      @@user-kiwikind If foreign nationals in Australia dont take out citizenship then deportation is the risk they run when they commit a crime. If parents on a PR take out citizenship then any baby born to them in Australia is considered to be an Australian citizen by birth. If they dont take out citizenship then that child automatically goes onto the same visa as its parents. Once a child reaches 10 and has lived here all that time they automatically qualify for citizenship only need to apply for it. Just out of curiosity if Australia got involved in a war and conscription was introduced would these legal New Zealanders play the "that dosent apply to me card" - pretty sure that they would and probably be the first in line for a flight across the ditch. If those kiwis that have lived in this country for many years (some of them for most of their lives) cant fully commit by taking out citizenship then why should Australia be obliged to treat them differently from any other foreign national that breaks the law ?

    Our country is far less safer thanks to Australia’s policies. As well it is less smart as the bulk of our young hard working talent with ambition go to Australia where theyre not wasted and paid less. The ones set to inherit wealth with a decent job stay, or the long term beneficiaries. My Maori mum has ten siblings, the top two are multi millionaires as baby boomers they purchased cheap property in the 80s, 90s seeing what was going to happen. The middle lot work factories in Aussie and that made them comfortable multiple home owners and holiday takers. The bottom three a life on welfare in NZ. No wonder why we’re 66th on the world GDP PPP , in 1979 we were 6th.
    If we keep falling it becomes a spiral that becomes harder to return from.

    As a Kiwi, the 501 argument is dumb. If we had thousands of Samoans that had come here at 2 years old and were committing crimes, we wouldn't blink in sending them back, and that policy would have broad support among NZers.
    If we want to benefit from the free movement between NZ and Aus (that in itself is a discussion to be had, given it's a massive net drain from our population), then we have to accept that just as easy as we can go over there, we can get 'sent back', regardless of whether you move there when you're 50 or 2 years old

    • @tracymichaelsen493

    The 501s who were raised in Australia...only the raw materials for them are from NZ. Those raw materials were taken and formed into criminals by Australia. Australian-made. He asked how it can be responsible to deport people who've lived their lives in Australia, to a country they have no connection to. The answer is: Because it's convenient. It's not sensible or just, but their criminal creations turned out to be a problem so they fob them off onto the place the raw materials came from, much like suing Oz because the frying pan made with Tiwai aluminium developed a hole, and the bauxite came from Darling Range.

    • @tracymichaelsen493

      It sets a precedence. Are they shipping this war monger back to Asia for crimes against humanity . If that's her agenda.

    • @bluekoala4382
      @bluekoala4382 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Australia does not form people into criminals. If someone lives in a country with all of the welfare benefits and opportunities of Australia and still chooses to turn to crime, that's a choice they've made themselves. If someone is living in Australia for a long time and won't formally commit to being an Australian, then they have chosen to put themselves in a position where they can be deported.

    • @r.1599
      @r.1599 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bluekoala4382 I didn't say "Australia forms people into criminals." I said these criminals are Australian-made. They were certainly not developed in NZ. Deporting people who have grown up in Australia, worked and contributed in Australia, been a part of the fabric of Australian society their whole lives, is just a convenient way to get rid of a person who was formed in Australia and turned out to be a bad egg...the only difference between a 501 and an Australian-born criminal, is the place of birth.
      "...won't formally commit to being an Australian". Direct (post four-years) Australian citizenship has only recently been made an option for NZ-born people, whereas a post five-year NZ citizenship has been possible for Australians all along. People living their whole lives in a country not of their birth, may assume they are citizens already. It's probable that the question of citizenship doesn't even enter their minds. How often does the average person question their citizenship as they go about living their day-to-day lives? There are many examples of people being surprised when it's time to retire and claim retirement benefits, only to find they're not citizens. It happens in the US, Britain, Australia, NZ, Canada...everywhere. Australia is deporting people that are _essentially Australian,_ because it's cheaper than putting them in Australian jails, with the excuse that the raw materials for that person came from another country.
      It's a cop-out.

    • @AngrySpartan9311
      @AngrySpartan9311 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It was very very difficult and costly to become an Australian citizen.

    • @r.1599
      @r.1599 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bluekoala4382 _Every_ country forms criminals. However, the environment and opportunities in each country define what kind of criminal will develop. The bigger, slicker, and more aggressive environment of Australia develops a bigger, slicker, and more aggressive criminal. There simply hasn't been the environment in NZ to develop a criminal on that level. That's why the arrival of 501s on NZ shores has been so devastating to NZ society. They're wolves let loose in a country that's never had wolves, and is not equipped to handle wolves.
      How many people going about their business in a country they've lived in all their lives, think about their citizenship? It's not top of mind and, if they do think about it, it is an extremely difficult and lengthy process to become an Australian citizen (whereas 93% of Australians can become NZ citizens within 18 months of applying). Many a person has been caught out come time for retirement when they find out that even though they assumed they were a citizen, they actually weren't.
      It's a cop-out to look at a criminal that's lived in your country all their life, worked there, contributed and paid taxes there, and say "Oooh, look. They lived the first eight weeks of their life in New Zealand. Isn't that _convenient!"_ And that's all it is - a convenient cop-out. A way to avoid spending taxpayer dollars on yet another criminal that Australian society formed. A way to show _'real'_ Australians that they're being tough on crime. But when you throw something away, it isn't _gone;_ it's just put somewhere else. Just as it's my responsibility to make sure that that Australian-made aluminium can of Fosters gets recycled responsibly in NZ, it's Australia's responsibility to make sure that every Australian-made criminal gets dealt with in the country in which they were cultivated.

      Opportunities are better, yes. Housing has gone through the roof over the last 10 years as it has everywhere. Mandatory Super, but comes with a Means Test, plus 67 minimum age retirement. Add to that, you can’t get pension unless both are 67, in N.Z once one partner is 65 the other can get it. And there’s no Means Testing.
      Similar prices for everything else except fuel, but vehicle insurance is way more expensive in Australia.
      Must have worked for a minimum of 34 years to get full pension so decisions have to be made by about 33-34 years of age prior to staying and/or going to Australia.
      As a dual citizen I was contemplating moving back to Australia but it’s just not worth it anymore as the house prices are far too expensive.

There are so many people on student, working , holiday visas stuggling in Australia financially that would die for these SCVs. Secondly you obey the laws and stay out of trouble in whatever country youb eside in . If you cant obey the laws then you deserve to be whatever situation you got yourself into. We dont need NZ to be part of Aukus and they werent asked to join pillar 1 anyhow so it has nothing to do with the transfer of nuclear powered submarine technology or NZ needing to build anything to accomodate them. NZ was asked along with other key allies like Japan, Canada South Korea if they would be interested in joining pillar 2 of Aukus which is the sharing of technology in things like Cyber. If the answer is sorry not interested then no big deal thats NZs call its not really an issue that the rest of the AUKUS grouping needs to worry about.

Why not ask her more about what China is doing that is causing concern? She made a good point, you either sit back and watch or you get involved. You could of asked her why Australia is getting involved that would of been interesting to know. China is our largest trading partner as it is for Australia, but China is not more important to us that the USA and Australia, not just trade but also where we get our technology from, direct foreign investment, the entire relationship. Jack, you seem to focus on one aspect because you are trying to prove a point that you have already made. As for the 501s, while I do not like them being sent back it is up to Australia.
