Bought a stock HT Chisel Comp last spring and thought it could do with a dropper post - now I know why I intuitively thought of that 👌 - and with climbing, the seat tube angle is pretty much perfect to me. And agree with the XC-gravel bike use/position.
Agee that 73 ish angles for short travel ht seem to work best for flatter longer rides. Tried a Nimble 9 with 140mm pike, and my hands wrists and shoulders were just killimg me after about and hour to1.5 hours. Tried longer stems, shorter ones, higher spacer stacks, no spacers slammed bars, still uncomfortable. Next frame was RItchey Ultra. 120mm Reba, 73,5st angle and it;s a gret all day downcountry/trail/xc postion.
Appreciate the comment! Given that your experience (which coincides with mine) is pretty common, I just always find it so interesting to think about riders who are doing really long distance events (thinking bikepacking races and the like), while using super steep seat tube angles. I’ve listened to interviews with Lachlan Morton, who definitely fits that description, and it sounds like a big part of his process is just constant change and experimentation, which in some ways seems to fly in the face of traditional bike fit wisdom, but even with constant change, I always struggle to understand how he manages those positions over long distances! Anyway, I love this subject, and appreciate hearing your experience:)
Loving the Chisel content
Thanks! There’s more to come:)

Glad you got something out of the video! Thanks for your comment:)
What is your post length, any thoughts on the bar height? Better to go for a higher rise bar set up for comfort on long rides?
