Still using the AV600 and it works great. If I ever run into any problems, I just reboot it by unplugging it and plugging it back in.

    Awesome product.
I set mine up in my garden office which is 15 meters away from the main router in the lounge in my house.
I tried and tested many ways to set up this device. It works best when you plug the small tp link adapter in a mains wall outlet. I plugged the bigger device (wi fi booster) into an extension power strip in my office. It worked but I had much reduced speed, I then switched it over to a wall mains outlet and I was getting almost maximum speeds. I have sky fibre broadband with a maximum speed of 36mb.
I was getting 29 to 31mb on the speed test website and that was using WiFi on my macbook pro. When I switched over to an ethernet cable I was getting 34mb.
A good tip is, don't plug any of the tp link devices into a surge protector strip as it hinders its performance.

Truly amazing video! I stupidly just followed the instructions and was like "it's not doing anything..." Not realizing it creates a 2nd network that you need to match to your home network. Thank you!!

You don’t have to plug them in the same outlet or power strip to sync them. I plugged mine where they’re supposed to go, one upstairs and one downstairs, as long as you hit pair within 2 minutes. Only thing I don’t like is it only has 2.4G for WiFi.

@@NUTZJ98 Don’t get me wrong, I loved this device when I was using it. What I’m trying to say, to let everybody know, as a WiFi extender it only has 2.4GHz. I agree to a point, yes 5GHz has crappy signal range, but it’s a faster connection. I game and was lagging often, even disconnecting sometimes. That’s why I bought this in the first place, to alleviate my connection issue. But now I moved to a house where it’s more open, and to my surprise my 5GHz is noticeably faster than using this.

@@chunkysnail9351 perhaps he’s just doing a demo, but the information I put out is for the mass. Someone who don’t know how to set it up might follow his motions step by step, which is not wrong, but it’s an unnecessary step.

@@recgraph My apologies, I don’t get what you mean by this comment. Anyway, to those who may have misinterpreted my initial post, this is a good product, I actually bought one because of this video, but I don’t recommend it for gamers, my 5GHz WiFi has faster connection compare to this even when I was using this hard wire connected. If you’re going to use it as a WiFi extender don’t be disappointed that it only has 2.4GHz WiFi frequency. If you don’t need a WiFi extender and want to stay with the same brand, I can’t say I can recommend it because I haven’t bought one, but the AV1000 has dropped in prices and it connects up to 1G connection.

If you are happy at 20Mbps (or much less), this is it. It works better for single phase than 3-phase elect system. My similar tp link kit (non gigabit Ethernet ports) delivered 70Mbps up and 25 down (paired just next to each other) for having 300 up and 50 down subscription. My best speed became 5 up and 7 down after tested for 10 elect power supply point (3-phase). Better than nothing at far locations, 2-floor house 330 m².

Before on my 5GHz bandwidth WIFI I would get speed of 10mb down and 5mb up with unpredictable latency. Now I get a solid 40mb down and 10mb up with very good latency. OK, so to answer a common question. In my situation, I needed wifi signal in a detached garage behind my house. I paired the device like in the video, but now I have the base getting internet through a switch and plugged directly into a wall outlet. The wifi receiver is in the detached garage also plugged directly into a wall outlet. These are on different breakers, but it works well enough to stream youtube videos/music to my ipad, which is what I needed it for. Speedtest is showing 3.5 meg download and 6 meg upload. This is about 1/4 of what it was showing from when they were on the same circuit and plugged directly into the router. Hope this helps someone in a similar situation.

