I've been diving deep into the history before Sarawak was ruled by the Brooke Family. There is a lot of interesting facts and parts of history to learn!

Man, the moment you spoke a sentence of Dutch terms reminds me of a good friend of mine from Feyenoord. Because of this pandemic he couldn't be able to come here to Malaysia. Btw I suddenly jumped into your channel while looking for the videos covering on my in-laws hometown in Padawan. My wife is from there while I'm from KL. We missed Sarawak, and because of this pandemic it has been a year and a half we couldn't be able to go back to Sarawak. Thanks for your videos, every time we watch them we feel like we are back in Sarawak
Hey there! I'm so happy you found my channel! Thanks for watching the videos. Padawan is one of my favorite areas here in Sarawak. I can't wait to explore more of it after the MCO! Take care!
@@GlobalGibbon I think I should invite you to the Christmas celebration at my wife's village after all this MCO ends. My father in law owns an orchard maybe we can have a little bit fun during the fruit season at the end of the year

Because of the Dutch, the Gold miners moved from Western Kalimantan to Bau in Sarawak. These miners created their own little state and even tried to assassinate James Brooke. That's the connection!
VOC brought Cocoa from south america and Coffee from africa to Malaysian archipelago. Which are still important export produce for the country. They also brought cengkeh and nutmeg to Melaka. It's tragic that indonesian trying to slander the VOC and frame them for only bad. Btw the Dutch/Eurasians also introduced Spekkoek or Lapis Legit. Which is such a delicious and iconic pastry. ❤
we learn in school at the time dutch own part of sumatera, Portuguese own melaka. the dutch trick the Portuguese to swap the land with them becoz they want melaka port which is the singapore of the time. Dutch told portuguese that the piece of land in sumatera is very fertile(which is not).

You can also see the influence of the Dutch on the Malay language. Some of the words are similar or assimilate into the Malay language
Indeed! There are a couple of words that are the same in Dutch! More similarities can be seen in Bahasa Indonesia.
