everything except the chews toys.

    • @briantrend1812
      @briantrend1812 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gordon Lawrence thankyou for letting us know about proplex. ive been looking for correx and was shocked at the prices of its board at 4mm on ebay. I left a comment on the prices above. I will go now to find this product. we don't have a wickes store where I live in devon. I'm using the sheets to help prevent damp in my workshop attached to the above garden where the moisture gets through . I think 2mm boards will be impervious to moisture damp etc ive already coated damp proof applications top to bottom including the floor but the moisture builds up on the surface... I'm throwing 2mm under the carpets too even though the carpets have their own rubber base. its just a workshop but you wont go in their in winter without a heater its a freezebox thankyou brian

HAHAHA Pretty sure I've said worse when my batteries die or I'm filming so I'm not looking at where I'm stepping and run in to something heehee.....oh thanks for the laugh Chicky! As a side, this is a great and clear video on how to cut coroplast and make a c&c cage. :) I find people have the most difficulty understanding scoring the correx as opposed to cutting right through but you explained it really well! Can't wait for a tour of the NEW pet room! :D x

    I'm trying to build my first c&c, but I'm curious how I measure my coroplast when the connectors that come with the grids stick out so far? Or do I not use the connectors on the bottom of the grids?

    • @mcsmama
      @mcsmama 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I know this Q is old, but for those still looking for an answer, you DO need to account for & subtract the connector projections that will protrude into the cage, from the Coroplast bottom dimensions. OR, if you use only zip ties on the bottoms edges of the cage, instead of connectors, make sure the part of the zip tie that has a nub, is turned to the outside aspect of the cage.

      All depends on personality matches for guinea pigs. I have one female who is very aggressive with some pigs (wounded them) but then has lived happily now with another female.

      the prices of this correx board here in the UK are for eg, 2mm thick are £11 on ebay /4mm is £24 for a 8ft x4ft sheet. America always has cheaper more generous sizes. it pisses me off the amount of penny pinching and scams that go on in Europe especially the UK. they cut down sizes of sheets/ dilute or reduce liquids in containers and sell them for twice as much etc tools everything is more expensive for the same products compared to the USA . this flute board is way overpriced in UK. have u guys seen the great video of the guy who builds a cycle trailer out of this correx flute board. he uses plastic ties to tie and lace the board together. I want to use this stuff to line my walls completely top to bottom in the basement due to damp in my workshop and even place under the carpet to damp proof as the special paints I used dont prevent moisture after sealing the surfaces.

    What is best for 3 guinea pigs. I want to try and use a c&c cage as the one I have they hate, and one of my pigs already chews the bars. I trust the cage but it is kind of small with everything in it so it would be better for them.

    Hey Skinnypigs1 Ive finally found grids in Aus but i was wondering, do you need a base for c&c cages? I would be using fleece so i wouldn't have to worry about bedding spilling out.

    • @skinnypigs1
      @skinnypigs1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you will need a base, so hay/poops stay inside the cage and so any pee does not leak onto your floor even with liners.

    Hi there, love your videos. I'm expanding my girls cage. In the video you said it was a 2x6 and I keep reading 2x5 in comments. The sheet of coroplast I got is 4'x6'. How big of a C&C cage will that make?

    • @skinnypigs1
      @skinnypigs1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I said 2by5 c&c cage at the start. My sheet was a 5by8ft. Each grid is 14 inches, so you will just have to calculate that out :)

    My boys are brothers. they have a 80 by 120 cm cc cage. they are 6 moths old now and they have started teeth chattering and chasing eachother around the cage. Im not sure what is classified as fighting. they haven't bitten each other yet, I guess they are trying to figure out who is the dominant one. Do you have any tips on how to avoid any accidents or misfortunes? Please help

    So for standard 6 sides you still cut the corners?

      @skinnypigs1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No matter the size, you cut the corners the same and tape it up the same.

      You can usually find it at your local hardware store. If not, try to find some at Home Depot.

    Just a question but do you NEED coroplast in your c & c cage?

  • @em2903

    I'm making a 4x8 or a 4x10
    I'm not sure about making a 4x10 because I am putting in a 4x2 kitchen upstairs
    It's for 3 pigs but I have my eye on a pig for adoption and I'm thinking about going there and introducing my pigs and the other pig, if things go well I'll get him. But my pigs do have 2-3 hours on grass if it's warm outside, so would u recommend 4x8 or 4x10? With 4x2 loft- kitchen area

    • @NataliasPets
      @NataliasPets 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      4x10 ?! That's huge!! Don't think anyone has ever made such a huge cage! Your piggies are gonna be so happy!

    • @em2903
      @em2903 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +NataliasPets haha! Thx but actually +snowflakepiggy made a 4x10 with a 4x2 upper level and I kind of maybe copied her! I saw it and was like AAAHHHMAWGAWD! so I encouraged my dad to get loads of grids and coroplast
      the pigs love it but as I'm in England, it's a little bit harder to buy good quality fleece liners, so I'm stuck using just fleece blankets and towels/puppy pads.
