The Hawaiian skaters were really the first group to make freestyle ice skating a thing. Especially fusing downhill longboarding and sliding

My opinion as somebody who does not even skates, 2, 4 and 5 were a waste of time to watch. Yeah, I may sound harsh, but I literally felt like that

    • @AlpineIceFreestyle
      @AlpineIceFreestyle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi, thanks for your honest opinion, i really appreciate people who do that. But can you explain me why 1 and 3 are good for you and the others are not? I skate since i can walk so it´s hard for me to understand why there is such a big difference between those Videos for you.

@@AlpineIceFreestyleWell, I had to rewatch all of them again to be able to really say what I meant in detail, so...
For me it is VERY important how good the music syncs with the actual video. It captivates me so much. With a good song in the background even with only noob moves in the video and I would be happy. (Yeah, I love music and everything has to rely on music, lol)
Number 5 is a presentation of an event(yes it is not the only one in your list, but this was the most boring one to me). They presented their way towards the main event, some noobish moves(I call them noobish because they are pretty beginner friendly. Of course I can't do them I only know how to walk and run on skates) then they dish out to more intense moves. I think if you make some kind of presentation, reminder or commercial you need to have a big impact onto the audience. I would have preffered some kind of story to slightly charm me into the atmosphere that was there, to feel that "Yes! I would love to be there! That's Heaven on Earth!". Instead it was a: cut this scene, put it here... I sincerely don't understand why they had that specific order of showing moves or stuff they did there, which to me seemed out of place. The music was doing her job and the video was playing what he wanted. It seemed out of place. Again, I don't really know how hard some of those moves/tricks actually are, and maybe they had a reason to put them in that order.
Number 4 also seemed like a mess... I don't know how you call all those parts in music to literally explain it, but he was using a scene 5 earlier than where I would have put it to feel the music. When the music was shaking, sliding, vibrating we were watching somebody jump over 4 people. It didn't really add to the feeling. The video editing was impressive. He used more professional features, but I don't feel like he really combined them that well. A few more things about this one... Why were they switching locations so much? When in that arranged rink, when in the middle of the lake, then I think there was another lake... Why was a guy throwing an ice block presented in a Freestyle Ice Skating video? (he could have appeared actually, if it was with a BOOM)
      > What I would have liked from this video would have been to follow individuals. I don't really get it how many of them there are, but since they even changed locations that much... I think there were about 10-20 at max. And you can make a video presenting those individuals with their exceptional skills. What I mean by follow is: a good cameraman skating behind the individual, focusing only on one person(this is very hard to do it right. You can easily follow somebody, but to catch the exact angles...) then switching to another person, etc.
      >What I learned from this video was that they showed us a group of ice skating enthusiasts without concentrating to individual performance, but overall activity
Number 3, oh man, makes me cry. Tears of joy of course. The first 1 minute is so brilliant! It doesn't even compare to anything on the list. Then starts a bit of out of sync, then it syncs again, it's like the editor was playing when he made it. I literally think he was laughing when he made them. It is the imperfection that makes perfection even better. One of the things that the guy who edited this was spliting the frames to match the music. And that really made it a bit awkward... I was in such a good mood in the first 2 minutes and then he had about 2 or 3 places where he could have frozen the video, splash it, split it in frames... I don't know, something to fill the emptiness in my soul... (afterimages would have wrecked this video to pieces! If he would have mastered them... then I would have burned here). One funny thing: there were so many moments when the lyrics were "When we collide" and he did not use the 4 man collide in the video, instead it was "wasted" on something not with as much impact.
      > The colors!! It is so easy to make a good video if you stick to black and white. It is easy to bring things forward, send others to the back, highlight something, hide other things... This is one of the worst things that video number 5 had. Instead of giving me freedom I felt stuck in a cage.
      > And to top it off, they focused onto the individuals. It's not always 30 people on screen, it's mostly 1 person, the one you HAVE to watch.
Number 2... Ufff... Feels bad, almost liked it. The beginning 10/10. Afterwards... as soon as the song takes the turn the editor as well. He doesn't care about editing. If the editor on No.3 and this one edited this video and they would work together, then this would have been great, but I literally feel like the editor did not care. It's like he was paid to do 4-5 things this entire video and he did them fast and not always at the best. Liked the lights, they were awesome. Liked individual moves. Camera could have been better, it felt too steady like I was looking at someone, of course you can't really get into what happened there if you are literally following a standing camera... Yeah, I see you move, but I want to move as well... Of course, the setup was different than the others, I don't think they had as much mobility, but you still have to do something about it. At least try!
Number 1. Music... at the bottom. But sincerely I did not care. This video is completely different than the other ones. This is to show you what you can do with Freestyle. To open your mind. It shows you individual skills at it's finest. I was glued to his moves, it was great! At the beginning I was a bit... "meh, the song ain't that great", but when he started showing off... I didn't even hear the music. I was too obsessed to watch his movements.
      >> I think there were other factors as well that influenced me on choosing things. Like, No.4 and No.5 I was expecting to have some really good editing. Instead I saw some flaws(flaws only for me, maybe) which killed my interest. So it means it was how you presented them. I was having some expectations and they did not get fulfilled. This is what made No.1 great. I was expecting technique, I got absorbed by it!
      >> It is 3 AM here... Took me one hour for this... I know, I am not the greatest at expressing myself. I am romanian and I struggled a bit with english, especially since it's this late. Sorry for any mistakes and maybe misunderstandings as well. I will try to explain them, if needed.
      >> Some time ago, maybe half a year, I saw a video, Old Man Ice Skating Prank by Adam Nadas. I sincerely don't know if that is also called freestyle(I consider it being freestyle). It was great. The music was nice, the idea brilliant, execution as well, it was so well done that I had to love it. This is how I got a little interested in Ice Skating right now and searched for some videos. Then got here to this video.
How I would list them, from not that great to brilliant ones:
      5. Nothing can beat Vienna
      4. UNITEDS & SHIFT - Événement Patinage Freestyle. Cléon
      3. Freestyle Ice Skating 3
      2. Freestyle is Beautiful
      1. Ice Freestylers Meeting - Budapest
Well, good luck, if you read this far, then... thank you for listening!

