Guys if you have any questions about cats Let me know. I've been fostering cats since 2005 when I lived in CA, but I'm retired and going to be 70 in October, & the body has warn-out. My back (I'm waiting for an MRI on Thursday) and now my rt shoulder ( I snapped my Type 3 AC separation with disruption of the coracoclavicular ligament repair that was repaired 3 times and last done in 2005) are causing more pain & pain & more Pain! BTWw I use two litter robots for my guys. I may have to get a third one.

Love you guys and your show. Yes, RV park rates are going up and up and pretty darn fast. I've lived in my 38' fifth wheel for 6 years and back then, I moved in to the "resort" - ha - at a rate of $400/month. It is now $900/month and the owner said he will raise the rent every 5 months until he reaches $1200/month. He owns several other parks in California that already are paying that outrageous amount and he is determined Nevada will do the same. I've done a lot of research on Western parks and they are all pretty much at the $1000 mark. To park your RV and have electric (which you pay for separately from the rent), water, and sewer. I just don't get that kind of greed. Pretty much doesn't matter where you are - - the greed monsters are going to get cha. Real estate costs are also sky high so RV park owners know residents won't be leaving to buy houses. What a mess this country is in.

That's why the myth of being a "slave" to a mortgage is so wrong. We paid our place off 3 years ago and we no longer have property taxes because of the senior citizen exemption.
I never had king crab or expensive steaks until the mortgage was paid off, and yesterday we had both. We are investing money like crazy. If this is slavery, then I sure like slavery.

Full timers coming up on Year 4…I would add that everything is Just a little bit harder. What do I mean? Planning ahead to get your mail…if it’s late, will you still be in the right spot? Amazon packages…many cgs don’t allow deliveries, and lockers are often full or too small. Grocery shopping takes longer because you don’t know the layout of each new store. The list goes on…haircuts, routine oil changes, etc, etc…it all takes a monumental amount of planning. The lifestyle you had as a part time RVer, when you were all about decorating your campsite and having great evening fires…that kind of falls by the wayside. We rarely have a campfire and only bother to pull out all the “stuff” if we’re staying a while. All that said, our life is anything but boring, and we’ll do it as long as we’re healthy.

10:40 You made me laugh when you said "pop your hood and someone will come running." I've told friends that I don't worry about RV problems because if I pop open the hood in an RV park, 3 guys with toolboxes will show up to help. I keep snacks and drinks handy so I can say thanks. Thank you for sharing honestly about the challenges of RV life. All life has challenges but I find RV living and the wonderful places and people I've seen in the past 5 years are worth the expense and the headaches of RV repairs.

A downside for me is that my husband doesn’t love it as much as I do. We love each other so he will go (not always happily) so I feel full time won’t ever be in the cards for us. Maybe when the kids get older and move out. He does admit it’s easier when it’s just him and I (no kids or dogs)

Love Brady's stretch at the beginning of the video. He looks so relaxed.
Being in such close quarters can be stressful on a relationship. You and Dave should be OK but hope you two don't tick off Bailey and Brady. They may leave you somewhere. If I see an Ekko being driven by a cat I'll send a search party! 😂

