This is exactly what I've done. First trip is the whole month of December. Had enough points to cover entire flight. If it's a go, I can retire in 3yrs. Been appreciating your advice.
My opinion, never buy a home on the Philippines regardless how good the relationship is. Never give someone that upper hand. Especially when it's in their country.
Agree 100%….if you’ve been married to her for several years (at least 10) and being significantly older --are at the point of terminal illness or age … then yeah put a stipulation in your will that a certain amount must be spent on a dwelling or home in her name only after passing. The clause is just as effective (for her benefit) as building it entirely on your risk exposure during your lifetime. #RENT
I made my first solo trip earlier this year with EXACTLY that plan. Stayed for a month to get to know the place and continue my digital nomad work (which IS legal on a tourist visa). No plans to meet anyone or anything in particular. If you don't stay at least 3 weeks, it's not "living", just a vacation. I'm going back end of this year for 2 months and plan to visit a few cities to check out living conditions.
❤🎉 good 👍😊 morning madam God bless you I am also busy my heavy-duty, now not possible journy by the your place, I also like and support your great 😃👍 Philippines for my millions 😍🌹 loves and miss very very thanks 🙏👍
When I was in the Navy, I got to my first squadron on the west coast and our E5s and E6s would joke “Love you long time.” and “Love you no shit.”. I think this would kind of inoculate us youngsters for when we would finally make it to the Philippines. Of course when I made E5 and then E6 I would pass this lesson down to the youngsters in the shop in the same way. I’ve got to admit that on my last 30 day detachment to Cubi Point there was a Filipina that I was forming some real feelings for, but I was 21 and adamant that I would not get married till 25.
One or two weeks vacation is not enough, to start seeing the real Philipines, the trash everywhere and poverty. On a short vacation everything is glamorous, stay for a couple of months, and you will start to get a real feeling of if you would live here. I love staying here, been here for 5 years now ❤
I’m married to a philipina for 18 years. But don’t be stupid these days because most of them just want your money so don’t move or buy a home and keep your eyes wide open
I Love your videos, funny Im scheduled to come over there in Oct. and I told my family, brothers sisters, they starting telling me everything bad about the Phililpines, Everything they said I was able to counter, because I have watched so many videos.
I went twice last year. When I told my friends and family members, they told me I will get murder or kidnap. I feel I m more likely to get shot in socal everyday.
I have been chatting with my Filipina girlfriend for a few months now, and when talking about meeting I told her next year we can plan to meet, and I can take a two week vacation. I've been considering everything you said too about preparing. My only biggest issue is it will be my first time flying period, nevermind flying across the pond. 😬
I have been on 5 short vacations there, stayed there 3 months last winter and I'm still information gathering. This next go I'm doing it for 6 months. I am getting a yes or a no out of myself after this trip.
Yes people have the problem of telling me why I want to go to the Philippines guess what I went for 3 weeks and going back in October for 3 weeks again
@bullfighter42 I was in Manila pasay makati then I flew butuan This time I will be in makati and roxas city going to the Canadian beaver where that TH-camr open a bar there
@bullfighter42 it was not much but it was nice I picked not a good hotel call the grato or something like that but I met up with a girl there I did have a good time but was only there for one day
Thank you Reekay, Always giving great prospective. I’m Almost Convinced but certainly interested to come over for the new 59 day visa stay to assess my alternatives. Get my taxes sorted etc and I’m definitely on my way.
One week ? 2+ days of travel each way (from USA) and airfare for 7 day stay ? I would suggest a 2-4 week+ vacation if one is serious about “testing out” the Philippines or anywhere so distant.
Your discussion about home buying reminded me of a question I have had. Why can't it be written in the pre-nup that any home will have to be sold and the funds returned to each partner in accordance with the percentage they gave to purchase it? Or, if that doesn't work, why can't you sign loan papers to the Filipina for the purchase of the house which allow you to foreclose at will and force it to be sold and the money given to the lender (you)? No angle like that will work in the Philippines?
Reekay, I don’t understand? You mentioned in the video that expats can’t buy houses. In many other videos, I learnt that expats can buy houses/apartments but not land. Expats can only lease land. Please elaborate
when i say, "don't buy a house for a filipina until after 2 years of good marriage", i'm referring to a home w/land, which is typically what expats do. an expat can "pay for" the land and home, but he can only own the home structure, not the land. this is why the home/land is placed in the name of the Filipina on the deed since she is a PH citizen. with a condo, the lease for the land is built into the purchase. you own the condo, but not the land it sits on.
Thank you for great information in your videos ! I have a question ; You say that foreigners cannot own a house here. How about a mobile vacation home ? If I go here, buy the mobile home, lease a lot to put on. And complete it with a solar energy package and drill a deep hole for water. Is that idea possible ? Or does it count as a house ?
love the chanel and content i have a really good and stupid question i have some money butbowe the goverment money and really dont want to pay them if i can make a living from there in asia is this possibakle to libve and stay there ....not finanial advice. just a yes or no is fine please help
well, as i see it there are two challenges with this. the first being that any money you'd earn outside your home country requires a work-visa. frankly, there just isn't any work at a living wage in the PH for any expat, other than highly skilled exceptions. but those are rare. the second issue is the money owed. it it's owed to the irs, after a period (not sure how long) they can refuse to renew your passport. even though you are already abroad, it makes renewing your PH visa impossible and you'd end up on an Overstay status with accruing fines and penalties.
That is a bad idea. You leave yourself no cushion if your flight into Tokyo runs late. You also aren't giving yourself enough time to get out of the plane, move around, stretch your legs, have a meal, get some coffee, enjoy a lounge. 4 hour connection minimum for international, I prefer 6
so if you get the house in her name. Why would you not have a loan repayment plan for foreclosure if you don't stay together? i am sure you could set up with a law firm a c corp and have it hold the home in it to avoid her getting one over on you. true you are keeping in a law firms hands as a way to protect but i trust a lawyer way more then most woman
that's a convoluted way of doing it. but the simpler approach is to wait (as i mentioned in the video) until you have every reason to trust the woman you buying the house for. for her future security. if a man is that unsure about her, it is too early to be buying a house.
I would not purchase anything I do not have title, in my name, ever. If you are not allowed to own land in the Philippines, can you own a condo? If so, I would consider a condo but if I am putting up my hard earned money, that she did nothing to help me acquire, why would I agree to something where I can lose it? If I can rent a place for a few hundred dollars, why purchase?
in the PH, a foreign national (expat) 'can' own a condo or even a 'home', so long as he is leasing the land beneath it. (which he cannot own) bottom-line, don't buy anything you don't want to either lose or get stuck with. and definitely do not buy a home or pay for land for anyone you haven't had at least 2 years of good marriage with.

This man is wise. PLEASE listen to him.
People often talk about 'Will' power. Sometime 'Won't' power is harder.
Immediately buying a girl a house after the 3rd date is crazy!
This is by far the best blog that I have listened to. It is right on the money in every sense of the word.
thanks! i appreciate that.

You can buy condo for yourself as foreigner
@@bullfighter42you can buy one....with some kind of mortage...and know if you breakup...it is hers. If you can do that....then fine.

Are you sitting in a middle of a rooster farm 🙈😅
Yes - the Philippines 😉
It was a pleasure meeting you at Kenny Rogers in Bohol across the ICM Reekay. Keep up the great videos.

Another insightful video. Going against the opinions of others can be tough. I know from experience. Thank you Reekay.

Great topic, as always. Be blessed
The power if yes and no.
Accurate! What road leads to what you want. It’s not about options; this way or that; nope, what road? Say yes to that.
