- Lynne Thigpen, who was a major musical talent before focusing on straight dramatics, with her inspirational "What I Could Have Been" from "Working". The 1982 gala performance in Washington D.C. was a musical tribute honoring the 10th anniversary of the Kennedy Center's commitment and decade-long support of the performing arts.
The best chief ACME ever had. Rest well, Lynn.
It bothers me that so many people don't know this part of her life. She was extraordinarily talented. And most people remember her as "The Chief".
She sang Bless the Lord in the movie Godspell.
She was so in the Broadway show Tintypes -- was Absofreakinglutely Amazing

I've been a MAJOR fan since 1981 when I saw her in Tintypes - and once you latch on to her talent and look, you Never forget her!!!!
Saw her turn up many times on TV as things like, a judge in Law and Order, a patient, or a nurse on a Dr show
One of my favorite "unknown" perfomers! SOOOOOO talented
Very moving!
Thank you, Lynne Thigpen for all of the memories you gave us as Luna
what a beautiful voice! r i p Lynne Thigpen
OMG! What a voice mane!
This is epic!Multi-talented.❤❤❤❤
Thank you Lynne for being an inspirational figure and helping little kids like me dream of learning and exploring.
R.I.P. beautiful lady. We will never forget you.
Now that's how you interpret a song! Excellent example of playing the hope and the positive in a song that could easily be played "woe is me." Fabulous singer and actress! RIP
Wow!😮👏🏾👏🏾
The radio mouth on the movie The Warriors: "Alright all you boppers....''
Oh God - what she was and what she could have been. One of the greats. xoxoxoxo
Shrimani J. Senay If you dont bow, you'll be great because you are ....famous nope.
She WAS one of the greats!
@@dale19532 I agree. She was cut off way too soon.
A wonderfull singer and a very classy lady. Gone far too soon.
One of my favorites. I really miss this woman.
Such an amazing talent. Love love love Lynne Thigpen.
My favorite character that Lynne Thigpen voiced is Luna from Bear in the Big Blue House
This performance has haunted me for so long. I’m so glad to have found it.
A great performance by a great lady.
I remember her from Godspell and Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego, and this is certainly a good view into some of her other accomplishments!
Her spirit is alive ..she is with the lord.
She was very talented. I remember watching her on PBS when I was a kid.
I will always remember her as D.J. in The Warriors.
I needed a good cry this AM. What a talent!
A terrific singer and one heck of a fantastic actress!
She has a good singing voice.
Thanks for being a good woman who loved GOD ...talented and we'll loved.😙
Amazing! Just perfection. Gone far too soon. For me, she will always be Luna the Moon in 'Bear in the big blue house ' and The Chief on 'where on Earth is Carmen sandiego?"
The best.
She was in the original production of "Tintypes" and was great. In the two productions I did of the show, I was blessed to have three great performers who were her equals!
amazing voice
r.i.p lynne
Damn! I had no idea she could sing, especially like that. Awesome. Thanks for posting.
Check Lynne out in the movie version of Godspell. First time I ever saw her back in '73.
Pamela Hamilton Seek out the original cast recording of the stage musical "Tintypes."
She also voiced Luna the Moon in 'Bear in the big blue house ' and sang on that show also
I think that she should have played the mother of Pam (Tichina Arnold) in an episode of "Martin." They looked alike, and they both had singing talent.
An appropriate swan song considering she was far and above better than any diva in the last twenty years,
I never saw Lynne Thigpen a singer before!!!!! Not only that I see her on Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? or Where in time is Carmen Sandiego?!!!!
Yep, she played the chief on 'Carmen SanDiego', She also voiced Luna the Moon in 'Bear in the big blue house ' and sang on that show also
What you could have been, darling x
She looks so strong ⌚️
She was luna
Ommmg
Wish someone had access the the master recording of this and upload it to TH-cam.
This 💯
Luna from The Bear And The Big Blue House.
As The Chief sings onstage, one of Carmen's V.I.L.E. henchmen sneaks into the gala performance disguised as a random guest, ripped the Kennedy Center off from its foundation, and hauled it away.
If a Nina Simone movie would’ve been made in 90s, her!
45 seconds into the video, and I find out Lynne did so much more than be part of Carmen Sandiego.
She could of played Queen Aeolion's sister on Coming 2 America. Gone too soon..
This Is Luna
Hey, this was really fun...
We hoped you liked it too
