From a Chinese from mainland China, we dont think Australia as our enemy but a good friend and a work partner, if Australian and NZ didnt know the U.S. government spend over $300 million each year in a Anti-China programs around the world, and why, would we invade Australia if we can buy your products and resources, i hope we can have peace with Australia and NZ.
    Edit: 谢谢 Paul Keating.

As an Aussie I'm beyond ashamed of the way we are being used by the US.
Sadly I'm old enough to remember the
*Indonesia is going to invade us propaganda, then it was the Japanese are going to buy Australia and take over propaganda, now it's China's turn with the same old lies being fed to us*
It's horrible they have spent a 3rd of our GDP to please Washington and they are not only in needed by Australia, but it's pushing our debt levels to extremes (and magically helping the US because we will be buying US treasury bonds to cover this debt of course). 😡
So mad at our country for letting us get into this position.

Paul Keating is turning out to be the only sane person in Australian political circle. Every politician wants Australia to be US' 51st state. Australia is not really an independent country at the moment. The US is sinking, their banks are all collapsing. Australia's biggest economic partner is China. The reason why Australia is unaffected by 2008 recession and not experiencing what Europe and UK are experiencing right now, is because the money are flowing from China, Indonesia and India. Yet the Australian politicians can't see this; they rather partner with the UK in whose economy is worse than Russia. And US which had reached the debt ceilings. Unbelievable.

Regardless of the wisdom of nuclear submarine deal undertaken by the present Government, when it comes to being “the worst deal in history” Paul Keating needs to look no further that his own incompetence when he was in office.
The ‘failed rock band manager’, seeking to call himself “The world’s greatest treasurer” needed to balance the budget. He did this by selling off the Commonwealth Bank, which robbed future governments of any control over interest rates, and thereby inflation. Initiating the boom-bust that we are enjoying today?
He then went on in 1985, to being instrumental in the ‘Negative Gearing’ legislation, with the naive belief that it would make more housing available, and boost the economy? In fact, by the figures of later reports, it had the very opposite effect, not only did it encourage states to end involvement in social housing, but 90 percent of the speculation investment went into established homes, and not new constructions.
The result was what we have today, with an estimated 150 thousand homeless, and soon to be rising as more homes are foreclosed on, and people are forced onto the streets?
When Paul Keating, now advisor to the CPC, China, talks about the “worst deal in history” he should consider the thousands of families and children his incompetence forced into poverty and ruined lives.? And the stresses that broke so many families apart.
Perhaps he should have an Oscar for the biggest failure in history?
