Watching a few combo videos over the last 2 days I've come to realize that the combat in this game is way more complex than all the haters made it out to be.
Saw another comment like yours. Nobody said nothing bad, literally i'm cruising into TH-cam, twitter, reddit, and nobody hated it. That complain was before the game came out, but that is the usual complaining of arena fighter, not specific of db sz. The only one complaining is the perfection guy
I'm decently good at BDFZ (can do several sparkless ToDs) and I'm still struggling to play this game, but not bcause of the combos, but because of all the defense mechanics. Evading is HARD
i learned so much more in the last 10 mins than i did the whole day practicing the game, i kept constantly revisiting the tutorials and practicing but i never understood combos, i didn’t even consider using step in, but now i know it’s vital, thank you!
One thing I learned about TH-cam is people just hop on the video and just start complaining they never give the opportunity for anyone to learn or they never correct the proper way of someone's mistakes keep up the good work just subbed
Thank you, I'm a total zero in fighting games and it really helped me grasp the basics. Please do more videos like this, you make very informative content
Heads up about 5:54-6:37. Players can Super Counter mid combo even when you're behind them. For some reason super counters can be done during hitstun so attacking from behind isnt true as well sadly...
Yep, and since it's only cost is "tight execution" that allows the bots to abuse it way more than any human could making a lot of even the basic combos feel like a coin flip since it can happen at ANY point in a melee combo. It's incredibly annoying to deal with and feels like an artificial inflation of the difficulty. There's plenty of ways that actual people have been defending against various combo routes and the bots rarely do those themselves because why would they when they've got the objectively best option available at any moment which doesn't cost any resources.
@@lonewolfxdash4738 Only if you fight against bots. But for humans it is super difficult to pull off. That's why it is so OP. It was the same in BT3 too. They should just leave it alone.
This has been fantastic for learning, thank you so much. I didn't understand how to do the triangle moves in rush attacks at all. I was mashing square and timing my triangle press based on when the character did the Xth move in the combo, I didn't realise you actually just hit square X times and then triangle lmao. Sounds stupid but hey. Now I just have to... learn to execute on this well. Cheers. The controller on screen was really nice.
I just started watching DBZ Sparking. I love the gameplay. I’m not a fighter gamer. After carefully listening to your very detailed and clear breakdown I still have no clue what’s going on 😂
Great video! Subbed to you. As a BT3 Player and Ragin Blast 2 player I had no problem with the last combo video and understood it. I really liked the idea that you turned off the HUD for better view
This is the video I needed to see. I purchased sparking zero but haven’t played it yet due to work. The learning curve is intimidating so thanks for the explanation
9:10 After the launch you can also hit (triangle/y) to go hit them with a heavy finish in the air before doing the (square/x) mashes into the (triangle/y) spike. I don’t have the game on right now, but you might need to hit the dash button first and then the (ki) button with heavy finish them in the air. And in this game, THAT heavy finish in the air is counted separately than anyone you did previously before launching them so it won’t break the combo. You can use this to launch them with (up + triangle) and then jump up and heavy finish them and then you can combo into Delta storm or any other combo your character has that starts after heavy finish
@@mattyryon must have been a miscommunication. I’m talking about when they’re flying through the air because of the launch strike. Instead of following up with the punches and then spiking them (this is UNBLOCKABLE they are in tumble animation) you knee them in the stomache first. And then do the rest of the punches. OR you could do Delta combo. This isn’t a blockable move. They can vanish it. But it’s not like you’re just punching someone who’s standing there
Appreciate it, had to go through dozens of the same thing to finally find someone covering what does and doesn't work versus an actual opponent blocking. What do you do for offense when you hit an opponent (in the front) but they've already demonstrated they can and will hold block/perception while being hit? Charged smash high lows? Throws? Sidesteps? Teleport? A video covering the options to push offense that can get you from a frontal hit to a mixup (especially one that results in a back-combo if successful) would be huge.
The fact that you play Classic helps my brain out so much, you don't even understand. Great vid and will be watching more when I can handle more information!
Another great combo tool is lift strikes, you can do square 4 times then end with a very lightly charged lift strike. It's great because if you mix them up you'll break guards and gives you pretty much 5 more combo extenders including neutral. If you sum the basic two and then each triangle move you could keep someone in a combo for a loooooong time, especially now that super counter is much harder to do
I always couldn't tell if the combos were the same as bt3 where you dash in and combo even more after the 5th hit, but this video clarified it. Can't wait to buy this game
Most videos I watched the combos aren't real and that's just missleading people and a fkn waste of time. This right here is awesome, listen to this man people.
you really simplified a lot of stuff excellently for me as someone who is relatively new to the Tenkaichi series (i did play some BKTK 3 on a ps2 emulator to practice a little before launch, but playing sparking zero with classic controls has posed similiar issues i was facing in tenkaichi 3) I would love if you made a video in similiar fashion to this one but going into detail on the neutral game of teleporting after a move for follow up rushes, like when you're in air, and probably low-key button mashing like me, and you smack someone away and then immediately appear behind them, catching them as they fly and then doing another rush, and then catching them again as they get thrown away again, sometimes it just keeps going on when the normal diff cpu does it and the entire mechanic of it is confusing, would love an explanation in your style !
One combo I been liking was after you know him up in the air and press y to knock him down press b to follow him up and then after hit a super and it does big damage
What is important to know is that every move can connect with eachother. For instance, after launching the opponent, dash and instead of rush use a Y/triangle attack to stagger the opponent, pass behind, rush attack then sweep his legs and throw him with a down grab, then you can use super dragon rush while he's flying through the air to pass behind him and combo him from behind, you get the point you can do pretty much everything you want.
Universal fighting code for face buttons: Square=1. Triangle=2. Cross=3. Circle=4. It’s the same for Xbox. X=1. Y=2. A=3. B=4.
