    ‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣ THIS EPISODE ‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣
    Our incredible week at North Campground right on the rim of Bryce Canyon National Park had to end at some point. This site (Loop B - 40) was the best in the whole campground in our opinion, so if you are able to snag that one, you will love it!
    In our 4 Stages of Solar, • DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY... ,we mentioned that we thought it was a waste of money to have portable solar panels. We are retracting that statement in this episode!
    Leaving Bryce was the beginning of a mad cross-country dash in classic Nickerson style! On our way out of Utah and into Arizona, we had to stop and see the crazy water levels at Lake Powell that have dropped 98 feet in the last 5 years; and, as you can see from the photos and video from the last time we were there, it has dropped a whole lot in just the last two!
    Looking out over the lake, we were reminded of one of our favorite adventures with our friends @weventuretogether when we kayaked out to the back side of Antelope Canyon, had an epic hike that may have taken too long and caused us to have to paddle back in the dark! Floating under those massive canyon walls with the full moon rising is something we and the girls will never forget!
    Our “quick” stop to see Lone Rock with no water around it caused us to be late to see sunset at Horseshoe Bend... again. It doesn’t matter though. The view down to the river from Horseshoe Bend Overlook will constantly take your breath away. It is one of those places that is overwhelming every time we visit!
    We restocked with an overnight stay at Walmart and headed off to Texas to meet our newest niece for the first time. We also planned on stopping at a few National Parks that we had never seen before.
    TRAVEL TIP: Don’t let your lack of time keep you from stopping by a new location. Everytime we have stopped at a new place even for just an hour, we have always found adventure and made memories as a family!
    Stay tuned for next week as we hit 2 new National Parks and drive an insane amount of miles! Be sure to like and subscribe and click on the bell icon for notifications when we release new videos!
    Don’t wait to live your life, find your 🔆SOMEDAY🔆 now!

    Apparently you do have to worry about roof solar panels being stolen. My friend was on Blm land and had to go into Quartzite for a few hours doing errands. The next day she noticed 2 solar panels were missing. There is no damage to the roof the panels were unscrewed and disconnected from the other 2 panels.

    • @FindingOurSomeday
      @FindingOurSomeday  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yikes! Ours can’t be accessed to unscrew from our roof without doing some massive damage as the feet are sealed to our roof. So sorry that happened to your friend.

    Wow, you’re right about Horseshoe Bend and being more commercialized. Though I am glad for those added rails- the last time we were there we had to look away after we got our family pic -a lady came up behind us next to the edge wearing slippery sandals (we could hear her slipping in the rocks/gravel)- 🫣

    Wow, we were at lone rock when you were there. I recognized the blue bus about 4 spots from us and can see our rig. Even with low water, Lone Rock didn’t disappoint. We didn’t plan to stay as long as we did, but loved it! McMounts from VT!

    Enjoy White Sands My high school & college years (1964 -> 1970) were spent there. To bad they still don't have RV parking there but it's worth the stop. Carlsbad is also a very special place. Keep up the magnificent pictures and videos. You help me see things I can't hike into. 😊

    Deb and I have "discussed" the value of a foldable panel for awhile now and this video settled it for us, thanks!! Every RVer packs what they think they need and then has to regret some of the choices. There are the things we bring that we don't need and the things we wish we had with us. I know on the Appalachian Trail they have boxes along the way where hikers leave the items they no longer feel the need to carry or they have upgraded from, and other hikers come alone to take items from the boxes that are better then the ones they have or something they forgot in the first place. By the time they reach the end of their thru hike their packs are the perfect mix of what they need to succeed. I think RVer's do the same thing as they go down the road!!

    Actually the main park road is a large pirtion of old rt 66. You can go in either depending on your travel direction, then exit other gate. Stop as much as you want or just a leisurely drive thu.
    Standing on a corner Winslow, AZ is nearby with lots of yummy cafes

    We mounted a 620-w array on the side of our motorhome over the bedroom window. It doubles as a great awning too. It uses gas struts to lift itself into place, easy peasy. We just pin it to the correct angle for maximum solar production. A liftable solar array will provide at least 20% more power than a flat, roof mounted array, (more in the winter) plus it's easy to clean with a windshield squeegee so there's no need to climb on the roof to raise it, clean it or put it away for travel. The problem with a portable array is that you have to put it up when you leave your RV (just like you would a portable generator) so it doesn't get stolen. This limits your solar production to the hours you are in your RV. So, when you are away sightseeing beautiful Bryce during the day, you're not getting any output out of it, and when you get back to camp, if you're like us, it's usually too late in the day to put it out.

