Boy, what a super great video. Full of information about my favorite brand! I am an Ambassador, and I am very proud of my Makers Mark. Thanks so much for the insight into quality, arrival, taste and aging. It's such a pleasure to learn about how a good bourbon is made!
If you’re ever in Kentucky, the Maker’s Mark distillery is a must-visit. It’s a gorgeous facility, the tour is very informative, and they have a lot of gorgeous art around the campus. At the end of the tour you’re allowed to dip your own bottle in wax.
its great watching ben.. hes learning lots. public speaking becoming a whisky expert and becoming a solid man. horst just lets him go. you can see he struggles a bit but im a novice so i feel like im going through it with him
Makers was the first bourbon I ever had!!! and it got me into bourbons I just really got into the finger and backwash notes that it brought to the table and have not been able to switch to anything other than bourbons since!!!!
29:17 I love that moment when the guy starts to think about the fact that alcohol level has actually gone up from 55% to 56%-57% during maturation, according to the master distiller :D
So the barrels, one is uncharred but left in the elements of the weather for a year while the 47 barrel has been charred and left out for a few weeks? Am I understanding that correctly?
if you look carefully i think he pours it into a sink. the alcohol flow looks quite far back on the right. if i had to guess there's a sink close to the glass
Hey Rusty, nah man! I REALLY want to be SO wrong about what I think I am seeing. After reading your comment, I watched this clip over and over (7:18 to 9:14) after reading your comment - I even projected it @ 1080p on my large screen to really get a good look. It doesn't look like a sink or a bucket is behind that glass, it's going back in the vessel under that white dog flow. Now I really want to know which distilleries this dude has visited - I'm not sure I can do Makers Mark again with this image seared into my brain :) Can't help but wonder if he has fingered the whiskey at all distilleries he's visited? :D **joking .. not joking :(**
100% with you. He def fingered that bourbon, in all its forms. I came to the comments hoping I wasn't the only one questioning the quality control. However, the mash stage turns to the pure distilled liquid....that can clean wounds. His fingering germs will be destroyed.....as they should be. I haven't seen him finger anything from the barrel to bottle stage.....yet
He definitely did and some health dept guy probably blew a gasket, but let’s be honest, it’s being distilled, it’s alcohol, the alcohol will kill any germs, it’s really fine.
These american guys are much better showmen then the scots on theese tours. Still enjoy the scottish master destillers more. That craggy authenticy is just cool.
I love Maker's, but its the only Bourbon that'll give me a guaranteed hangover everytime, no idea why, especially since other much stronger Bourbons (like Knob creek) don't have the same effect. Doesn't matter a damn though, I'll still keep drinking it!
Too bad they don't release their "over aged" bourbon. I'm sure they would actually get some whiskey connoisseur to buy their products. Most hardcore whiskey fans don't care for the regular Maker's flat "lightness" and "sweetness". Regular Maker's is just boring for someone who has spent some time tasting bourbon and whiskey in general.
+forestsandman Elijah Craig 12 yr, Turkey 101, Evan Williams Single Barrel, Buffalo Trace, Knob Creek small batch and SB, Woodford Reserve, anything Four Roses is a good start.
I wonder how global warming will affect the whiskey since there’s no climate control in the warehouses might make it harder to get that profile they are trying to maintain
Makers Mark and Jim Beam sold out to Japan .......bummer .....what happened to tradition .....buy Evan Williams, good bourbon at a good price , they're not too proud of themselves.....USA owned
Lisa Gy so true. The old Heaven Hill Distillery ( Bernheim ) maker of the wonderful Elijah Craig, and Evan Williams makes super fine delicious bourbon and 100% pure USA Kentucky Bourbon.
Lots of good whiskies are owned by large conglomerates. Half the most Scotch Whisky distilleries are either owned by Diageo (England) or Pernod Ricard (France), the same can be said about certain Irish whiskey distillers. None of these companies are changing the recipes, they simply own the name and make a profit. Suntory is no different with Beam.
Sorry, I always love the tour, but Benedict needs to widen his tasting vocabulary. Often times you can tell that he has no idea what to say or what going on when he takes a whiff or sips a dram. Oh yeah, the sleeve really bothered me but not as much as to how he FINGERED everything and put it back!

You'd think in 4 years they would have fixed this video's title by now... Marker's Mark lol.
I really like the distillery guy. I love watching this while drinking Maker's Mark

Fantastic video! Many details about the whisky producion at Maker's Mark. Cheers!

