I remember reading Cinderella is Dead last year and my main critique was that I wished it was two books. I felt like the author did what she needed to do in that book, but I just would've liked to have had more time with it, so I was really excited when I found out her next project was a duology. I finally read This Poison Heart last month and I really enjoyed it, the plant magic, the creepy house, the sapphic ship was all great. I loved it.
I JUST finished this. I enjoyed it also. The Mamas Greene stole my heart. I also felt the gothic vibes. It was such an interesting mix of Poison Ivy, The Secret Garden, mythology, and a smidge of Get Out-esque horror. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t trust anyone in that town especially not a certain someone. I gave it 4.25/5.
I'm glad to hear good things about The Poison Heart. I heard very mixed things about Cinderella is Dead so I was reluctant to read it but I might check out this book instead.

I read this last month and really enjoyed it too! The plot was super predictable, especially when it came to the villain (which you’re totally right about, they come across as this moustache-twirling almost caricature 😂) but every other element was excellent!