@@vox43 Ok, wow. I didn´t expect an answer, normally such comments are made by haters but you are the complete opposite. Again, thanks for your honest opinion, thanks for your time - just great that you put in so much effort, i will do my best to answer it Right.
Lets start with the list: as you can see at 0:40: the Videos are not ranked or in a specific order, just 5 Videos i want to Show to the People. Our community is small so we all know each other so i would not rank my Friends ;-) But how you rank them and why is a Pretty interesting Thing.
Let´s continue with your list: Budapest is made by a professional film maker, he is 19 now - a great guy and a good friend ;-)
Freestyle is Beautiful is made by the most passionate guy ever in this Sport and he still doesn´t understand why everybody likes this Video so much, but i will Show him your comment ;-)
Freestyle Ice Skating 3 is made by a Computer programmer who does this with a lot of Passion and is also a guy who loves to Play with editing, for me his Videos are just perfect but the People are different, Maybe you like his ,,Freestyle Ice Skating 4´´ more.
About the French Video i dont know that much, today the Team is called Knockout Crew and they concentrate on Freestyle battles, but i really loved this Video because it motivated me years ago so it came into my list.
Vienna is different, it´s the only Video where the Editor didnt even film a single shot of the Video. The guys who are Skating dont know a lot About editing and filming, they took a camera with them, filmed their Holiday in vienna, than went home and gave the footage to their Editor - a guy who is not Skating that often and is About 65 years old. I think he did it good. Jep the intro is too Long for me but the main part with the Music - i just love it. jes it is just a compilation of the best Scenes but he made the very best out of it.
Jep the Video from Adam Nadas is great, thats why i went viral, there is a part 2 also in Budapest. Adam is mainly a figure skater but he does all Kinds of tricks on the ice. And he is also the guy who does the backflip in Freestyle ice Skating 3 ;-)
it´s Pretty interesting how you feel and understand the Videos, and it´s really hard to satisfy you. I´m not sure if i really want you to watch my Videos :-D i think i will never be able to satisfy you. i think i´m not that good as the others are but lets give it a try. I would be pleased to get your opinion to this Video: th-cam.com/video/QUGJV00_pOI/w-d-xo.html
Finally i have to say: Nobody of us is a pro, we all do what we have fun with and hope to entertain the People a bit with that. So i appreciate your honest opinion but dont be too cruel to us ;-)
Have a nice day, greetings from Bavaria. Patrick

@@AlpineIceFreestyle Ok, wow. As you said, not expecting an answer... The same was for me. It is completely another thing when you hear the story behind those videos. Like the Vienna one I was harsh on it because I thought it was something kind of professionally done. But if it's made by the community, then that is very nice! I did not knew that Adam was in Freestyle Ice Skating 3, thanks for telling me.
The video you sent me. Wow, I love it! It is so nice, I smiled through it all. It really shows the passion and love for ice skating! Thanks for sending it to me, it was a pleasure to watch it.