Maker's Mark "Fingered Edition"
damn the quality control here
Yea bro he put his finger in everything. I was thinking who ealse noticed it .
I'm going to give this video the honorary title "Benedikt Puts his Finger in my Drink." Great video. Really enjoying all the tours.
Alcohol kills bacteria. Thats how the distillers and sommeliers try it in all the distilleries since whisky began
It's four years later... the finger bourbon is still 3 years away...
@@RAD6150 ahaaaaaaaaaaaa. Thats great u all are a riot.....God bless everyone
I am a new learner to learn how to taste whisky. Truely enjoy the video which is very helpful.
Keep your fingers out dude.
The secret ingredient of Maker's Mark? German tourists dipping their fingers in it!
makers is a solid bourbon, thanks for the tour!
I can't wait to take a tour of the Maker's Mark Distillery, so I can stick my hand in the vat.
I hauled a load out of here to Chicago. Still one of my best memories of trucking
Thank you very much!! Your video was very helpful for my assignment on alcoholic beverages.
Maker’s Mark is like the In-n-Out of Bourbons, in a good way.
Love makers mark have also had the 46 loved it but really really wish they would make makers mark cask strength available in Australia.
Fantastic video. I really enjoy your distillery tour videos. Thank you.
Ben is like a kid in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, dipping his fingers with his rolled up sleeve in everything and pouring it back, lol.
This mans finger/backwash particles aged for like 5 to 7 years in a charred oak barrel, only to be consumed by some random dude like me. Awesome
This is really a gem of a video, glad I found it!
I'm certain the alcohol kills any bacterial but will you people not allow back wash back in with the white dog? 8:47
29:17 I love that moment when the guy starts to think about the fact that alcohol level has actually gone up from 55% to 56%-57% during maturation, according to the master distiller :D
why didnt they fix his polo sleeve before filming?
Absolutely enjoyed this video. Thank you for your efforts!!
The milling process was a nice detail
So the barrels, one is uncharred but left in the elements of the weather for a year while the 47 barrel has been charred and left out for a few weeks? Am I understanding that correctly?
Good video! I'm not sure about the Hops in Kentucky Straight Bourbon though. I have never heard of this being used before.
Son like father...
Are they filtering it before or after the barrel?
In my opinion Woodford reserve has the best bourbon but Makers Mark is in the most beautiful location of all!
My brother and I toured this beautiful distillery once. They produce some very fine bourbon.
I would love to taste Makers put through the week long cold filtration at Dickel.
Makers is already a light bodied, fresh Bourbon. We surely don' wan't it mellowed out into that Tennessee swill ;)
really love your channel !
Proud of your boy
Did this dude just lick his fingers, dip it in the alcohol, and pour it back?
if you look carefully i think he pours it into a sink. the alcohol flow looks quite far back on the right. if i had to guess there's a sink close to the glass

genius
He not only dubble dip he also pored it back
Makers mark security was passed out that day..
Marky Mark and the funky bunch has a distillery?
Great video!
I guess him sticking his fingers in everything was Markers mark.
So someone is actually getting a bottle of liquor that he put his fingers in...but that's one hell of a bottle of whisky!!! AMERICA
I love Makers Mark
Enjoyed🍸🇺🇸🎅🎄👍
Looks so cold and clinical after dear old Scotland...
At some parts its like the master distiller is helping(guiding) him to what he shoud taste , rather to what he actually taste.
These american guys are much better showmen then the scots on theese tours. Still enjoy the scottish master destillers more. That craggy authenticy is just cool.

What the hell is Markers mark?
It's a pirated bourbon with an extra touch of "arrrr" in it.
Makers mark not marker mark
He sounds Austrian or German... So of course his English isn't on point.

Kevin Pippin i think its actually markers make
stk931 Maker's Mark
Kevin Pippi
It's a great drop bourbon 🥃
Markers mark? Huge typo on the title. For sure fix it.
Wie wäre es mal auf Deutsch 😖 Danke!!!
I don't actually like Makers Mark at all, but their advertising is amazing. Maybe it's the wheat that replaces the rye that I don't like?
Try the Maker Select...........Awesome
Where was his finger before this video? I will never go into a liquor store with same thoughts again only thinking which liquor has been fingered up
16% soft winter weed LOOOOOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sleeve down, mate :-)

What recommendations do you have then for a good bourbon?
+forestsandman Elijah Craig 12 yr, Turkey 101, Evan Williams Single Barrel, Buffalo Trace, Knob Creek small batch and SB, Woodford Reserve, anything Four Roses is a good start.
have you tried makers mark cask strength?
you sound like a gay
He got him drunk and now they're in love ;p
This guy sounds german, are you german?
Yes
I wonder how global warming will affect the whiskey since there’s no climate control in the warehouses might make it harder to get that profile they are trying to maintain
Markers Mark Aardvark Shark
W.O.W.
Not markers,but makers
Makers Mark not Markers Mark🤙🤙🤙😹😹😹
Finger juice in my bourbon, astonishingly disgusting. QC please, Damn…
It's Maker, not Marker, for fuck's sake...
maker46 is better than laphroig only talisker is unbeaten worldwide
doydark4ever laphoaig use used maker mark barrels
I don't think so, Laphroaig is unbeatable.
They are uncomparable. Makers is makers, Laphrosig and Talisker sure, but not bourbon vs. Scotch
Right now I enjoy jw swing
did you even wash your hand before you put your fingernail germs in my drink? that is disgusting. really bad marketing for Makers Mark. Huge mistake.
get over your self.
This brit is awkward af
Brit?! 🤣, you wanna try again bro? 🤣
Makers Mark and Jim Beam sold out to Japan .......bummer .....what happened to tradition .....buy Evan Williams, good bourbon at a good price , they're not too proud of themselves.....USA owned
Yeah - I must agree...Sad that what were once American owned companies are now becoming a 'global economy' via international corp buying them out.

Who cares? It's still good bourbon.
@@lawdogkyle1850 Exactly, very true

NOT FUN TO WATCH, NOTHING INTRESTING BUT I LOVE DRINKING IT.
It's not beer in any way, stop calling it beer!
