The freedoms and rights you speak of come from socialism not capitalism. The USA like most countries is a mixed economy part capitalist and part socialist. A prerequisite of socialist is democracy, if there is no democracy if people are not free to make threw own decision then definitional it is not socialism. Although you can have democracy under a capitalist system it is not a requirement of capitalism. Under capitalism one person could theoraticaly own everything and everyone else is employed. Yes. I have told people about dictatorship and how bad it is and some people here don't believe me. They think socialism is the best thing it can happen to this country, they are so ignorant. I believe all those who wants socialism should go live in a country that has socialism
You can't have a dictator under socialism. Socialism means everyone or at least many people at all levels of society are involved in the decision making process which is the opposite of a dictator. Dictatorships have state capitalism not socialism. For clarity, capitalism is the private ownership and control of the means of production, for profit. Whilst, socialism is the public or community ownership and control of the means of production. Community ownership is not state ownership unless everyone in the community is involved in the decision making process. If everyone is employed by the state but the state is effectively under the control of a small group of people similar to a business that that is state capitalism.

Sooooo, what is the point of trying to tear Yeonmi down? Do you think North Korea is “fine”? I’m married to a North Korean and know a number of her NK friends. Nothing Yeonmi says is out of the ordinary for NK and her analogies to what could happen to the US, given the current political landscape are completely valid. As for Yeonmi’s support for Israel, good on her, she’s far smarter than you if you even have to ask why.
As someone born in Cold-war era Poland, I never know whether I should be angry or laughing at young people telling me "Ha, but it WASN'T real socialism/communism!"
First anger, then compassion for their ignorance. Plead with them to learn about the good AND the bad parts of socialism. All these kids know about is Denmark and the Netherlands, American education has completely washed all traces of the truth about the human cost of attempting equity/socialism. I had to seek this onfo out on my own in my 30s.
Not sure how your being born then/there supports/refutes the claim that it was/wasn't real socialism/communism. Are you saying "my life sucked, therefore it wasn't a generic totalitarian oligarchy wrapped in meaningless jargon about some random utopia"?

Man, it's so nice when a kid born so far away from one of the most brutal dictatorships in the world looks into the eyes of a survivor and says "yeah, you're lying". Yeonmi Park, Konstantin Kisin, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, these people are not guessing what's happening in some of the darkest places in the world by what they've heard from their teachers, they freaking lived through it. But hey, your communist teacher born in New York City with a master's from a big university don't like the fact that his pet ideology breeds horror, so the people who actually lived under that opression have to be lying. I'll tell you what, instead of going to an YAF event to hear Yeonmi share her story, why don't he uses that money to fly into North Korea and actually live there for a whole year, see by himself if she's lying? Because it's hard to keep up with your own bullshit when you actually have to live through it, and that's something they just won't do.

@@boataxe4605 I agree that greed is a problem, but there's more to wealth management than most people realize. First of all, a person's net worth is not merely the size of their bank account. Bad business decisions will tank even the most successful brands. The point here is that not all who inherit wealth will be able to maintain it. There is skill involved. Criticize their use of that wealth as you please, but don't begrudge them of it. As for the little guys who are barely getting by, that's what the system needs to be refined for. Jesus asked the rich to give to the poor, asked people not to chase wealth & riches, was against materialism, was against wars, and he would not approve of capitalism.....
There is a difference between personal responsibilities and ethics and government responsibilities. Interestingly enough, Jesus wasn't upending any political systems (though His followers at the time would have been more than happy if He would have, they weren't fans of Rome). Capitalism makes it possible (though not essential) for people to voluntarily share their wealth, as many rich people have. The difference between socialism/communism and capitalism is in one system, the wealth is forcefully taken and redistributed, in the other, the owner of the wealth decides who they are going to help. Capitalism is an excellent system for a moral society, but when people are not moral, they can use their wealth for terrible things. It's not a system problem (with capitalism) it's a human nature problem. Which, by the way, is the entire reason why Jesus had to come - to save us from our own sin. People are sinful.Capitalistic or not. But as for Jesus being against capitalism. . .🤔 The Bible also says that if a man doesn't work, he shouldn't eat. So, no free distribution of wealth there.
