AUSGEBREMST! They way they balanced the cards so that you don't finish the race if you aren't efficient is so impressive. Lots of decisions, tons of interaction. I really appreciate the videos for older favorites because some of them have a real elegance that translates to accessible and engaging play. Thanks Tom.
Agreed! Und nicht nur wegen des Nachnamens;o) While some newer iterations feel freah others seem just convoluted... Returned before buying Heat (Thalia, yikes), to see if my other racing games still hold up or provide enough to keep them. Um Reifenbreite, Ave Caesar, Ricochet Robots and RoboRallly I'll keep for their ingenuity/charme, while Formula D always felt too clunky for what it did. Also Steampunk Rally (combining racing with an engine builder) imo still criminally underrated;o) Cheers and thx Tom!
@@trojan403 hello! I've shelfed alot of my racing ideas and didn't get deep into prototypes. Recently played with the ide of a racing game without a track, you just play for position like get bit. Look up Flippant Games, he has a great idea for racing games a la Mario Kart and Whacky Racers.
@@CMYKolours All good :) Yeah I've been wanting to create a game myself actually (reminiscent of Rock & Roll Racing on the super nintendo) But I think I may have to play a few more racing games first - to get some knowledge on how most of them work (haven't played a lot so far). Get Bit looks interesting, I've never heard of it. I'll look up Flippant Games now, that sounds right up my alley. It's hard finding exactly the kind of racing game that I want... fast, fun, power-ups, accessible and nostalgic all in one :D
So there's a dexterity element when trying to hit the box with the coin? :-) Thanks for a great review. Reminds me a bit about Fast Flowing Forest Fellas by Friese.
Speaking of "older" games, any chance you might be able to review StarCraft: The Board Game sometime? I know you did a text review, and would love to see a video version of it.

Glad you reviewed this older classic. I've been playing with the idea of a racing board game and this helped me to see what's already been done.
Have you come up with any prototypes yet? I know it's been years since your post lol. But be cool to try any prototypes you've made

@@CMYKolours I checked out Reckless Overdrive by Flippant Games and just joined Steam... No idea how I can actually play the game though lol
This review is great. Thanks!
Have you played Circus Maximus? Much more involved and longer. If you have, how would you compare the two games?

Couldn't find the older version of this game (which is apparently better) so I'm printing it up and making it myself! :D
Check these out.
Rallyman, Formula-d, Speed circuit. Those are my favs!

How about bringing this one back via Dice Tower Essentials? Seems like the perfect candidate.
Hmmm... not having the funagain games advertising at the end felt a little strange :)
Doesn't look like my kind of racing game, but I enjoyed watching this review all the same. Was curious about this game when I heard about it.
Did you really say fast and furious about this racing game :P
Qvadriga is similar to this
