Actual description: This is footage from Nov 2020 that has been re edited. I went out riding in -10 C (14F) in a snowstorm, on my Jet Ski.
Geez bud, I feel like I'm watching Jack London on a jetski. I feel like the story "to start a fire" specifically, although that's just off the top of my head so maybe that's not what it's called. Jet skiing in freezing conditions all alone, everything's freezing up, even when you're out of the water you're not quote out of the woods. Spoiler alert: I'm glad it worked out better for you! I'm sorry to hear you're going through a tough spot. I hope things go well for you, let me know if I can do anything to help. Love you bud, which is also what made the ice jet skiing more scary.
I knew the name Jack London, but honestly I had to look it up to refresh my memory... Like a leaky sieve. Maybe it's mush from being frozen... Still, I appreciate the sentiment, haha !
Thanks for the kind words ! We will get through this, right. Yeah, you don't want to see those you care about getting hurt... I did take a LOT of precautions that weren't obvious in the video, but was still was a little reckless.

Your channel is the main driving force that made me confident enough two years ago that I could handle the hull repairs on my X2, of which was my first jetski ever.. finally got it to the paint booth about a week ago.

Hey! Thanks for the comment. Life tossed me some obstacles to navigate and I haven't had time for jetski stuff... but I'm hoping that things will turn around in the next year or so. I've got lots of stuff I want to do... just need time to do them.

I have a silly suggestion for you that won’t be useful at all…….. in the video you are having problems with your throttle freezing up now to avoid this you might try riding in salt water. And that will help you because salt water freezes at a colder temperature 😮😂 also it makes a wonderful salt based lubricant for said throttle. Your welcome 😂😂😉

Yeah... as you know, this has been a while in the making, and at least now I know approximately when it is happening. Things might suck for a while before they get better, but they will get better. I don't think the US lets degenerates like me across the border... especially after that last episode 🤣
With your knowledge on Park Heaters why on earth don't you have one in the truck cab. DUDE!! Come on in temperatures like that have a back up plan, even a buddy heater. Oh ya, a split up? Sad news, I'm joining your Patreon club.
This footage is from a few years back. I didn't know parking heaters existed, at the time.
I didn't make it clear in this video, but I did have a few back up plans. I had a backpack with sealed, dry cloths, stuff to start a fire, a generator in the back of my truck with an electric blanket, a battery charger for my truck and phone.
As cold and reckless as this was, it seemed a lot worse. I had 7mm of neoprene covering me, as I was wearing two wetsuits, I had a 5mm hood and 5mm gloves. Even in the water, I wasn't cold and I had tested the suit weeks before to ensure I would be okay spending a lot of time in the water.
Yeah. The split up has been a while coming. I am currently talking to a mortgage broker (just sent another email), and I should be able to afford to keep my house, though the mortgage will be more than 5x what I am currently paying. The whole this is sad and unfortunate... and Quasar, my cat, will be going with her, so that sucks as well.

Hello Mom ! Love you 😁. Still that same little boy, but sometimes my sense of adventure pushes me to be uncomfortable. I always tell people "I don't like the cold, or being wet, and especially don't like being cold and wet, so jet skiing is an odd choice ! "
Truth be told, with good equipment, my face was cold and my fingers, if my gloves were off, but a neoprene wetsuit, that fits properly, goes a long way to staying warm.
This is just one of those only Joel things! It was pretty cool but dang that was savage. What you get in Alberta is no joke! It froze for a week here and the day it thawed I knew I probably had broken pipes going home from work, but I decided to buy a rare jet ski on the way home because ??? I got home and had some nice water spraying all over my pos house, but I got a Laserjet f15 thunderjet hull. Pretty cool looking and has a solar panel on the pole.
If you loose your house and need me to hang onto some stuff, I do have a decent size but crappy garage now. I know when you have a certain situation having stuff is really difficult. Hope you get a good situation out of this.
I just found this channel called the unnamed project. This guy is building the brp engine krash copied and he is not messing around. You need to check it out! If you want real power you do what he's doing.

Yeah my house is junk so it doesn't really matter.

Hey...Just responded to you on Patreon. Unfortunately, I have not been able to put hands on a jetski at all since last fall. This is definitely the longest I've been away from my projects in years... it sucks.
I'm taking on life, full throttle, and hoping for the best. Things look like they could possibly sort themselves out over the next few months, but that means we are back into the winter. If things go really well, I'd like to try to get Jacob's engine built over the winter, but I kinda feel like that is foolishly optimistic.
What are the boots you use for riding in these conditions? I haven't ridden in that cold, but pretty cold. I mean snows falling but not sticking. Hoping you're doing well now, really enjoy your content.
Thanks for the comment. I use a cheap set of NeoSport 5mm booties from amazon and make sure to tuck them into my wetsuit.

Hey Tim! I feel pretty bad about my disappearance, and I'm glad I KINDA made a video explaining why.
I have been working on a video on and off for two weeks now (for my other channel) showing some of why I have been absent. Basically, house renovations, while working a full time job.
At the beginning of August I had a few friends move in with me. It was a mad rush trying to prepare to prepare things in advance, and now that I have 3 people two more cats and two dogs living with me, I am picking away at projects as time permits.
I'm not homeless, I was able to keep my skis, tools garage etc... so I can't really complain. I'm not sure when videos will return... I'm hoping to build a 1100 triple for Jacob this winter if things go well. Hope you are well!

Right on Joel, good to hear from you! Glad to hear you have some roommates so you are not alone and especially because I'm sure that helps financially! I hope I'm not prying to much, but do you own or rent? I was under the assumption you had a mortgage on your home and if so, sounds like you didn't have to lose it which is HUGE. Anyway, don't stress about your video posting, I don't know why but for a second I started to get concerned that you were ok! You are do no worries man, post when you finally can! I don't know about your other viewers buy I can say I won't be going anywhere and look forward when you finally do. You are no dumb person and it sounds like moving through what is one of life's most difficult hurdles, I think things will only get better and better for you from here. Peace brother!
@@AtimatikArmy I "own" / pay a mortgage. Megan and I had a mortgage on it, and I had to buy her out and refinance. As a result, my payments went up 5x what they were before. Not losing it was a pretty big deal... and that's why I stepped away from YT for a while, because I have to take this seriously.
Yeah, my videos will come when I have the ability to post them. I haven't even had time recently to watch videos, let alone post them.... but that's good... getting lots done.
@@JoelArseneaultTH-cam Good for you. I had to do the same thing to save my home. The difference was mine was a nasty divorce with a true to definition narcissist! Luckily, no kids involved although late in life I have an awesome 14 month year old boy with a much younger new girlfriend. Karma came back around for me, thank you God.
