We used fien nibblers at the metalbuilding company I work for it's pretty awesome it's a little more pricey but won't disappoint then the others . My second choice would be the corded makita .

Hi. Can you cut a piece of steel that is bent at a 90 degree angle without stopping using the Makita? Also how loud is it? I install steel lockers for a living and I'm looking for a tool to cut fillers and sloped hoods for the lockers.

@@kazeet456 . I would Guess it depends on the thickness of steel , if it's a thin gauge you might be able too, thicker it might be a problem. Most nibbler manufacturers will provide a range spec for the thickness and type of metal the tool can handle. Punch and heads also make a difference depending on type of steel and can be interchanged for different steel types you are cutting. But if your cutting corner trim and gable eve trim , yes no problem, if it's got a folded edge use your tin snips first to get past fold part .

@@justotorres8970 Thanks for the reply and info Justo. I think I'm going to give it a shot. Even if it doesn't do a 90 on my material I think it will be useful.

Whenever I see videos of nibblers the cuts always look straight and square. I have a Milwaukee nibbler and I have difficulty getting a nice straight cut I am satisfied with. I’m sure a lot of it has to do with the skill of the user but I wish there was an attachment that could be used with it so that it could be butted up against a straight edge guide. Also since when cutting there is a kerf of significant width it would be nice to have an arrow indicator showing where the cut edge will be on the finished part.

The Makita switches are a poorly designed set-up. It's too easy to brush across the switch, turning the nibbler off multiple times per use. I replaced it with the new Milwaukee M12 nibbler which is much better. BTW, if you are looking for a new one, keep in mind the corded versions are a pain in the neck as the cords are prone to get pulled across the edge of the metal and get cut. It's a pain to run cords as well, especially on the lift, the same lift which ends up running over the cord a couple times a day..
