  • A very common question in College Entrance exams or High School Maths exams is being asked to detail the steps required to transform a rectangular hyperbola y=1/x into a graph of the form y=(ax+b)/(cx+d). There are many ways to achieve this, and in this video we explain firstly how to proceed in general and then as an example we show four ways to transform y=1/x into y=(-8x-44)/(x+5) using a combination of reflections, stretches and translations.
