    • Padum to Lamayuru via ...
The road from Padum to Lamayuru is approximately 210 kilometers in length. It passes through the remote villages of Lingshed and Photoksar and two high-altitude passes, Singe La and Sirsir La.
The condition of the road is good for only about 50 kilometers in total. The remaining 160 kilometers are completely offroading and it can take you an entire day to complete the journey.
We started from Padum at 9 am and arrived at our hotel in Lamyuru by 7.30 pm.

18:18, thank you for keeping me sane. Yes, they are scary indeed. I thought I was the only one. 2 weeks back did this trip but I underestimated the time from Padum to Leh and unfortunately traversed the whole route at night. It was a totally different experience.

    Hi Vargis,
Firstly, I find your blogs very helpful and always check them before planning a trip to Kashmir & Ladakh since 2012/13. Really informative and engaging.
As for the question (and I am asking it in the mail as I could not find much information on your site/youtube channel).
We are planning road trip from Delhi to Zanskar (and back) in May/Jun and have following questions:
    1. We plan to enter via Lamayuru-Wanla-SirsirLa-SingeLa-Lingshed-Padum (same route as you followed but in opposite direction); and exit via Padum-Purne-ShinkuLa-Darcha-Jispa.
    2. Or is it better to go the other way round (enter via Darcha-ShinkuLa and exit via Lingshed-Lamayuru)? For e.g. in your vlog and blog, you mentioned that Linghsed route has steep inclines especially till SingeLa. But how about the declines (which would be inclines if someone is coming from the opposite direction)?
    3. We have an AWD SUV but another group with 2WD SUV wants to join. How difficult would it be in a 2WD in that season? I know it comes down to driver skill but just needed your input.
    4. If Padum-Darcha section is not possible (due to any reason), I would probably plan Kargil-Rangdum-Padum-Lingshed-Lamayuru (same as you did it), but more inclined towards the first 2 options.
    5. Could not see anything on Darcha-ShinkuLa-Padum route on your vlog/Blogs. Have you not covered it? or did I miss it?

    • @VargisKhan
      @VargisKhan  ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Vikas - Thank you for your kind words.
      1. It is doable
      2. The incline to Single La is a bit more difficult from Padum side. It will be comparatively easier from the Lamayuru side. But on the other hand, the incline to Shinku La is difficult from Padum and easier on Darcha side. So you will have to take your pick.
      3. The group in front of me was in a Brezza and they were able to cross the passes successfully so it is doable in a 2WD as well.
      4. It will definitely be open by early June
      5. I did cross Shinku La as well. Drove up the pass from both Darcha and Jispa sides. Still working on that video and will post soon

    • @VargisKhan

Zanskar is bad roads so the trip will definitely not be a comfortable one. Kargil to Padum route is the best way to reach
