Growing up in the Bay it's just a necessity to know who he is. I don't think I've ever seen such a huge regional obsession with a musician in this manner. The guy is considered the greatest damn thing in San Francisco despite nobody really knowing anything about him outside of Cali/Pacific Northwest.
