    @SCheyanne Thank you for your comment. Glad that you enjoyed this video. Malacca is very special to me, too. My husband visited Malaysia and we stayed in Malacca (Melaka) for one month. He loves Malacca too. It was his first visit and he was very impressed with what he had seen and experienced.

    Thanks so much John. I truly appreciate your kind compliments. Yes, Alfred was very impressed with what he had seen and experienced. Lots of history, indeed. Can't put all in one TH-cam. The old places have not changed much. They are well taken care of.
    In fact, the government also discovered the megalith stones in the suburbs. One set of 3 upright stones have engraving with flowers and other motifs. Archeologists are making more studies about them.

    Thank you Tom. Glad that you enjoyed the video. I got emotional towards the end ref to late Tunku Abdul Rahman for I met him in person several times at the same hotel ballroom in Kuala Lumpur but he was already in wheel chair.
    We still call him Bapa Merdeka (Father of Independence) and Bapa Malaysia (Father of Malaysia)

    Thanks beadssticher for your compliments. There are a number of Malaysians in Australia and quite a large number of Australians have repeatedly visiting Malaysia each year. Many of them served in Malaysia before and after the Independence. There are a few RAAF Bases there and I used to visit their sports club in the north. Nice people to hang around with.

    @Bangkokokhoo Thank you very much for your comment. Glad that you enjoyed Melaka. Wikipedia: After almost 300 yrs of existence, in 1806, the British, unwilling to maintain the fortress & wary of letting other European powers taking control of it, ordered its slow destruction. The fort was almost totally demolished. The timely intervention of Sir S Raffles visiting Malacca in 1810 saved them. The only remnants of the earliest Portuguese fortress in SE Asia is the Fort A Famosa.

    Thank you very much tukilala.
    The music is 'Joget Serampang Laut', a typical Malaysian folk music which is used for Joget, a folk dance by the Malays, the Peranakan and the Portuguese communities.
    Joget, was instroduced by the early Portuguese immigrants and adapted by the locals.
    The musical instruments used are traditional too.
    Those Joget music with lyrics are sung by a male & female where they exchange cheerful poems or responses, spontaneously, like a teasing song.

    After the collapse of the Srivijaya kingdom by the expansion of the Indian Chola empire, the Malay nation experienced a prolonged civil war until it split into small kingdoms, until the Siamese Thai kingdom annexed the northern Malay kingdom which is now southern Thailand. European nations conquered many empires through divide and rule politics, after the empire broke into small kingdoms, Europe preyed on the small kingdoms one by one. Of course, if the Malay nation was still united like in the Srivijaya era, it would have been difficult for Europe to conquer it, maybe even southern Thailand is still the Malay Peninsula.yieziyzs

    Great video, thanks a lot. But one thing I want to say...that I checked many history book, Princess Hang Li Po(Poh) does not exist in Chinese history...only storybook in Malaysia. I believe that part is not the true history.

    • @JasAlf5959
      @JasAlf5959  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zheng Youlai In the past, it was known that emperors and kings married off their children for political ties. Hang is a Chinese sur name and some say Hang Jebat, Hang Lekir, Hang Tuah etc. accompanied Hang Li Po to Melaka. A year a ago, I read from somewhere that archeologists found a sunken ship in the Straits of Melaka where relics and other items in the ship date back to Hang Li Po's era. The items were unique and the origin was from the Chinese palace. Such items were said to be gifts including some personal belongings of a Chinese royal, probably, a bride.
      As time past, more archeological finds have been found and several became evidence to new historical records.

    • @fakhrulhazman
      @fakhrulhazman 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hang is NOT a Chinese surname. It's a title given by the Sultan like Dato', Seri Nara Diraja, etc.. Hang Li Po is given the name as a recognition from her husband, the Sultan.

      Debasis Ghosh Parmeshwara was a Hindu King who later on converted to muslim while losing war to Hindu Majapahit of Indonesia and the crowd followed the same. Many Malaysian these days recognise their Hindu ancestry while most hate to talk about it. Thanks.

    • @dunkenus
      @dunkenus 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nitin Sharma ive read some n remembered some..yes Gangga Negara, (Perak) Langkasuka (Kedah upwards) were Hindu/Buddhist in origin but none has been seriously considered as significant as Melaka because excavation is still on going at some sites..plus Southern Indian also among the major contributors of Islamic propagation apart from South Yemeni during Melaka Sultanete....one thing for sure very few put interest in Malaysian History...we dont hate our hindu ancestry...it just insignificant to us Malays..no offence..

    seems like hindu is forgotten here..15th century ?if you want know about malaysia history ,why don't you search before 15th century ? 15th century too new to be part of history ..too much things have been twisted from truth ..feel proud ?its ok feel it..

    • @MrLantean
      @MrLantean 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +sayNOtoRELIGION KARMAisWAITING That is the problem. History books in Malaysia pay very little attention to pre-Islamic Hindu-Buddist Malay civilization and only mentioned in footnotes. Not mention the attempt to change history. It is an established fact that Melaka Sultanate began in 1400 which is verified from Ming Dynasty Chinese records, Siamese records and Portuguese records. Then in 2011, Melaka Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam declared that Melaka Sultanate actual founding date is 1262 based on a research done by a group of historians from Malaysian Institute for History and Patriotism Research (IKSEP). The research is based on the book 'Raja Bongsu: Salatus Salatin' which is part of the Sejarah Melayu or Malay Annals. It is alright to declare such findings but must find evidence to support it. The finding need to be verified by crossreference with reliable and accurate historical information from other countries or archeological evidence. Now in the Melaka Government website, 1262 instead of 1400 is the year of Melaka founding. The Melaka Government is accepting a history information that had not been verified.
