- Hey my lovelies! So the method of paper binding that I was speaking about, which also helps the hobonichi lay flat, is called ito-kagari. Details about the binding can be found on the hobonichi interview below. You can use google translate on chrome to read

Each sewn section is called a signature💜
Thank you!!! I knew it was called something significant 💜
Thanks for your method…I’ve been thinking the same with my cousin to transfer to rings. Happy journaling 🙃👍
I took one apart with an x-acto knife and it didn’t come out nearly as neatly as that - thanks for showing me that method. I covered up my messy spines with washi tape: tomoe river on its own is a little thin for discbound punching but I love writing on it! Next time I take one apart it’ll definitely be like this 😊
I totally agree, I’ve had to sacrifice some paper to get this method perfected 🥲
Thank you for showing this! I'll start doing it the same way. ❤
You are welcome!!
Love the tip! I might try it with one of mine as well.
Just wondering, how do you plan to use those removed pages?
Thank you so much for watching! I would basically use them for whatever I feel like at that time. I have a ring binder that I will move the pages to after I’ve hole punched them. I think for the most part, the blank pages, are gonna be my random deep dives of manga that I read and for the pages that have the Japanese writing on, I’ll just use them for watercolor sketches 😊