With year round living I suspect you would really have to be on top of your game with the meals planning. I am amazed what Tanya comes up with. Oxtail stew! I became concerned when I read the title of this video. Once I grasped the format of this video, I was relieved, and again as it went on to learn that nothing really awful had happened to either of you. You spoke on some good topics and offered good advice. I enjoyed the video, as always. I'd like to share some advice for you and anyone else reading this.
    1
I can agree that even just glamping in an RV will test relationships. Our first RV was a motorhome, a budget orientated buy for a used 35' class A, powered by a gas engine. It was a beautiful coach, but it didn't have any slide outs. The two of us and our sizable dog were constantly squeezing past and bumping into each other. After a couple of years of that, I decided that we needed a bigger coach. And having more money by that time, we bought a used 39' class A diesel pusher that had what was called a, super-slide, that being a single 18' long slide out. I can't tell you the happy, happy, difference that coach had made for all three of us. Not just the slide but more storage than we could fill, and for driving ease of the diesel pusher being on a big heavy-duty Freightliner chassis.
My point here is two-fold, one being that given the size of the EKKO along with full-timing, you two truly, truly, love each other. And two, though some people think that a big class A is overkill, they don't understand that there isn't any replacement for good substantial equipment.
    2
It's good to develop an understanding that other than the near million dollar and up tour buses, almost all camping or land travel RVs are built under two grades, light-duty and medium-duty. Both of our coaches were medium-duty and the owner's manuals actually stated that. A clear statement to the effect of,
"This coach was built as a medium-duty unit intended for temporary usage. It was not built to be a permanent dwelling and it should be understood that using this coach as a permanent dwelling will result in noticeable wear on upholstered surfaces, carpeting, as well as other wearable fixtures and items throughout the coach."
My point here is that when full-timing, just about everything of most RVs will be subject to wear and some things will wear out requiring replacement. And not to become upset about it. Just expect things will wear and some will be consumed, but don't let these things consume you. Don't allow this to frustrate and take more out of you than being, somewhat of an annoyance.
    3
A side note to the above. For myself, what I hate the most is any leak, plumbing, roof, engine, any leak. Since you're newer to having a coach, Dave and Tanya, some of the best advice I can offer is the importance of-- once a year go on the roof with a tube of caulking and wherever you see caulking on the roof, check it. Because over the course of a year small cracking or sliver sized splits will occur in the caulking that's up there, and these cracks and splits have to be filled with more caulking. It's easy to do, just don't forget that you're working on the roof. Check the owner's manual, for the type of roof material on your RV, what to use as a pre-cleaner, what kind of caulking, like that.
    4
No matter how much of an annoyance, everyone should get under their RV and find the location(s) that mice are using to get inside the unit. The more time an RV sits idle the more likely mice will get in. This is important due to illness from their droppings, and damage they can cause, sometime expensive damage. Under the RV you might have to really put your head to figuring out where they get in. It might even require determining pathways they use through the underside of the coach, sometimes ductwork for heating and at times overhead ducts for a/c.
Dryer sheets, Irish Spring soap and other things people suggest don't always work. It's dependent upon the type of mice in the area. Cats are great but there's something more important here too. That being any space big enough for mice to get through could also be a potential inlet for carbon monoxide if you have a motorhome. I suggest before crawling under the coach, close up the coach tightly, windows, roof vents, etcetera. Don't start the engine, but turn on the ignition, and set the cab (truck part) climate control to high fan and set to incoming (fresh) air, not recirculate. Then go under the coach and find where air from the climate control is coming out beneath the coach. And that would be your starting point or if you're lucky, your only point. There shouldn't be air coming out of anywhere under the coach. If you block and air leak, rerun the same test and check the underside again for other places air is coming out from. As far as I know none of the manufacturers are installing flow-through ventilation, like a car. With the exception of class B and class C motorhomes, as they will have flow-through ventilation from the manufacturer in the truck portion, and you'll have to block off those vents with tape before you do the underside test for air coming out.
    5
This is off subject but extremely important. The best safety advice I can give anyone is also something easily forgotten and can be deadly. Whenever you're about to depart on a journey, take the sink covers and put them into a secure drawer preferably near the floor. Sink covers are heavy, and they don't fasten-in or lock-down in any way. If you were in a collision, particularly a frontal collision, they have the ability to launch, fly, and kill you with a hit to your head or other vulnerable area of your body. Don't chance that happening. Write a note and attach it to the steering wheel. Sink covers are great for expanding counter space and as cutting boards so most people have them out all the time but understand that they have no business being left in place on the sink or even left out somewhere, when you're underway. Due to their weight, I store them in a secure place like a drawer nearest the floor.
As well, look for other things in your coach that have the ability to become a lethal projectile. A dangerous thing doesn't necessarily have to be heavy, just have the ability. I remember in seventh grade science class my teacher showing us how he could penetrate a raw potato with paper straw. I also remember other kids would throw a penny or an aspirin and how much that hurt when it hit my head. Love you guys so pleeeze implement my advice on sink covers. And God bless both of you and the babies. Thank you so much for what you bring.