UPDATE: Issue now appears to be fully resolved - see additional update content at the bottom
    ---------------
Good when working, but the repeated randomly intermittent drop-outs make this to unbearable to use. The drop-outs are momentary and the device reconnects to the internet seconds later or up to half a minute later. The user interface software is also difficult to remain in, as it soon disconnects you at some point. Googling this device with the problem returns a scary search result showing that many users are encountering this issue with some being at the end of their tether. It’s just no worth the stress and is troubling that tp-link have not resolved this over time. I purchased the ver.5.0 as well, so is a very current unit.
    --------------
    UPDATE:-
Amazingly I believe the issue is resolved. Unbeknown at the time, it appears the problem was related to either the tp-link extender kit not liking my Virgin Broadband router, or visa versa. I purchased an ASUS RT-AX86U WiFi Router and then naturally put the Virgin Media Broadband router into “modem” mode only, this reconnecting the tp-link extender to the LAN port of the now new ASUS Router and hey presto, it works like a dream with no noticeable random internet disconnects for the last few days. I can’t believe it was the Virgin Media broadband router that was part of the issue and had I never purchased the ASUS RT-AX86U WiFi Router then I would have never known any better.
Suffice to say that now this TP-Link Extender kit is fully working, it must be said that the connection link and reliability appears rock-solid. Very pleased.

On another YT video it says that if you clone your network on the extender, as long as your target device can find the existing WiFi, it will select that over the extended WiFi unlike a mesh that chooses the closest stronger extended signal. So, by not cloning your network, you can manually choose which network to connect to and avoid this problem. Also you don't address if the power sockets are from different power groups.

Great video but it did not work for my customer, I had him buy a TP link two unit model such as the one in this video.. after more than an hour trying to set-up at a distance with him on the phone I gave-up, it seem that power line models work on the same electrical circuit, but when on a different circuit it may not function, so it got returned to Amazon.
I told my customer to go and buy the Netgear wall plug wifi mesh single extender that was in-stock at his local Staples store. It has worked perfectly, my customer has an IP phone that is far from the router and requires a wired connection. With the WPS setup I was able to guide him over the phone. Really great during Covid as he is 79.

Very nice pres. I will use these in a detached garage where there is no wifi signal from my router. With today's tech in these devices, I think placement in both places will not be an issue to get a good solid connection.

So the reciever picks up the connection from the main wired to router unit.. when you plug the main unit to router it automatically gives internet...then pair 2nd unit with main to recieve Internet from that

    1. Is this device work perfect in an apartement ?
    2. Can we paired and set the device in a multiple socket ?
    3. And can we set with a tether’in app in a mobile phone ?
    Thx.

    I still don't get it.
The official instructions state that it automatically CLONES the Wi Fi , password etc , so no bother with re-naming anything.
my middle LED remains off ?
Something is wrong and I believe I'm at fault here, that makes the whole experience ultra frustrating.

Speed can drop if the internal wiring in the house is poor. Testing on a power strip doesn't show that.

Question. So when he said plug it into the back of the router. He means just one of the open ports right not the main port that supposed to go to the modem so that the routers Wi-Fi can work. Because if I take it out then the Wi-Fi will not work and also if I already have WiFi then do I have to use the TP-Links adapter Wi-Fi?

Is that because of the Dynamic Frequency Selection? (DFS is an auto-on function that cannot be enabled on Web GUI) I'm not sure but maybe your front-end router was using a DFS channel that your Range Extender does not support and if that's the case you may re-select a channel that is among U-NII-1(36/40/44/48..)

If yours is making a screeching or buzzing sound; many were built with faulty 470uf capacitors (see many posts on the TP-Link community forums). These are repairable if you're good with soldering circuit boards, but after the 3 year warranty, TP-Link will tell you you're SOL (S#** Out of Luck) & won't even repair them if you offer to pay!

And anyway, it works fine in a power strip :)
Be a little more clear dude, you shouldn't mention ANYTHING about deadspot. you're gona screw people up. Just say once they're paired use the passwird which is written ontop of the BIGGER of the 2 plugs. I was looking ontop of the box you were pointing at for the password lol. Took me 35 minutes and a call to the company who make them to work it out!

Great tutorial but I have a question. Someone advised me to use this in my customers houses to connect their solar inverters to the household wifi because when they change their router as long as the master end was plugged back into the new router the solar inverter would auto connect to the router, no need to edit the AV 600 to the new router (I would have the receiver end hard wired aswell)