    Consider adding Chiricahua National Monument to one of your trips, Ft Bowie is also near there 1.5. mile hike to the Ft and then 1.5 miles bak easy hike. Ft was there to protect Apache Springs for the Mail and passenger Butterfield Stage, you hike past the ruins of the stagecoach station and past Apache Springs water just comes straight out o a rock in the mountain. I you like Bryce you'll love Chiricahua NM. And un little town of Tombstone is only about 40 miles away

    Once again another great informative video. We are currently hiking the trails in Sedona. We did White Sands one week ago, absolutely beautiful. People sliding downhill on saucers like it was snow. Fantastic Enjoy! The elevation really affected us in Ruidoso, NM, 7200 ft, but then we are senior citizens, not sure if that makes the difference as first time for us. We are looking forward to visiting Bryce next week , safe travels!

    Night time photography (astrophotography). You already have a good camera. You need a good intensifer filter, sturdy tripod, good battery, remote, a star chart, flash light (w/red light option), and good tread shoes....LOL (got to watch out for scorpions, spiders, and snakes).
    Horseshoe Bend is gorgeous, makes for an excellent place for sunset, and night photography. You need night time hot chocolate when taking night pictures.
    I hope y'all were able to go to White Sands, and enjoyed the park. We always get great pictures of family on the sand dunes when that sun hits the white sand, and you have the blue sky, and clouds in the back ground. My husband was stationed at Holloman AFB next to White Sands, and Alamorgordo, and he still has family living in the basin there.

    Love your channel!!! How do you transport your e-bikes? We also have two of the Lectric 2.0, we fold them put each in a large tote and carry them inside the camper. They’re to tall to fit under the tonneau cover. May have to go to a topper. Thank you you all for the great content

      I am gonna side with Corey on this one. When backing blindly, the more eyes, the better. Since Corey is "blind," his questions become his eyes. Further he is not questioning Jessie's instructions. He is supplementing his knowledge by asking questions. Last but surely not least, it ls their practiced system. It works for them. My 2 cents.

      @Jim and Ellen Meadows yes I agree. I always ask questions when my wife is backing me up, and sometimes, she actually will ask me to step out to check out the situation.

    Have a strange question. Does the visitors center have coffee? We can manage dry camping for several days, but need to run the generator to charge the lead acid batteries and to make coffee. Would prefer not to run it early in the morning, but got to have coffee..

      I’m not sure, have you guys thought about getting a French press for boondocking? They are really small . I preferred that over pour over since you can make it stronger.

      @@FindingOurSomeday Thanks for the info. They actually make a K-cup press, that you just need to add hot water. Made by Gourmia. We are going to give that a try. Joy and I both like different blends of coffee.

    How about a link to the foldable solar panels!!

  • @tm8747
    @tm8747 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    as far as solar panels i bought 2 each 1000watts panels on top of me rig, thats 42 amps per each solar panel, running 10 - 6 volt series to make 12v batteries, . the reason for the 6volt, is because the 6volt batteries can drain down to 1 volt and recover everytime, , but th a 12 volt battery goes pass 10.8 volts its TOAST? it could happen one or 2 times, but after that TOAST! my trailer is 25foot towhauler, and for an added bonus, at night i run a 40 windmill that i made , the average amps are between 18 and 25 amps all night . people laugh at me about it but, IT WORKS GREAT.

    Gotta say that site at Bryce was sweet! What video editing tool do you use? One of mine is too simple, and another I'm trying to use is over my head. I've said it before, Love seeing your tt Reflection. Ours is a different model, but it makes your videos more relatable as you go places that the larger 5 ers can't.

    Your channel has overtaken all the other RV channels I subscribe to as my #1 favorite. The photography and video/drone work is just incredible, but what really seems to pull the sensory input all together for me are your choices in music. I just wish your videos were longer, so I could immerse myself into your journey that much more. Except for when you get up close to big drop-offs, which you seem to do a lot of, and tonite's video was no exception. As soon as I get that familiar and ominous tingle at the base of my spine, I know it time to throw my hand up and block my view of the video for a few moments.