We just got back to Colorado from Texas. We were in Victoria texas for about 6 weeks. 400.00 per month with utilities on top of that. Coleto lake rv resort. Nice little place with The Cracked Crab restaurant a short walk away. Deer everywhere. Nice people. Colorado where we are from, I have not seen a campground much under 1200.00 per month. We usually stay at military bases and even their campgrounds can get pricey.

There has definitely been a raise in rates. Some at least double. So.... we'll be boondocking more, and using the generator. Also will search for govt parks with some hookup as we have the senior passes will help. I think the COVID RV boom is a part of it, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a drop in price though probably not to previous levels since so many have stopped RVing now that they can fly again, or use a motel.
Something else rarely mentioned is length. Not only do some states have width or length traffic laws- parks can too. Some are limited to 18' or 22' and other lengths so you need to check on any parks you want to stay in for limits and consider buying something that will allow you into the parks you want to stay in.
Full timing though- you need to get what will work for you to be happy in. Remembering though traveling is a part of it and backing up and other maneuvers can be stressful, you aren't doing that most of the time. Most of the time it's likely parked in a site or home, or driving forward on a road. Parking is really a small part, but stressful. Some people let it stop them altogether.

I have been living the retired life in Thailand for 17 years. It is a very simple life and yet an adventure. We have a house and the utilities and food are not expensive. Renting might be best for the beginner.

Yes, we’ve noticed yet we spend a lot of time in Gilroy California to visit our children as we live in Fresno California and we thought about possibly becoming trailerites again and getting closer to them as they are all grown now and so are our grandchildren but when we lived in this park at one time for a few months we paid I believe it was $900 a month because it has gone up to $1300 a month that does not include utilities. We were told it’s because more people are living in their RVs then back in the day and in California who can afford to live anywhere else it’s tough for a lot of people so we decided to stay in Fresno and visit our children as much as possible, and just pay for a few nights at a time.

Thanks so much Nanette for sharing your RV living experiences, we are sorry to hear about the significant monthly price increase at your prior RV park. We still try to take advantage of monthly rates whenever possible if we are going to be staying for a while, because nightly rates at RV resorts can really cost a lot!

I really appreciate your honesty on the pitfalls of full time RV life. I'm contemplating selling my home and buying a RV to travel across country to be closer to family. I'm trying to do my research to make sure I know what I'm getting into. I also have cats which is a HUGE part of making a decision. God bless and safe travels.

Great things to know. Especially for first timers that doesn't know a lot about the maintenance of a RV like to make sure that things are working right and on moving days that everything is put away and secure before you move. The Kitty's got it easy they can just lay around and watch you secure everything and I can amagine watch you guys go nuts getting in each other's way LoL. But stay safe, love and prayers always.

Yea, call the service provider and you can get it in but they will keep your rig for month. The mfg needs to take notice the push these less than satisfactory product out to the dealers and the dealers are happy because they get the warranty work. Everyone I talk to in a rig 2020 to 2021 talks about being in for service all the time.

Yes RV camp sites are going up like everything else. So what I’ve started doing is camping two or three days without paying or paying very little in a state or federal campground then go one day or two days in a place that has electric and sewer. It really saves a lot of money On your budget.

Aussia of Panda Monium RV purchased a land lot in Arizona that she shares with her tribe of RVers. On this land is a derelict RV that may be used as guest housing. I think if I were a full-time RVer, I'd purchase land like they did and add in water and electricity plug-ins. It's a safe place to go during an emergency (like Covid-19), and I could, like AirBnB lease empty spaces while I'm on the road (passive income).

A first time viewer. I really liked hearing the lady. I can recognize that she has a high IQ and has a lot of KSA (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities). An unusual personality at the BOYT. I can see how your channel does so well. I have a Black lady friend who now works as a high end appliance repair ("sealed systems") person. She is also a corporate refugee that is in a non-traditional field right now. She is also brilliant. Nearly every day, she gives me advice steeped in her life of learning experiences.

Tidy Cats with Glade litter was a life saver for me and my cat. Of course you could smell as soon as she would go #2, but the smell would be completely gone in about 10 seconds. I used to stock up on black Friday for a great deal for the whole year. Plus side, kitty litter is great to keep in your vehicle in case you need some extra traction for snow or mud.
