No, I think you’re referring to 1990s Hollywood version of California. Now that the Internet is out northern California even without all the cameras is still notable and recognize worldwide. They might think of LA hip-hop first, but Bay Area hip-hop isn’t forgotten at all. Too much successful artist out of the bay. And outside of hip-hop when it comes to black culture and overall cities in general, the bay area is as famous, if not more so than LA.
