Why aren't these clubs taking the premier league to court anti competitive rules restrictive business practices. The Premier league has a cabal the rest of the teams are their feeder clubs. Anti competitive behaviour can be fined 10% of worldwide revenue.
The fans should as well, as consumers they are the ones impacted.
Because the clubs themselves voted for it.
Thats the issue, the majority of the clubs want to restrict spending as they know they just can’t compete
@@andrewcharlton6080 They can't ignore 1 million fans however, if they all complained to the cma.
Have the club mismanaged their balance sheet? How much has been wasted on Ashworth on the wage bill for garden leave.
@@johnmurray5573 They probably turned a profit on cashworth, as man u payed a release fee.
I could listen to Kieran all day. He's so good at putting things in a way that I understand easily. I can definitely recommend his Price of Football podcast; i never miss an episode....
A good listen, best of luck to England tomo from a Ni fan 🤞
Thanks! - L
Thanks Liam and Kieran.
Cheers! - L
excellent watch... Bravo...
Cheers! - L
@@GeordieJournos Ne Bother...
Brilliant session Liam, Kieran brilliant as well.
Thanks! - L
Excellent content. There is no question in my mind that most of the transfers end June had inflated values just to solve PSR deficits
Dear all,
Canny video as always👍
Always good to see Kieran Maguire doing his finance thing👍👏🤘
Regards,
Thanks 👍 - L
So glad Kieran explained amortisation. Up until this point I hadn't realised it was calculated as a daily rate. Makes sense how Chelsea could continue to buy before the PSR deadline.
👍
I wouldn't have said Ashley left newcastle in a strong place for psr considering how much he hampered our turnover by doing rubbish deals with certain sponsors etc
@drrocco2525 precisely, 14 years of neglect and accepting surviving the prem year on year meant we went from having a turnover similar to that of Spurs, to floundering around to nearly half
And funnelled money into sports direct
@@drrocco2525 definitely I’m glad we now have owners that help us make money and are not keeping it for themselves
Imagine if the mainstream media learnt or confirmed the above, rather than regurgitating the narrative that he ran a tightly ran ship
Very fair point. One I mentioned in the video. - L
Know this one will be a great watch. Thanks guys
Our pleasure! - L
That was a genuinely informative interview, good work.
an education from Kieran well done.
Excellent episode, very informative on PSR which is a joke to get head around. How much do we expect this summer? The cartels control is ruining football. Villa do great to qualify for champions league and have to sell players. Ratcliife openely saying they should get more vote and bo scrutiny from media
What a brilliant chap who really knows his stuff
Thanks. Kieran was decent, too 😉 - L
A fascinating podcast - very informative! The financial aspect of the Sales and Purchases of recent years certainly are revealing. It really helps understand NUFCs position in relation to the "Big 6" - still there IS hope for the future!
Very good show love maguire talking very good non bias person x
He's excellent! - L
Excellent content Liam, best one yet, great questions and Kieran is excellent, as well as a top bloke. Always speaks in laymans terms for novices like us. His podcast is always a listen
He's quality! - L
Great report thoroughly enjoyed and what a fantastic insight to club finances 👍
Glad you enjoyed it - L
Usually I would watch this on Saturday but well it has been a different ⚽️ wkd! Cheers L😂
Certainly has. Hope you enjoy! - L
Great video as always. Some good questions. I would like to know Kieran's take on the Chelsea Women's side being effectively sold to themselves for 200 million as rumoured and also the situation with Covid payments being counted for Man Utd for PSR deadline just gone. Will The PL investigate any of this?
Great show!
Cheers! Thanks for your support. - L
What’s the intention of FFP/PSR? Is it to level the playing field? (It certainly doesn’t accomplish that.) Or is it to keep clubs from going under? If it’s the latter, the restrictions should be linked to debt rather than income/loss.
Makes no sense. - L
On the commercial front Ashley was awful he didn’t give the chance to raise revenue however under pfi we are able to get great sponsorship deals
Correct. - L
Does anyone know when any revised financial figures will be released? I can only find figures for upto 30/6/24 but i'm not sure these include the late sales or buys.
I'm not sure on this one. - L
Premier League Clubs could go strike and not sign and sell players to make a statement to PL and PSR etc.
How would that work? - L
@@GeordieJournos point blank refuse to do transfers in or out.
Would love to know more about this case the Bosman lawyer is taking to court. What did Kieran mean when he said it might mean the wild west has arrived - I'm hoping it means that transfer fees are excluded from PSR or equivalent calculations, but no doubt the vested interests will find other ways to keep the ladder pulled up behind them.
Also: what happened with Man City's arbitration case? The participants presumably have a feel for how they believe things went - any hints emerging? I am guessing the formal ruling hasn't been issued yet, but do we know when it is due?
Probably end up like American sports where players get tens of millions to sign for clubs, no window, and short contracts to allow players to earn maximum.
I've asked him for clarity. But he's away to the final, so I'm not expecting much response.
Re second bit, hints unlikely as parties are strictly bound by confidentiality. - L
Good interview this. You should think about doing it as a job or something!
Haha, I just might 😅 - L
Mike Ashley used us to make more money for sports direct
Man Utd have just reported losses of £70m for THREE MONTHS which annualised would be a loss of £280m
🤯
This misguided mindset that Mike Ashley done any but strip Newcastle united of its accents to line his own pockets is crazy we are still feeling the devastation of that idiot’s tenure ie shirt sales to sports direct we did have land but he soon sold that off not to mention the players sold for vast profit to himself need I say more
Think that's a whole different video. However, the reference in this one was purely the lack of debt etc. - L
None of you know the truth about PSR. The only ones that know anything are the ones behind the scenes.
Without accounts. That's impossible. But you can have a good idea, as per Kieran's calculations. - L
Liam stated the journalists were shown the accounts by the club at the end of January. Therefore they had a good idea of the deficit.
Sorry but Ashley did not leave us in a strong PSR situation at all. He left us with a useless high wage squad with no sell on value due to years of neglect. Selling off decent academy players like Bobby Clark before they would be key assets under these new rules.
Of the lots of things Ashley did, he definitely didn't leave the squad with a high wage bill. - L
@@GeordieJournos I’m referring to silly Jeff Hendrick, Ryan Fraser wages etc which still stink the place out
@2coinaphrase121 ah ok. Ritchie was another btw.
Totally bias towards top 6 mean endless court cases and challenges
I genuinely believe that it will get to a point very soon where the league will be delayed whilst a court case is being heard.
@@peternealon430 wouldn't surprise me either if clubs can't compete fairly they will try to find loopholes and go to court
End of the decade? I’m almost 70 years old now, I might never see the ‘big 7’ lol.
Keep the faith! - L
Just take the EPL and UEFA to court. Their rules are anti-competitive. Also, make the clubs with huge debts pay them off in short time.
It could be under restoration of trade however it seems that the premier league and UEFA are a law unto themselves
TBH lads unless City win there case it’s going to take years to catch up with the septic 6 unfortunately
Yep. - L
