    Being vegan and having a nut-allergy must suck so much.

    • @KristaaRae
      @KristaaRae 8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      A person with a nut allergy's tolerance for nuts usually increases after they go vegan

    • @islandbee
      @islandbee 7 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      If they have a nut allergy, you shouldn't have a problem with something made with cashews. Cashews come from a fruit actually.

    • @VampireJack10
      @VampireJack10 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      That could be quite dangerous advice - I'd recommend those with nut allergies to ignore KK there.

    • @VampireJack10
      @VampireJack10 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cashews should be fine, but there is always the risk of cross-contamination.

    • @singngurli4jc
      @singngurli4jc 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm allergic to RAW Almonds. Surprisingly, Roasted almonds are fine. I have a somewhat severe reaction to cashews... And possibly pistachios. But yes, it does suck to have these reactions when Im trying to go vegan. Because the majority of the recipes have Cashews or soy. :/

    I loved this video and the fact that she uses traditional cheesemaking techniques is really cool. I noticed in the comments that it's difficult for people outside of America (like me) to order her stuff. I recommend her two cookbooks artisan vegan cheese and the homemade vegan pantry. I haven't read artisan vegan cheese but I assume it's about cheese. The Homemade Vegan Pantry has a really good butter recipe, really cool recipes for cheddar, mozzarella, feta and just a general beginner's guide to vegan cheesemaking. That book is really cool and has a lot of great plant-based recipes for staple ingredients. I use the library a lot and enjoy cookbooks (reading more than cooking) and lately I've been gravitating towards the plant-based and vegan cookbooks.

    Just tried Miyoko's Creamery; which I may say is indeed real, just procured from cashews as opposed to the nastiness that is dairy.
    I am never going back to dairy cheese after trying these. Keep up the awesome work Miyoko! Thank you Vegan Zombie for helping me find delectable cheeses made out of cashwes. *hug*

    I get the cheeses at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods in the SF bay area, not far from Fairfax. All I can say is that this is the REAL DEAL, as enjoyable as dairy cheese, that cashew is so good. The lox cream cheese is off the charts delicious with Pita chips. I tried the truffle cheese round with some white corn chips for delivery, and it's gone (at one sitting).

    Boy she's not kidding when she said those specific "cheeses" are smoked! Whewww. If you like smoked cheese go ahead but I didn't realize it was smoked (I bought it on sale and decided to try it without looking at anything except that it was vegan) and it just took over my entire mouth in a way I wasn't prepared for! Hahaha... I would like to try the other flavors though.

    I think Myioko's doing a very important job.. these cheese seems so good, as italian I think that the texture , the taste and the freshness as mozzarella is, we're not to the turning point :/ , mozzarella I think is something that for now we cannot imitate.. I hope one day..

    • @justinw1765
      @justinw1765 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mozzarella is such a boring, tasteless cheese anyways. I much prefer the tangier, more complex tasting ones.

    • @eponymousIme
      @eponymousIme 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Her mozzarella is very close to fresh mozzarella. The texture is excellent. The only thing missing is the --- not sure how to describe it....cream flavor? --- that cow's milk imparts to the dairy version. For now, this is as close as you're gonna get to a vegan mozzarella, and it's totally worth it to have a healthier version that does not perpetuate cruelty to animals. Her smoked mozzarella is the bomb!

I was taking a photo and a lady came up to me and said that is smart to do take a phot insted of buying it. i said I know of this cheese. I'll tweet you the photo. the shop is selling it for $15 and $14. It is a little to high in price for me. I know you guy love it but i'm a broke young dude in maine! I want to try it but i'll need to save some money to get some. I want try and make a vegan cheese at some point with hemp or chia. I'll let you know how that comes out!

      @eponymousIme 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow. $15 in 2016? Even when I was buying it 2 years ago, I don't think I ever paid more than $10-$12. Maybe the shipping across country accounted for the extra cost . . .?
      Now there are some in the $8 range (mozzarellas), but most of the flavors tend hover around $10-$11 at my local stores. If you can get them on sale, definitely stock up. Whole Foods doesn't carry all the flavors (boo) but sometimes they price them very competitively -- lower than the smaller local-chain natural-foods markets. I sure wish Trader Joe's would carry them.

    I'm not Vegan, but I tried Miyoko's cheese and I'm hooked, it's super tasty (and I love peanuts + cashews). I highly recommend for Non-Vegans + Vegans :)

    I tried her herb cheese and its really good. Its good to know that the cream cheese isn't that great. I will look into the Black Ash and Mozzarella.

      +DLJones098 Aw thanks, glad you like our show. What recipe did you try?

    • @DLJones098
      @DLJones098 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vegan nacho cheese. I was amazed how good it was and how close to cheese it tasted. That's why I was excited when I saw this video. I cannot wait to try there cheese, I hope they got stores here in Florida that will sell it. If not I will tell the local health store I go to so they can reach out to these guys.

      +Melissah B. All the IGAs near me have hardly anything :c some just have biocheese.

      I bought a Biocheese 200g block for 6$(pretty steep) and it tastes exactly the same as those string cheese sticks, which taste fake and not natural. I didn't mind it though a ''real'' tasting cheese would be better

    Thank you for making this video. I've recently seen this company's products everywhere and it's great seeing inside their facility and knowing that it's worth it to pay a little more for this brand than the other vegan cheezes.
