    Awesome tutorial. Thanks!
    To anyone looking for "Point Instance", it is now "Instance on Points", you need to drag and drop your object into the Geometry node pane to get the object info then connect it from "Geometry" to "Instance". "Point separate", is also now called "Separate Geometry."

    Hi. At 3:00 when you are moving the origins. Click options (above the Viewport Shading icons) and select Origins. Set the Snap Tool to Vertex (Top middle of 3D window) and turn on snapping.
    Now you can snap the origins to the corner. No edit mode. No snap the cursor there first.
    Much quicker and easier.

    Hello and thanks for this great tutorial ! I struggle with 3.0 to do the point separate... I found a separate geometry node now but can't find a proper solution for the selection input... Do you have any idea ??? thanks again and bravo ! :)

    • @rma1979
      @rma1979 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Point Separate became "Separate Geometry" in 3.0, as it lets you do more than just points
      Here's how I got this part working (bear in mind I'm still learning Geometry Nodes myself)
      Assuming the same setup as the video, we have:
      Width: number of X vertices
      Height: number of Y vertices
      SizeX: (Width - 1)
      SizeY: (Height - 1)
      Initial setup is the same as before, until you get to the point separate part
      Add a "Separate Geometry" node, with the drop-down set to points
      * For the Geometry input, use the output of the Transform (rotate X 90 degrees) node
      For the Selection input:
      * Add a new Input->Position node
      * Connect that to a Vector->Separate XYZ
      * Add a Utilities->Math node to divide the SizeY by 2
      * Add a Utilities->Compare Floats
      * Set the Operation to "Greater Than or Equal",
      * Connect the "Z" from Separate XYZ to the "A" input
      * Connect the Math (SizeY/2) to the "B" input
      * Connect the result from the "Greater Than or Equal" node to the "Selection" input on Separate Geometry
      The "Selection" output will be the top row, and the "Inverted" will be everything else. Connect these to the "Geometry" inputs on two "Instance on Points" nodes, and add a Join Geometry right before the Group Output to bring them back together

    • @rma1979
      @rma1979 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@norunoru_ch That took a bit of fiddling, but yes. I checked both the Separate Children and Reset Children boxes, and connected Collection Info to a Separate Components node. The Instances output from that went into the Instance on Points node. On Instance on Points, I have "Pick instance" checked so it only selects a single item from the collection, and the random value goes into the Instance Index socket

    Hello
    I've been following the tutorial but when it came the time to add the "Point Instance" (4:32) In the Geometry nodes I couldn't find it anywhere. As it been removed? Updates?

    • @Chong3D
      @Chong3D  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at all, it depends on your building design, if your design don't have the pillar, then you can actually skip the pillar part start from 14:00 to 17:06

      @@GeorgeKarala Hi, sorry my bad, we can't skip the pillar part.
      But all we need to do is we need to modified the modelling for roof corner,
      and beside this we need to replace the pillar with window.
      Then after this, use the transform node to put 4 side of wall together

    Can someone tell me if the dimensioning and annotation was done in Blender as well? If so, how? If not, how?

    • @Chong3D
      @Chong3D  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the annotation is not done in Blender, it is done in Adobe Illustrator and Premiere pro.
      And if you are looking for free alternative, you can also try to use Inkscape and Blender video editor to do the same thing
      Inkscape is an open source software like Adobe illustrator, you can find tons of tutorial on TH-cam.

  • @jinxxpwnage
    @jinxxpwnage 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really roundabout way of making a generator compared to houdini. But it's still impressive to see blender start to dip its toes into procedural point manipulation. The issue is it's way too optimized. 1 node has 3 things that it does so making it do something different will require other 6 nodes. It also can't export unreal engine tool or even uvs yet or even optimal coding to isolate data types or promote specific values but hoping it becomes good someday.

    • @Chong3D
      @Chong3D  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with you, when comes to procedural modeling, no one can compete with Houdini at the moment, it is a lot easier to make something cool in Houdini 3D. Btw, to export the object create using Geometry nodes to Unreal Engine, Blender needs to rely on a plugin called AlterMesh
