Wirklich sehr gut geflogen. Eine Maschine bei gutem Wind auszugleichen und die Maschine erst mal bis zum "Touchdown" auf die Landebahn runter zu bekommen ist schon nicht einfach. Dass der Pilot hochgezogen hat und keinen weiteren Versuch startete war die beste Entscheidung. Ich bin mir sicher der Pilot wusste was er da tut !
I'd like to know why they decide to go around after touching down. I've seen some planes get all wheels down and go back up. In this case I am guessing only one side touched hard and he set it back up but is this a case where the pilot has overshot for distance so decides to go back up and come in earlier and touch sooner for more runway length?
@@Polentaccio The prob decided to go around because if they were to continue with their landing, they would have bounced down the runway which is called porpoising which could have caused much damage to the aircraft. In the cases where the plane has all wheels on the runway may be the pilots saw something on the runway etc. there are many reasons why a pilot would go around. Most of the time for the safety of the aircraft and the passengers.

Yep. Can still remember how I was on board a 737-400 and had the luck of having (what something like planeseatguru or something) called 'The Window Seat'. I knew from TV that wings can take a lot of bending and such, but still it was mighty cool to end up in turbulence that made me lose contact with my chair for a short while and see the wing at my right flex up and down like mad!
@@weeardguy, I was at such a window place looking over the wing on a flight with a B 767 from Kopenhagen to Beijing, many years ago. Somewhere over Siberia we encounterd some severe turbulence. Not only did the wing bend up and down "like crazy" but the engine did wobble from left to right insanely. Learning for my physics pre-diploma at this time i started to get VERY sweaty hands imagine the forces in the attachment points of the engine and the wings at this moment....

Just like during take-off and braking, that you can just see the engine trying to pivot around the wing ;) I take some relief in the fact that planes can sustain such forces that it can get passengers unconscious, but the plane will be fine ;) But hell, I never experienced severe turbulence. Only shortly lost contact with my seat on my flight to Kyiv as we hit some clear-air turbulence and those were the only 2 flights I took so far in my life ;)

I was on a flight from Memphis, Tennessee to Kansas City that ended up doing three go-arounds (aborted landings). Ended up diverting to Whiteman ABF, 50 miles away. Later, the pilot said it was the worst case of wind shear he had ever seen. We dropped about 50 feet in less than one second. I've been flying my whole life, and that was the only time I felt like we might be done for.
Whoa, I thought they already landed. I thought: ohmygosh, the plane landed practically on its side?! Then realized it was just the camera that'd tipped over. They were this close to touching ground but nope, wind wouldn't have it. Big applause for the pilots. After watching several pilot videos, I assume the ones here were still cool as cucumbers - just concentrating intensely. They amaze me.
It's not only the camera. It did touch the ground, you can look closely, the pilot managed to level up the wings before the wheels touch the ground (probably only right wheel) but it was close to a wing strike! I guess they should have done the go around earlier because of how unstable that approach seemed to be
It looks like the left gear briefly touched the ground and bounced (though hard to tell). According to the Mentor Pilot channel you can execute a go-around anytime prior to deploying the reverse thrust
Yeah, the gear "touched" the ground (more like slammed) and the plane started going left, out of the runway, like f'in fast, then they did the go around. It almost gave ME a heart attack, imagine the passengers. Or maybe they were already going around right after the touch down and it gave me the impression of the plane going to the left. Anyway.....scarry!
No, this is a "go-around", and "touch and go" is a planned event when you are practicing your landing. A "go-around" is when a "full stop" landing turns to shit and you have to .....go-around.

