I think this is the 5th time I have watched this video.... and I think it is the first time I noticed you do not need glue in each slot at 14:29 always good to learn more
Great video once again. I am anxiously awaiting the video for the making of the sled. One question. Why did you decide for the Cedar wood? Availability, price, workability?
Thanks Rian. The kumikos are usually made by soft woods in Japan. Cedar, Pine, Hinoki, & Fir are the choice of making the kumiko. The soft woods will give much more flexibility during the assemble. However, I'm going to mix with hardwoods for the kumiko pattern. Walnut, Sapele, & Alaskan Yellow Cedar will be used..
Wonderful work and so detailed on your processes. Many thanks for all this effort. Are you still planning on making a 30 degree sled tutorial ?? This would be amazing for us novices.
Thanks. Not sled, but a jig that'll work for all 30,60,45, and 90 degrees on the miter-saw video later this year. It'll be easy enough even for the novice woodworker. Thanks again,
Love the content just find the music very hard to listen to and it’s on lots of your videos. Thumbs up if you think he shouldn’t have music or make it much quieter. Big love for the knowledge your are sharing.
Thanks, I'm going to make a similar joint on Part 10. I'll see if I can describe it better or if not, I'll come back to see if I can explain it better to you.
I got lost with all the flipping and the cutting at the final length. But I'm sure that will become clear when I make one. What is the size of the grid? Also I see the uprights are 15". What is the length of the 30 degree?
Sorry for the late response. The length of 30 ° is about 30" to 32". That should be long enough. I will post more of the detail main frame size on my next video.
Hello can someone please tell me what is the distance between blade and spacer (key) I’m not rly good in inch.. using metrics but I just can’t get it :D sorry
jolie travaille , pouvez vous nous donner les mesures en centimètres plz , chez nous en ne sais pas compter avec le Inch , est un grand merci a toutes l’équipe du club dans je fait partie a partir de se jour. from Algeria
Thanks so much!!! & Welcome to the club. Will give the measurements in metric as well. Metric is actually easier for me too. We use metric in Korea too..
@@WoodArtStudio1 hi, So I would convert the inch to centimeter, it will take me a long time, but it is worth it for such a beautiful artistic work, thank's for accepting me in your Club
You created a great video! A little bit sad that its very hard to understand measures by inches(... Just because so many countries measures everything by millimeters)
For a 1/8" kerf, I use #1 grind by a Forest Blade which is a flat top blade. For the thin kerf, I'm just using regular ATB blade since I can't find the flat top in thin kerf.
@@WoodArtStudio1 Freud makes a 1/8" and 3/32" flat top grind rip blade. Woodcraft carries one and maybe both. I know Amazon has both. Interesting that the 3/32" is much less than the 1/8"
@@jimw544 👍 👌 be sure to watch my next video which will be uploaded in about a week from now. Because I will covering about thin kerf blade and material thickness. Thanks again...
Thanks. I usually lower the volume down to 5%. You might wanna mute the sound. I know it's not pleasing to listen. Not much of choice of noncopy right music...

Great work! And I have a question, how to use the mark you have made for the third cut to set the stop block for the fourth &fifth cut?

@@WoodArtStudio1 Thank you so much.
Don't know if I missed it, but how long are the strips initialy?
The video caption at 3:19 indicates you would be making a video for the sled construction. Was this video published?
Yes, it's in episode 4. You can also refer to the 45° miter sled video as well. Thanks for watching. ^^
so cool!!
👍👍🙌
What types of wood are you using for your frame and inner pieces?
Western red cedar for the grid.
Purple Heart, Padauk, Alaskan Yellow Cedar, Walnut, Sapele, and Maple for the Kumiko. Thanks for watching.🙏🙏👍

so when are you doing the video on the table saw sled
The 60° sled making video is in the middle of the Part 4 video. I also have 45° sled making in my channel.
I presume the saw blade is a 1/8" kerf?
Yes, 1/8" for the mainframe. thin kerf (3/32" or 2.38mm) for the Kumiko pieces, and some 1/16"(1.6mm) blade for the Kumiko pieces from episode 8 or 9.

Just multiply by 2.5cm.
Usual good job.

what blade do you use? A flat bottom rip blade?