Halt mal den Ball flach, so ganz normal war die Situation nicht, zumindest habe ich solche Turbolenzen bei einer Landung bisher nicht erlebt. Zum Glück.
Salzburg ist meine Homebase, ich war an dem Tag auch unterwegs und ich kann dir sagen das daran nichts normal war. Das war ein Sturmtief mit böhenartigen Seitenwinden wie ich sie noch nie gesehen habe. Gegen Abend hatte ich auch eine Schicht im Tower und es war Ausnahmesituation. Das ganze Ding hat gewackelt.
I have seen lots of video of hard landings or rough approaches . To be Frank I wouldn’t want to be on that plane on that flight.. That was hard & hairy . Good call by the crew.
Germanic people. Different cultures have different reactions to situations. They clap for every landing in Latin America and Eastern Europe. Look for videos of turbulence in some middle-eastern airlines and see the reactions. I am from India and here too people would scream. Northern Europeans are usually a bit subdued in displaying their emotions, unless of course they are drunk, then they are something else.
Nun, du hättest drinsitzen sollen- die Tragefläche hatte fast Bodenberührung- die hätte tatsächlich eine Hand NICHT mehr zwischen Landebahn und Flügel gepasst. Sowas ist in Salzburg halt nicht alltäglich mit einem Airliner und auch anderswo eher selten.
Es war ein windiger Landeanflug. Von HORROR kann keine Rede sein. Wenn der Flieger abgeschmiert, das wäre in der Tat HORROR gewesen. Aber so ist die Maschine nur durchgestartet. Ein Vorgang der weltweit täglich mehrfach vorkommt. Deswegen ist diese Headline hier völlig unangebracht.
wenn sie abgestürzt wäre, wäre es ein Absturz gewesen und keine Landeanflug mit Durchstarten...immer diese Klugscheißer btw der Seitenwind war schon heftig ;) Alltäglich kommt das bestimmt vor aber nicht für jeden Passigier und für die war es sicher Horror, also geh leise heulen.
zonk2k4 Seh ich ganz genau so. Ich glaube die Atmosphäre während dieses windigen Landeversuchs kann man anhand des Videos nur erahnen. Keine Ahnung, warum manchen hier meinen das herunterspielen zu müssen. Mich wundert die Ruhe der Passagiere im Flieger.

Das ist ein Manöver wie aus dem Lehrbuch. Trotz heftigem Seitenwind ein den Umständen entsprechend ruhiger Anflug und eine blitzschnelle Reaktion zum Go- Around.
Très bonne réaction du pilote ou du copilote, car je ne sais pas qui était pilote en fonction ce jour-là, tant que l'approche n'est pas stabilisée, la remise des gaz doit être immédiate.... TOGA.... 😜
That decision to go-around was way too late based on the lateral control the pilot could have during the final. No comment on piloting skills, the atmosphere must have been terrible, but the decision making is clearly questionable here.
Eine "ganz normale" Landung bei schlechten Windverhältnissen war das mit Sicherheit nicht, wie das einige hier behaupten. Und was sollen solche Kraftausdrücke wie "fliegen bei schönem Wetter kann jeder". Wir wollen doch möglichst nur bei schönem Wetter fliegen. Ich habe so etwas noch nie erlebt....und Flugzeuge sind wegen Turbulenzen schon verunglückt! (Delta/Atlanta, Pobeda/Ukraine) nur um zwei zu nennen.

Ehrlich? Könnte es sein, dass der Pilot das schon mal gemacht oder vielleicht sogar, so rein präventiv, mal in einem Simulator trainiert hat?

Das ist für Piloten ein Standartverfahren und kein Grund für Stress! Wenn eine sichere Landung nicht garantiert werden kann wird durchgestartet!

Go around, do not hit the ground. Normal gusty windy procedure and always an option if the approach isn’t stabilized - even in calm weather. .

That decision to go-around was way too late based on the lateral control the pilot could have during the final. No comment on piloting skills, the atmosphere must have been terrible, but the decision making is clearly questionable here.

Eine "ganz normale" Landung bei schlechten Windverhältnissen war das mit Sicherheit nicht, wie das einige hier behaupten. Und was sollen solche Kraftausdrücke wie "fliegen bei schönem Wetter kann jeder". Wir wollen doch möglichst nur bei schönem Wetter fliegen. Ich habe so etwas noch nie erlebt....und Flugzeuge sind wegen Turbulenzen schon verunglückt! (Delta/Atlanta, Pobeda/Ukraine) nur um zwei zu nennen.
Das sind halt alles Schaumschläger die sich in der Situation wahrscheinlich eingenässt hätten
